I battled with myself the entire time on whether or not I should leave a review or not because I didn't want to mess with someone's business but I just had to. This place is very rundown and was very empty. And I completely get why... I should have read the reviews. PLEASE do not get tricked by the good reviews. The staff did not want to talk to me and they were only speaking to one another in their language. When they spoke to me it was as if I was the random that just sat the cool kids table. The staff were not the kindest when I spoke with them on the phone and when strangers came into the salon. I personally did not feel welcome walking in, even though I scheduled an appointment. They don't have any sheet nail polish that isn't gel so I tried to get the lightest shade and it was super dried out and very clumpy. Noticing this made me feel terrible with giving them a bad review but I feel like they genuinely don't want to work or that they hate their job. It's sad to see and just made me feel so miserable the entire hour I was there. I honestly almost walked out when they did my pedicure, but I finish then I try to move on my nails and I just couldn't do it anymore. It was such an awkward experience. I was hesitant to come in due to the reviews on here. They absolutely did a great job! Henry did my gel manicure and it looks wonderful. My pedicure was filled with some wonderful massage and it also looks amazing. I chose a dark red and she was sure to clean up around the edges. We all know how tough dark red can be. I waited a while but that is my fault. I just walked in and they were extremely busy. They worked to get me seated as quickly as possible. I am new to the area and need a good nail salon. If only the good ones would make time to write in as well as the bad, (really only 10 review in 1 1/2 years) this site would be overwhelmed with great reviews, because the salon is normally overwhelmed with customers that don't feel they should make appt's, yet the salon tends to accommodate and help you through. I have been going to this salon for 10 years, been through 3 owners, and have seen more positive changes in this salon since the new ownership about 3 years ago than all the other owners. They do strive to please and they do a great job at it. Every technician does a good job and if you want a better job, set up an appointment.(and not at the last minute) The owner goes out of her way to try to accommodate your needs, and they all put quality in their work. I came in last minute for a pedicure with gel nails, and a regular basic manicure. Only an old man and middle aged woman were in there. Both employees/owners. It was a ghost town. I specified "gel on the toes and regular clear pink polish on my nails. Both of them heard me. The older gentleman did my pedicure and he was very careful and took a good amount of time massaging my feet and legs, and made sure that my nail polish was done nice. The lady that was there came over and asked if I wanted my manicure during my pedicure and because I was short on time, I said yes. She started off by putting a small towel on my lap and proceeded sanding down my very thin nails with an electric sanding tool, as if I were getting gel, and didn't file or shape them good at all! I had to pick up the file to try and shape them when she walked away, but she just came back, took my hands and shoved them into a bag of paraffin wax. I pulled back a little and said that I wanted to take off my wedding ring and she just proceeded to stick them in. She then asked me to leave a 5 star review, right then and there, and if I did she would give me $30 off. Since my pedicure was going well, after trying to get all of the wax out of my ring, I left it. After that, she painted my nails with the clear polish, but then stuck them under the lamp. I asked her if she put gel on them and she scooped up the UV lamp and proceeded to sand the gel off. As I stated earlier, I have VERY thin nails and at this point she actually sanded through one of them. I yanked my hand away and she just said sorry and then put on regular clear polish, which stung. I sat there for 15minutes and it wouldn't dry/harden. She took it off and slapped some more on and sprayed it with quick dry. Another 15 minutes and it still didn't dry all of the way. At that point I had to bail and the old man checked me out and charged me full price. I told him she was giving me a discount for my review and he shook his head. I paid way more than expected and left him a tip for his portion and got the heck out of there. I can't find my five star review to see if I could erase/update it, so I am writing this one. P.S. Bring your own drink because I was never offered a water or drink like they did with the previous owner. read more

Came in just to have my acrylics removed. Wasn't greeted with kindness-- they were unwelcoming & rude to other customers & walk ins. It took OVER an hour to have my nails removed. No manicure, just nail removal. The employees were constantly jumping around to different customers. The guy who initially started removing my nails just up and left halfway through and didn't come back or say anything to me he just disappeared so a different person took over and was rushing so hard that she filed through my real nails and hurt me. My fingers are in agonizing pain from soaking in acetone for who knows how long and from her dremmel bits filing through my poor nail beds & exposing fresh skin. There is still acrylic bits on my nail beds and basically not worth $15. My toddler could have done a better job. I'd never come back here & I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

I just paid twice for a mani-pedi at Carribean Nails in Saratoga' Springs. Soooooo frustrated HORRIBLE business practices. Last Christmas I gave my daughter a gift certificate from there. Paid for a mani-pedi and they gave me this paper. Expires this December. After our service, I went to give it to them and they were like "oh that's from the old owner. We can't honor that." They had me talk to the manager on the phone who wouldn't budge. And then gave me the number of the old owner, who of course didn't answer, and had an impersonal voicemail. What??! It says Carribean Nails. why should I get zinged because of changed ownership? Yes, it would be either me or them losing money if the previous owner doesn't pay up, but isn't this something you should consider when you buy a business? There are liabilities. I am a dude that doesn't mind doing a pedi once in awhile. It's been a very long time. I got the old guy and all he did was cut the toenails and spent all the rest of the time massaging my legs. I sat down on the chair about 15 min after a lady sat down and the young guy was doing her nails. I was done way before he started painting her nails. I paid for the deluxe and got a very expensive toe nail trim and a massage. I walked in Saturday morning at 9:30 which is there opening time (my first time ever going there) and was surprised to find out that I was very lucky that they weren't already booked up. Worst experience. There were 5 of us who wanted pedicures and or nails done. Our nails were lumpy and polis was far from perfect. Worst part...when they rang us up I was charged $1,163.00 for 2 pedicures, 1 full set and 1 polish. Trying to get a refund has been a nightmare and 10 days later....still no refund. The man that works in there is a Dick and terrible customer service. This was their mistake and they have done nothing to remedy the problem. Would recommend finding a different place to go to. They were able to get six of us in without an appointment, which was awesome. My pedicure was good - it was $24 and included paraffin wax and callus removal. They got us through fairly quickly, considering there were only three techs available. I asked for a polish change after my pedicure and I was not happy with it. The tech didn't wait for the layers to dry before she applied the next (I think she was putting them on too thick), and there were three nails with bubbles after she was done. So I asked her to fix the bubble ones, and she did. But then a while later she checked my nails and told me they were dry. A super relaxing pedicure experience. Maybe it was because it was Valentine's Day or because it was a Tuesday midday.... Either way, it was a lovely experience. The older gentleman got straight to work on my nightmare feet, he didn't make me feel dumb about my "dry feet"! The jelly pedicure has lots of massage and it was just nice to close my eyes and not feel like I had to talk, instead I listened to the relaxing music, if I opened my eyes there was a pleasant video of landscapes playing. If he had a question and he didn't understand me, another employee helped relay the message, it melted me how they work as a team. Side note: is this new management? Okay so here is the deal my husband would rate this place a 5 but I would rate it a 2. It honestly really depends on who you get. The young man that did my husband's nails was great. We had a great conversation with him, he was always checking to make sure things felt okay and was very polite and good at his job. However, the man that did my pedicure scrubbed the side of my ankle so hard I was bleeding and also cut my cuticles to the point of bleeding as well. He didn't say anything just wipes the blood away and sprayed what I assume was alcohol on my foot. It wasn't a pleasant experience. If I could give this place zero stars I would, and that glowing recommendation comes from one worker alone (see photo). My 14 year old daughter has been here a few times to spend her babysitting money. This guy is pretty grumpy every time, but she likes the low prices so has continued to go back. Until now. Her and her friend made an appointment for acrylic fills at 5:30. They took her friend back at 5:45. Around 6 my daughter asked the guy in charge if there was a mix up in her appointment time. He told her that it was normal to wait and if she was going to whine about it he wouldn't do her nails at all. WHAT??! You talk to a paying customer like that?? And if that was the end of the story I wouldn't be writing this review. I had been waiting in the car and around 6:20 my daughter came out and told me what had happened. She had tears in her eyes and said that he raised his voice at her again. I saw a lady walking out of the salon, and wanting to make sure that my daughter wasn't over exaggerating I asked her if she had been in there and seen the exchange. She said that he most definitely had yelled at my daughter and was completely inappropriate with her. I went inside and he was working on someone, and I told him (calmly) that I just wanted to let him know that he had lost a paying customer and that it was inappropriate to yell at customers, especially children. He then began yelling at me (all the other customers watched, it was super fun) and told me that her appointment wasn't at 5:30 but 5:45 and it's normal to have a wait time. I told him I didn't have a problem with her waiting, but I did have a problem with how he treated her in the meantime. He continued to yell, even screamed at one point, talking over me, waving his arms and pacing all around the store. I could not believe he was responding to me in such an emotional and unprofessional way. He kept saying it was normal to wait. And I said yes, it's normal to wait. Again, I don't have a problem with the wait, I have a problem with how you treated her during the wait. He yelled over every single word I said, I quite literally didn't get one full sentence out without him yelling over me. I am not exaggerating when I say he was yelling. Finally I gave up and told him I didn't know how he stayed in business. How shameful to talk to a customer like that, let alone a 14 year old! It was so incredibly unprofessional. He has zero communication skills, zero respect, and zero ability to hear an opinion other than his own. Even if we didn't agree on what happened, he could have chosen to respond to me with professionalism. No one should support this business. There are plenty of nail salons with employees that deserve the work and tips, do not give your money to this salon. Support good business. And Caribbean Nails is definitely not. read more

I drive about 20 minutes away to get my nails done but had a last minute business trip and needed a gel mani and pedicure on Presidents Day. I live in SS and have wanted to find some place closer to home. This was one of only a couple nearby places open on the holiday. My girlfriend also came with and got an acrylic fill and pedicure. We had an appointment at 3:30, arrived, and waited about 20 minutes to be started on. Fine, pretty par for the course at nail salons. Why even make an appointment?? Older lady started on my feet first. Did a nice job with that. Then moved me to table to do gel mani. She did a quick job, cut one of my cuticles which bled, and then didn't even finish with lotion, massage, or oil on my cuticles. $25 for gel mani and $25 for pedicure. Yesterday, 4 days after service, my mani was chipping on 3 nails on my right hand. I've NEVER had gel manis chip that quick and was hugely disappointed. Won't be going back here. read more

Emily always did my nails and she was wonderful and nice. I would alway make me appointment a week in advance and I would put the appointment in my phone as I was confirming the appointment. I was leaving town on Vacation and I clearly made the appointment for the day prior to my vacation. I went in first thing for my appointment and sat down with Emily. Tran came over and started yelling at me saying that I missed my appointment the day before. I explained to Tran that I had scheduled this day and why. I know it wasn't scheduled for the day before because I had other appointments that were scheduled (long before) on that day. He would not stop yelling at me about missing an appointment. I apologize but he would not stop. Emily said she was available and she could do it now...but he would not stop. He told me to leave because I had missed my appointment.
