I want to single out some staff members who went over and beyond to help me (sorry that I know only first names). My main physical therapist, Kristen, was terrific. She was kind and patient with me, and encouraged me (gently) to push myself. Thanks, Kristen. Nurse Carole was among the hardest working staff members, and she was extremely helpful to me and my roommate. How she kept her cheerful demeanor for her entire shifts was a mystery. The facility's physician, Dr Elkrem, was careful and very pleasant every time we interacted. Several members of the facility's admin staff stood out for helping me and making me feel that my needs would be taken into account: the dietician, Jenny, head of PT, Kelly, and head of admissions, Jenny. Being in rehab is no fun, but these people made the challenging situation more than tolerable. And they got me ready to go home.

When we initiated round the clock care he wasn't keen on having a "stranger" with him all the time but that feeling faded quickly as he bonded with the aides who helped him through his day. At the time she was mentally as sharp as ever and the caregivers only needed to make her breakfast or dinner and to do grocery shopping and some cleaning. By the last few months of her life, my mother needed someone with her 24 hours a day. Whether it was for only a few hours a day or for 24 hours a day, Visiting Angels was able to provide caregivers that were competent and caring. Some even became my mother's dear friends. Throughout the years that Visiting Angels was helping my mother, our account manager, Joan, scheduled the caregivers, filled in when a caregiver was unavailable, did the shopping - not only for groceries but from Amazon as well, cooked and kept the refrigerator and freezer stocked with really good meals and generally looked out for my mother's safety and best interests. We trusted her completely and I truly believe that her involvement added years to my mother's life.
