Side of rice with jerk sauce
    Rae Lynne K.

One day my coworker had a craving for Caribbean food and me, being a lover of some good jerk chicken and oxtail went with him to this location. Not being that familiar with Stamford I would have probably not found it on my own, but since he had been there before he knew right where to go. The parking at the end of the street - atrocity. We parked down the street. The storefront is very unassuming but when you walk in the smell of the food is warm and inviting. The two ladies working there were super friendly and there was a line of 3 people ahead of us, and within minutes a longer line behind us. I knew this place had to be good. And in the store they had ting (a grapefruit drink I love) that I haven't seen in other Caribbean stores. They have a limited amount of grocery and baked bread. I opted for the jerk chicken with Mac and cheese and a side of white rice. The amount of food in a small plate was plentiful. I couldn't wait to dig in! The jerk chicken was good, hint of sweetness but missing the hint of spice. The Mac and cheese was so delectable. I wish I had ordered more. The white rice was awesome. It was so much food I ate it for lunch and dinner. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. I will absolutely be back as I want to try their oxtail!

The location of this place is a bit weird and sketch. It's on a dead end with many people just hanging out on the streets in front of the stores around this place. The inside of this place is small, has groceries, and about 4 tables . I went during a lunch rush and there was a line that moved pretty fast. It was loud inside, but the place was calm, I ate in peace. I tried the oxtail and jerk chicken- both were delicious - though I didn't enjoy the slight sweetness of the dishes. I would def go back again but never alone and only during the day. I was catcalled, asked for money, and was stopped multiple times during my one visit. That's the only downside to the location of this place.

Oxtail with Rice and beans and Cabbage. I had to split it to 2 meals.

Ordered Oxtail to go. It was a medium. It got loaded with 6-8 pieces and rice and beans and cabbage. It was enough for 2 full meals. Delicious. The meat fell off the bones. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I want to try the other choices but I always use oxtail as a standard before I try something else.

This is an unassuming place off the beaten path in Stamford. This area seems like a little bit of a seedier part of town, since there are a few buildings that have barred windows and a security fence. The food here is definitely worth walking over to this side of the town. Food comes out at 12:00pm on the dot. There's the usuals, curries, jerk chicken and patties and then there's the specials. They're different everyday, so there's definitely the variety here if you are looking for it. $8 for a small order or $10 for a large order for the usuals. If you're really hungry, the small will fill you up, so I wouldn't recommend ordering a large unless you want enough leftovers for dinner.

Jerk Chicken and a Jerk Chicken/Pork platter... Ridiculously good.

Inside, the café is clean, inviting, and has a warm atmosphere that's perfect for grabbing a coffee or catching up with a friend. I ordered a large cold brew with vanilla syrup, and it was easily the highlight of my visit. Smooth, refreshing, and nicely balanced without being overly sweet. I would absolutely order it again. For food, I tried the Breakfast Burrito, although it's really closer to a Crunchwrap than a traditional burrito. It comes with scrambled eggs, bacon, peppers and onions, cheddar cheese, avocado mash, tater tots, and lima crema. On paper, it sounded like a home run. Unfortunately, the execution did not live up to the description. It ended up being extremely greasy, mushy, and surprisingly lacking flavor despite having so many ingredients. I kept expecting each bite to get better, but it never really did. It was one of those dishes that had a lot of potential but just missed the mark. My cold brew and breakfast came to $23.84 with tax, which felt a little expensive for a breakfast wrap and coffee. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the coffee because it was excellent. As for the food, I'd probably try something different next time. If the kitchen can match the quality of the coffee, this place could be a real standout.

The shop itself is rather small but it is clean, inviting, & filled w/ the amazing aroma of freshly baked bread. For my free loaf I chose the Apricot Delight (sliced thin), which was packed w/ apricots, raisins, & currants. What impressed me most was that Nicole(staff who took care of me) told me the bread has more fruit than bread & no added sugar or preservatives. The fruit was plentiful in every slice, & since there's no added sugar, the natural sweetness really shined through. It was incredibly fresh, flavorful, & absolutely delish! I also tried the Hot Honey Pepperoni Mini Pizza , which was tasty w/ plenty of flavor. The only complaint I have is that it couldn't be warmed up. I think it would have been better hot!To finish things off, I tasted a cinnamon roll that was soft, ooey, gooey, everything a good cinnamon roll should be(except it would have been better hot as well). Overall, I was very impressed w/ the quality of the homemade baked goods & the freshness(they bake everything daily)of everything I tried. The staff was friendly, the rewards program was a nice bonus, & I even earned points through the Cobs app for future visits. I'll def be back to try more of their breads, baked goods, & pastries!
