My girlfriend and I were visiting Emerald Isle together this week and wanted to try Caribsea. We sat up on the rooftop portion of their restaurant and it was a beautiful view, which I posted. The view definitely made all of of our meals taste just a little better! We ordered the scallops, crab dip, and shrimp linguine, which we shared and it was very tasty and filling! Definitely an A+. Someone else posted a review saying this was in his opinion the best restaurant on the east coast so I had very high expectations walking In and let me say... it definitely lived up to my expectations. The staff were friendly and our server made me a drink that wasn't even on the menu, their sushi was just as good as an authentic sushi place, all of our food was amazing, and the atmosphere was really neat. Yes the food is delectable, however; $$$$ and extremely small portions. Luxury dining over priced for the menu in my humble opinion, nothing you haven't scene in other places in the area just smaller and more expensive few other ingredients and you pay too dollar for that ounce and the chef no doubt from a previous closed location probably. Disappointing changes. This used to be a lovely place for locals and tourists alike...sort of "island fine dining." Sadly, the menu has changed, the prices have greatly increased, and the food quality has declined. Very sad to say we probably will not go back. read more

We went here for our anniversary. They have a great menu and everything is fresh and cooked to order. We got the bone in ribeye, crabcake and the swordfish. Everything was cooked to perfection. The steak was good but not great. I'd say we would've stuck the swordfish and two crabcakes instead of one. The only reason I give it four stars is because the service was a little slow. read more

Maybe hit this on an off night but really underwhelmed by the food here. Nice atmosphere and had high hopes. Everything vastly under seasoned. Not a fan of salty food but wished I had salt shaker in my purse to help the dishes served here. Crab dip was a bit fishy and no taste other than, well fishiness. Oysters surprisingly bland - lardons, Tabasco? yet no taste. One of us ordered scallops with smoked grits. Scallops cooked nicely but zero smokey flavor on grits - all under seasoned. Corn relish was good. Also ordered the mahi special on bed of mushroom risotto. Mahi was cooked really well. Very fresh. Risotto was gummy and once again zero flavor. We set out for Kathrine's, our all time favorite steak place on the island. They unfortunately are closed on Monday. We had our hearts set on steak so we went to the next good steak spot. We are leaving Caribsea more than disappointed. The waitress explained their methods to steak preparation and that peaked my interest. I wish I would have tried the crab cakes. The filet was very salty. I ordered it medium/ med well. It came out medium which was actually a good thing because the outside was so dry that had it not been medium, I would likely not have eaten any of it. It was edible but nothing to write home about. I didnt finish an 8 0z filet which is surprising because I really didn't care for the crab dip. The potatoes and brussel sprouts were good. On a good note we had good service, they make a really good lemon drop martini. The bread was very tasty, they add salt to the top of the warm soft roll. The best part of the night was the dessert, we had crème brûlée, which is my absolute favorite dessert. It was perfect. Melted in your mouth, delicious berries, and a very crisp top. The price point would be fine if the steak was as good as they described but it was so much less than expected. We would never come back for the steak. I have had better steaks at home and at Texas Roadhouse. 3 stars is one more than I wanted to give. read more

Got the crab cakes upon reading some other reviews, and was very excited as I had heard some say they were the best they ever had. WRONG. If you like your crab cakes to taste just like lukewarm crab meat dipped in mayonnaise, this is the place for you! Yes, they have a lot of lump crab meat in them but I'd order just crab meat if thats what I want...also I usually love remoulade sauce, but this one seemed to be missing all the ingredients. Overpriced and unimpressed! $95 NY strip steak looked and tasted like an old steak they grabbed from the local Food Lion. My husband and I went to have a nice date night and were sat at a 2 top table that was just thrown together against a door covered by a curtain. Our food and drinks barely fit on the table and even the waitress was unsure of where to place our steak knives with the limited space. The restaurant was not packed so unsure why we weren't just placed at a 4 top considering they pulled our 2 chairs from a 4 top to create our table. Definitely not the service or food you expect when paying $250. Would not recommend. read more

We went there on a Tuesday night. I called for reservations but was told they were booked solid but we can sit in the Torpedo Lounge (rooftop dining) as that is a first come first serve basis. Once we arrived there, we did find a table that the diners just left so their dirty dishes were still there, the bartender noticed and cleaned it off for us. It was busy up there too since it was a nice night. We started with some wine, beer, and a mixed drink. Our appetizer was the baked oysters. All 3 of us got the blackened mahi special which was delicious. Once the sun went down the crowd diminished. We also got desserts; key lime pie and the vanilla lavender creme brûlée. We've been coming to EI since 2006, and this is our 8th trip. This is our second visit to Caribsea. We loved every single part of our meal. The expanded wine menu is wonderful. We missed having a surf & turf option but ordered the filet with au gratin potatoes, asparagus and then the seafood grill special with green beans and rice. The kitchen accommodated our blanked request with the sauce on the side & we had the crab cake substitute. Every piece was perfection. We would have liked a little larger portion but what we have was melt in your mouth. The steak was cooked to medium perfection an accompanying sauce complimented without overwhelming. The French Pinot noir is a reasonably priced bottle that tastes far more expensive than it is. At the rooftop bar, we had the old fashioned, Caribsea sunset, isle of capri, & tin can. The isle of capri and old fashioned made with Woodford being our favorite. The service at the bar and in restaurant was wonderful, any minor issue or need was always taken care of immediately. You can't beat the ambiance either. The absolute best in EI. We recommend Caribsea to everyone we know who visits EI. read more

Poor service with a attitude. Felt as though we were judged the moment we walked through the door. Bar drinks were ok not great. They put their own spin on good recipes that seem to make them worse. Waitress had a attitude and was not friendly or polite. Food was under cooked and over priced. We have been to Caribsea on several occasions and the food and service has always been on point. One of our favorite dishes is the Shrimp Scampi. It's one of the best I've ever had. Also, the Ribeye is nothing to joke about - Always cooked perfectly and can feed four people. The best rolls in town according to our 6 year old. Ha! The last couple of times we've had Crystal as our server and she has been amazing. She is kind, courteous, respectful, very outgoing, and her recommendations should never be missed. She remembered previous conversations and personal preferences from our previous dining experiences.
