Having moved to the area, the faithful pooch's care was recently transferred to Mitchelton Vets mostly due the their proximity. They're located on Blackwood Street and with on-site parking there's no need to worry about trying to find a street park. Much like doctors surgery, there's nothing too outwardly different than any other vet surgery and, much like a doctor surgery you hope you never have to spend a lot of time in them. On the two occasions I've taken our dog here, the team have been helpful, on-time and affordable. They'll even send your pet insurance claim on to your provider on your behalf.

My research included driving out and having a look around at the kennel (these guys will happily show you around - tick) asking other friends who have had their dogs and cats stay and the final tick for me was when I asked my vet where he put his dogs. Yep. All roads pointed back to the Samford Pet Resort. They aren't cheap but the place is clean, with lots of staff and our doggy has always come back, happy, healthy and WASHED! I like that three is the option to get reports emailed to you, plus you can pay for extra walks and play time. The report card at the end of your pets holiday (always glowing for our pup of course) also says that each animal gets attention. They always book fast for holiday periods so plan ahead if you can.

The friendly staff went out of their way to explain to me all the health requirements needed for my new puppy without any expectation of joining. This was also reinforced a week later when I dropped past and the friendly staff provided me with some well needed answers and relief prior to picking up my puppy. I have since selected Wilston Vet as my vet for my puppy, Napoleon and have loved coming in for our check-ups and vaccinations.

Our dog Budhi (Japanese Spitz) had just come to live with us (we adopted her at 1.5 years old) and she had started throwing up her food every morning. Being a bit worried, and the consult fee here is pretty comparative $55-$59 we thought we'd give them a try. Dr Antje Costanzo saw our dog and was very good at telling us what to do, how to fast and other options to make her feel better. I also wanted to know a bit more about Advantix verses the Advocate that I had been using because they didn't cover worming... and Andrew at the counter was very good at pointing me in the right direction. We left feeling pretty good about our visit. Having said that, we usually feel pretty good about vets when we leave unless we're going there to put a dog down. What really blew us away was the follow up call 2 days later from Antje herself asking us how we were going and if everything was okay. And if there was anything please let her know... we had never received a follow up call from a vet before nor our own pet folder. So this definetely impressed us and we will definetely be back.

Every time we walk in, my puppy Churro and I are happily greeted by the staff. Churro particularly likes Andrew (the cool guy at reception) and whenever they see each other at the vet, my pup does a little pee because of all the excitement. The staff are so friendly and helpful. They always play with Churro while we wait for our appointment and love to exchange tips and share stories about other pets they've met. Dr Lucilla Pratt is Churro's vet. She is very patient with my impatient puppy who squirms- a lot! On the first visit we had, Churro was so anxious and seemed scared, Dr Lucilla gave him a dried pigs ear treat for him to teethe on- after that, they became best of friends. Dr Lucilla is always happy answer all the questions I have and even writes little notes to help me. After every check up, Churro is guaranteed cuddles and playtime with Dr Lucilla, which is just so heart warming to see. It's great to go to a vet who seem to love and care about your pet as much as you do. They have a lot of goodies in stock for your pet and great products. Andrew at reception is very helpful, if you're stuck with any questions I'm sure he'd be happy to help.

My cat seemed very happy when I picked her up. I had peace of mind to leave her for boarding because I could trust the vets and the nurses to feed her regularly and look after her emotionally and physically. The surgery is in such a convenient location , just off Milton Road, Toowong. I would board my cat there again.

I have put three dogs through the Coltrandi live in obedience training and I cannot recommend it highly enough. And my dogs absolutely love going there. From traumatised rescues to my most recent dog that went through training (Pembroke corgi) they all come back to me happy, healthy, smelling lovely and are amazing with obedience. My dogs love all the staff. My corgi was so excited to get pats from Col it was like he was her personal doggy God or rockstar. And he's a rockstar to all the other dogs too. It's super sweet to see how much they love him and the affection and care he gives them. It's clear my dogs and all dogs that stay at Coltrandi are treated with love and kindness. Thanks team! I met with Dr Cusack. She gave me a good first impression- she started singing 'Sussudio'- the song my dog is named after. When I asked about tips on training, I was told that I should enrol Sussudio into puppy training school. Explaining that I had limited funds, and again asking for some home-grown advice, she simply continued on the line of "puppy school really is the best training a dog can get". I didn't realise that vets were salespeople. In later visits to the vet, I found Dr Cusack to be condescending toward pet owners. She's highly technical in her explanations, which yes, does make me think that she knows her stuff, but if she can't deliver her point in terms understandable to those without a veterinary degree, what's the use? There only so many times you want to ask "can you dumb it down a little?" Sure, I would entrust my animal into the care of West End Vet, I'm not at all saying there are issues with incompetence. Dr Cusack and her staff are excellent with animals. You might just find yourself thinking that they're not so good with their human companions.

She is also crazy cheap. The other review isn't wrong though, her human level interaction isn't super and she can definitely leave you feeling overwhelmed and confronted (or confused if you have no medical background). With all that said she is still the best vet ever and I will never leave her (even if she has made me cry). If you can deal with her intensity and how manic she is she is well well well worth it.
