We were coming home from the beach, 3 hours from home, when the check engine light came on in our 2007 Saab Sports Wagon. The first couple of garages couldn't or wouldn't help at all. Finally we got a suggestion to try Carey's and we limped up to Georgetown. Mr. Carey quickly diagnosed the problem as a throttle body and tried to clean it. Unfortunately that didn't work so we limped back to the garage. This was when Archie really shone. He called the rental car agency in the Georgetown area only to find out they had nothing available. He then set us up in a local motel and drove us there. The replacement throttle body came in the next day and here again, Archie went and tracked down the UPS guy because he was running late. Long story short, our car was repaired by noon the next day and we were on our way home. We took our 2006 Infiniti M35X to Careys with a horrible noise in the transmission area. Turns out our car had been towed incorrectly by a local towing company (all wheel drive car, they didn't use dollies or a flat bed) - and it completely trashed the transfer case in the car. They were able to get the part quickly and get the car repaired fast for us. The most impressive part is the way they treat people. We felt like we were talking to family; they genuinely wanted to make us happy and did everything they could (including working late) to get our car back on the road. Incredibly nice people and you know from the second you talk to anybody there you'll be taken fantastic care of. They will explain everything to you in layman's terms and they're very easy to contact. Brought my Mitsubishi Galant in with a bizarre set of problems and they quickly let me know what exactly the problem was and what caused it. They worked with me to give me some repair options and I chose what worked for me. After they test-drove it they let me know I could pick it up and everything has worked like new. Recently while on vacation at Bethany Beach our 2014 Subaru had a malfunction causing significant water pump damage, serpentine belt replacement, ECT. On short notice the owner was able to order the parts for next day delivery and then personally stayed on 4 hrs past the normal Friday 11:00 am closing time to get the car completed. Then the following week called me personally to see if the car was working properly, very rare for an out of state customer to experience this level of personal service. While I hope you never breakdown while on vacation at the beach, if you do and your any where close to Georgetown, De, this is the business to call. Took my car here because the front end was clunking when I turned. I was told that this was going to be $90 to look at it plus all parts and labor. They add a $90 'estimate fee' to every service. This would be fair if the problem was going to be difficult to diagnose, but once the wheel is off then it's pretty easy to figure out whether it's a tie-rod or a bushing. Be careful here and I would definitely not recommend for anybody with a minor issue due to the outrageous and mandatory 'estimate fee'. read more

I was on my way home from Fenwick, DE to Baltimore, MD. My "check engine" light came on in the middle of nowhere on 113. I still had 2+ hours to get home.
