So I got this sandwich as a joke because I couldn't imagine it actually being good, but I was intrigued. Little did I know I would end up being the joke. This sandwich is so Highly recommend. I feel like this Caribou location needs way more reviews about the patio life! Located on historic Grand Ave, this Caribou wins in my book alone for the patio. While the patio faces the busy street, it is fun to people watch and see the hustle of folks dining out, getting ice cream, etc. at the neighboring businesses. Bonus: you can bring your dogs here for the patio which is a huge win! To enhance the patio life even further, I would like to recommend to the manager of this location to try a few lounger sun bathing chairs because I bet you'd draw an entire new crowd over. Flipping gears to the interior, this specific location had a small inside with standard tables for working with outlets for computers. The barista service is very quick and the drinks seem to get made in a timely manner. Rating this a 4 simply because I don't find this location to be the most intimidate inside, yet the patio makes up for it and will get updated to 5 stars if there is an investment made for lounge chaser chairs. I've been stopping by this place to get coffee before work for years. It's definitely the better Caribou in this location. The staff are really nice; service is quick and usually correct. If they make a mistake they fix it with a smile. Although this is a chain coffee place, they do their best it seems to make the atmosphere welcoming. Prefer over Starbucks in this area when I'm in a hurry. Coffee is ok and usually fresh. read more

Not a fan of coffee shops in general, but once in awhile I have a craving for something sweet and probably bad for me. After being treated to some hot cocoa while waiting for the Hollidazzle to start, and not getting any because J drank it all, we decided to stop in and get some more. The lady taking orders was very friendly and absolutely delightful. She seemed to enjoy her job and was quite popular as many who came in after us seemed to know her and enjoy talking with her. The milk chocolate hot cocoa is quite the treat! Wow! Really good! I watched the person making it put on the whip cream and little chocolate sprinkles and couldn't wait for her to hand it over. Oh my goodness! Everyone was so upbeat and pleasant! My food and coffee was made in less than 2 minutes during the morning rush and I was asked for my perks rewards right away. The tables are clean and the shop was very warm, busy but not chaotic and super friendly! Definitely a nice place to work, it's a nice cozy and warm environment. The people have always been very friendly! Overall the store could use some TLC. The place is small and it's very loud/noisy. Usually busy and can be hard to find a spot to sit. The high top tables are great, but stools with backs on them would be so much nicer. My biggest complaint is how the corporation takes care of this store. Examples A & B: the cushion covers in the booths of the two perfect corners in the store. (You know the perfect corner...the one where you off to the side and are safe and secure but can still look out at the rest of the store?) For me, the customer experience is everything. This Caribou Coffee is my go to place to support my favorite Minnesota headquartered coffee company. Nothing too awful, and nothing too amazing about the place. There is one barista, Matt, who put whipped cream in my almond milk latte ONCE, no big deal, but then asked me if I just wanted it scooped off. (I'm vegan so I am stupid picky about this kind of stuff.) To me it was insensitive to ask me if I wanted it just scooped off and I felt bad already. Matt re-made it but just so happened to spill the remade latte all over my mug(that I also bought at that caribou...). (I only go to coffee places if I bring my own mug for sustainability purposes) I didn't know if it was because he was angry at me for not wanting the whipped cream or not but it was by far the worst experience I'd had at this caribou and I literally cringe at the fact I paid $6.03 for that almond milk latte... read more

So I work nearby and come here fairly often, overall wonderful service, quick, very kind employees. However the past two times I've come here and ordered the bacon egg and cheese sandwich, and both times the bacon was not fully cooked, but this time it was completely uncooked. I ended up just taking the bacon off, I'm not a very picky person. I never leave reviews but I'm writing this mostly to inform the people who work here so hopefully they can be more conscientious of things like this :) once again, great service, lovely employees I would totally still recommend coming here!! read more

I come here every Sunday to get coffee before I go to campus and do homework for the day. Almost every sunday I am greeted by the same lovely woman at the cash register who absolutely embodies good customer service. She's polite, efficient, and peps me up every time. I come to this location primarily for her and wish her the absolute best. The coffee is also always good, and the inside is always clean. God bless them for being able to look that nice in a "fast food" type environment. read more

Pros - Nice patio right on Grand ave. Great sunlight exposure and priceless people watching along Grand. - Great location across the street from Grand Ol Creamery, and various other businesses. - Private parking lot - Fire place Cons - Very eccentric crowd. Usually some pretty rough people around here, which is odd as Grand Ave really doesn't have that vibe otherwise. I've been here a number of times throughout the summer and sat outside and hear conversations from groups about addictions, alcoholism, etc. Seems like this is a go-to place after/before meetings of some kind. - Small indoor area; there is actually more seating on the patio than inside. May seem like more 'pros' than 'cons' but the crowd this Caribou attracts is just not for me. Personally I'm more of a Starbucks guy anyway, and opt for that. But when I do occasionally go here, I'm reminded why it was always months and months since the last time I was last. read more

I wasn't going to review this Caribou but after reading Matt's review, I couldn't resist because I feel the exact same way about this Caribou and it perplexes me, mostly because of the location. The crowd that hangs here is almost more of a rough East Side Crowd. (No offense to you St. Paul East Siders). I like the patio but every time I go, its seems to be full of the same group of people, and yes, they seem to all know each other intimately from some sort of support group like AA or NA or some other addiction support group and they monopolize the entire patio area, not only with their 12 step banter but with clouds and clouds of smoke. I do like the people watching this patio offers but I am not sure its worth it anymore. The click that hangs on the patio mixed with the terrible wifi at this Bou, really leads me wandering down Grand to the other Caribou or Starbucks. *I do appreciate that they leave a big bowl of water out for the dogs who get thirsty when walking down Grand* read more

I have been here a few times, not during peak hours (6-9 A.M. in my mind). Each time they have been efficient and very quick with our orders. You get a dime off your order (I believe that's correct) if you get the trivia of the day answer correct! It's tasty and I prefer Caribou to Starbucks when I want a fun coffee drink during the day, running errands - they have fun flavors also like MINT MOCHA (yum dot com!). I really appreciate their seating areas here and there are great options on the patio when it's nice out. Just docking a star because more than once my size order is incorrect. This is a great location... the only downfall is that the information posted online for their location and also on the Caribou app is incorrect. There is a paper sign posted on the door stating that they close at 9pm. It's stated that it stays open until 10pm on their app and online. Please fix/adjust either the app, website, or the piece of paper printed in the door with the correct hours of operation please. read more

People: there's nothing wrong with this Caribou. The staff are friendly and the patio is a nice bonus. I'm not threatened by the recovery crowd, so the patrons don't bother me. Plus: free refills on your standard cup of joe. What's not to like? read more

Horrible service! the lady who took my order didn't know what she was doing and I've been to this same spot about 2yrs ago and she was there back then so when I requested chocolate chips blended in my beverage she didn't know what to do (note: I do this at any other caribou no problems EVER) so she goes to the girl making the drinks and says "this man wants chocolate chips in his blended campfire mocha how do I charge him for the chocolate chips" the girl said "WHAT!" While giving a dirty look and the lady said "yeah I know right" so I had to say something at this point so I addressed the lady and I said "Any other caribou does this when asked without running around asking others how do I do this and that they just say yes sir no problem we CAN do that for you" the lady replies "well they must do it as a FAVOR to YOU or they know where the button to charge you for it is" so i get my drink and it had nothing I wanted!!! I really feel for the employees at this place. They have to deal with all the drunk people during the events on Grand Ave. That being said, their coffee is disgustingly bitter. It's the closest coffee shop to my mother's house so I've been desperate enough to go here about 7 times. After the 1st sip, I think of the Twin Peaks line "there's a fish in the percolator". YUCK! This is the Caribou on Grand next to Punch Pizza. Inside it's a little cramped and crowded. Based on the outside I thought it would be larger for some reason. The staff was very friendly and fast, similar to my experience with other Caribou locations. I will definitely return. read more
