These places seem to be really giving Starbucks a run for their money. Clean and welll appointed, they are fast and efficient and serve good strong coffee. Colorado has a few, but this one is in Des Moines, and a good place to stop for a muffin and coffee. I like the style of the interior, and the selections they had in food and drink were good. I'm a customer since they opened and am happy with the product. But just exactly what is the problem with there facility maintenance its non existing look at the yard. The grounds have always been a mess and in the winter the drive is horrible too. But it's June and I don't think a scissors let alone a lawn mower has touched a weed on the place there is really not much more than weeds there. read more

I am usually a loyal Starbucks drinker but recently was introduced to the Campfire and work down the street from this location. I was less than impressed this morning getting my rare mocha splurge. I waited in the long drive through line (inside didn't look any better). My complaint isn't the line.. it is that the woman taking my order didn't give me my usual "Starbucks experience." She didn't greet me at the window-simply took my card, swiped it, and gave it back to me. Didn't say a word?!? I don't even think she looked at me. Totally weird, robotic behavior for a barista. Good location, right next to dmu. Ordered a frozen turtle mocha with dark chocolate. Favorite drink here. Poor cell reception on project fi, but free Wi-Fi makes up for it. Fast service, almost no line at 3 pm Friday. Plenty of seating space and outlets available. Overall a clean place for coffee and loitering. Was also offered a free sample of their pumpkin white cooler while working - friendly staff. read more

We stopped here on a recent trip to Des Moines and was pleasantly surprised by how good their coffee and other drinks were. I only drink coffee black ( I know, boring ) but my husband and our friends all ordered other coffee drinks and they loved them! I hate to write bad reviews but still. Never had a problem until yesterday, I bought four things yesterday two coffee's and two sandwiches my order was $16, paid with $100 dollar bill(that's all I had on me) then left without checking my change and wasn't given a receipt upon leaving and because I've never had a issue before I didn't bother to ask then left. I run my errands then at the bank I realize that I only got back $54. First time I called the shop explained my situation they said there isn't anything they could do because I didn't have a receipt so I hung up and double checked to make sure I didn't have one, called back this time I got a manager on the phone explained my situation/order/described the Batista that worked there that helped me and they said they'd check the drawer to see if the drawer was over and call me back. I get a call back this afternoon and surprisingly they are not over. I hadn't spent any money at all anywhere else, they manager I spoke to basically shrugged me off. I get it $20 isn't $200 but still I rarely get coffee and it's a luxury if I do. Just the whole situation is infuriating, I wont be back. read more

It's a good place, but must warn if you are wanting to use their internet and do some work here, it's not a great place. The internet is extremely slow and frustrating. I can't imagine it's any more than entry level connection maybe 7mb. You pretty much must bring your own hotspot, otherwise you'll be waiting around forever for even google search to work. read more

I've always loved coming here. The staff are quite friendly and their coffee is fantastic. I really appreciate how well managed the place is, even when it's super busy. I come here almost once a week and I stay for hours - I know, I'm one of those goons that's always in the back typing. Be that as it may, I'm here alot, and I love it. Laid back, cozy, casual, friendly, and frankly, it's better than the Caribou stores in Minneapolis (its home turf). read more

If you like really light watered down coffee this is the place for you. I am a dark roast drinker and if you show up after 10am they almost never have dark roast so I have to drink whatever light roast they have which is subpar. Must be a corporate policy that once dark roast is out(usually by 9am) then they can't make anymore for the rest of the day. They don't even offer to make more. read more

The employees there are burned out from the heavy traffic that they lack any emotion when serving customers. They only view them as "just another one." Considering the amount of people that come through I'm disappointed they are making no effort in recycling despite asking their customers if they recycle/are green on their chalkboards. I don't like using the word hypocrite but... Coffee is above average and is the only thing keeping this rating above a one star. read more

I signed up on this site from Caribou coffee just so I can leave this review. First of all, I already come here all the time and the service and product is always great. Today though, I'm here and moving around and I knock my drink to the floor and spill pretty much the whole thing on the ground. It was my bad. I was willing to clean it up and pay for a new drink. I go to the counter and ask the gentleman with glasses and dark hair if I can get some towels. Right away, he insists on cleaning it up, though I told him I would handle it. So he comes and cleans up my mess and asks me what I had to drink. I said don't worry about it again because it was my clumsy mistake. I was going to buy another. He wouldn't have it. He has another drink made for me, and though I didn't give him the specifics (skim milk, extra shot), the girl behind the counter calls out my order and she's made it to my liking. She basically remembered my order and made it with the adjustments. So I signed up for Yelp to give this place five stars. Great service. Great drink. The employees here go way out of their way to provide great customer service. read more

Great service but bad coffee... It was over roasted not enough flavor in my opinion. Staffs are very friendly and nice though!!

I'd never been to a Caribou Coffee location before, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. We stopped here while traveling and early in the morning, thinking maybe we would grab breakfast and the quite large location looks very restaurant like, but once inside quickly realized it's a close cousin to similar coffeehouse chains in many ways and has extremely limited food offerings. My husband's cappucino was good, and actually tasted like coffee. I am usually more of a black brewed coffee type (sometimes cold brew) but on this visit I decided to go for what I'd normally deem a frou frou drink, the Mint Condition Mocha. It was actually very delicious. Definitely more of a sugary treat, but it had an excellent blend of strong mint, chocolate, and coffee flavors that didn't allow any one flavor to overpower the others. I'd choose the Mint Condition Mocha again over similar drinks from the other guy(s)! This location seemed dated in a good way, like it would be extremely comfortable for groups of small to moderate size, and people of all ages from young children to seniors. Although initially kind of bummed at the layout and menu being nearly identical to the mermaid place and others, I still liked Caribou! read more

I hired Caribou to brew coffee for our daughter's wedding that was held at the Iowa State Fair Ag Building. They accommodated us and delivered it. Jen, the Asst. manager, upon delivering it, ( was unseasonably cold and there was no heat in the building), filled my request of brewing more coffee as the guests, before the wedding, were heading over to the coffee bar to warm up. I knew with the long line there would not be enough to serve the 300 guests during the reception. She did not even hesitate and took off to brew another large carafe. After she left, my son called Caribou and requested three more...they again, accommodated our request. After the ceremony, I glanced over, saw Jen and she was helping at the reception. I was sooooo amazed and touched. The coffee was awesome as well as the hot chocolate. The Caribou staff and Jen went way above our expectations and made a little stressed Mom a happy camper. I don't drink coffee that often but when I do I get it from here. It's always really good except for when I ask for no nuts in my drink and I end up with them in there.. But it rarely happens. They have some really good breakfast sandwiches and some other food that isn't so good so I would just stick with the breakfast sandwiches and some of the pastries. The workers are always very nice when I go here and I love the inside of the building as well it is very cozy! read more
