My partner and I decided to grab some takeout before heading out later. He had never been to this particular Caribbean restaurant before. It's located in a small building set back from the main road, and the lighting is dim, so you might miss it if you're not careful. The parking lot is also quite small. Upon entering, I was greeted warmly. The employees are behind bulletproof glass, but don't let that discourage you from enjoying one of the best meals ever! The server was kind and patient as I decided what to order. After a quick phone call, I ordered a jerk chicken meal with double rice and peas, and a curry goat meal with greens and rice and peas. The friendly gentleman informed me it would take about 10 minutes, and my food was ready exactly as promised. I always check my food before leaving any place, and everything looked and smelled amazing. The portions were generous for the price, and we could have shared a meal, but I was craving their curry goat! Since we didn't have far to drive, we started eating right away before heading home. The jerk chicken was perfectly seasoned, and all our food was fresh and piping hot. The rice and peas were tender and flavorful. However, I must say that the curry goat was the star of the show! It was tender and moist with just the right amount of spice. My body isn't usually fond of spicy foods, but this had the perfect kick. No extra seasoning was needed on anything! We both thoroughly enjoyed our dinners and couldn't finish even a fourth of either one. Wow, what an incredible takeout experience we had from this hidden Caribbean gem! It's tucked away in a small, dimly lit building off the main road--you might miss it if you're not paying attention. The parking lot's pretty tiny, but trust me, the food is 100% worth it! The moment I walked in, I was greeted with such warmth. Sure, the staff works behind bulletproof glass, but that didn't take away from how friendly and welcoming they were. The server was super patient while I took my time deciding. After a quick call with my bae, I ordered the jerk chicken with double rice and peas, plus a curry goat meal with greens and more rice and peas. The awesome guy at the counter said it'd be ready in 10 minutes, and guess what? Right on the dot! Of course, I had to check our food before leaving--habit--and oh my gosh, it looked and smelled AMAZING. Huge portions too; honestly, we could've shared, but there was no way I was passing on that curry goat! We couldn't even wait to get home--we dug right in. The jerk chicken? Mind-blowingly good. Perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed with flavor. The rice and peas? Tender, flavorful, and just the right texture. But let me tell you, the CURRY GOAT stole the show! Tender, moist, with the perfect hit of spice--I usually can't handle spicy food, but this was just right. No extra seasoning needed, not even a sprinkle. We were both in foodie heaven and couldn't even finish a fourth of our meals because the portions were that generous. The rice is smothered in gravy. It's mush rice with gravy. The vegetables were over cooked cabbage with mixed. The meat seems well done in and out. Even with ask the gravy slathered on, it was dry. Please do better by your patrons. As a food critic you have room for improvement. Side note: When a person asks to see their food first don't look dismayed. Show them and stop tying the food up in a knot. It would be nice to show people their food prior to handing it over. I placed my order and waited maybe 15 minutes max. So not bad at all. All hands were on deck behind the counter because they were getting so much foot traffic and pick up orders! Today we ordered Door Dash for lunch. I got the Jamaican Jerk Chicken, red beans and rice and plantains with a Pineapple Jamaican Soda to wash it down with. The chicken ( which I chose was all dark meat) 3 legs was seasoned perfectly, moist and delicious. You have a choice of white, dark or mixed chicken pieces. The red beans and rice was flavorful. Incredibly delicious food! My meal from Caribbean Citchen was the best homemade takeout meal I've ever had. I ordered oxtail with collards and candied yams as side dishes. Each item was fresh, well-seasoned and rather light. Most soul or Southern food restaurants tend to make these items heavy with rich butter, oils and seasonings. These were very flavorful without the heaviness. I literally gobbled up this dish! Though I ordered my meal items ala cart, it was moderately priced in its entirety. I don't know what kind of chicken this is, but it's not Jerk chicken. It's a baked and sauced/gravy not sure but it's not good at all. The rice and beans are over cooked , mushy and bland, the cabbage is meh. Overall save your time and money. Nothing has season on it. I received this through Uber eats so I can't speak on the service. Nor the ambiance. It's hard to find fresh but their consistent volume makes this easy. My mom recommends the snapper! The small portion was very filling. The wait time was short, which I could appreciate. And I was surprised, seeming I've read that the wait time could be a pain. So I was excited that I didn't have to wait long. However, I was disappointed Bc I tried to order beef patties and rotis skin, in which they were out of both. In talking to friends, I was told that I have to go to the restaurant earlier in the day to order food, as they often run out early. I went there around 5 pm. So overall, good food. Just disappointed about them not having everything that I wanted, especially b/c I had driven about 50 minutes to try this restaurant.
