The staff is great. They are usually very friendly and kind to the animals. The clinic does try to "sell up" so not a bargain and you have to be careful to not get charged for more than you need. My biggest concern was when something serious was going on with my cat. We paid for an x-ray but the vet never followed up. I finally called and asked if I could have a copy of the radiology report and essentially had to do any diagnosis myself. I decided to change vets because I was concerned that this might not be the best place to go for anything serious. read more

First visit, they said my dog needed a follow up vaccination- no biggie. HOWEVER, for the second visit they took my dog who has separation anxiety (rescue dog) in a back room for two hours FOR ONE VACCINE! . They said that it is their policy to have them seen by the vet for any vaccines- so of course, I was charged for another vet visit even though it was two weeks later. I sat in a sweltering waiting room the whole time ( no functioning conditioning). When my dog was finally returned to me, the person put her on the ground and another off-leash dog charged her! Now, I am traveling and realized that they didn't give any refills for her heartworm and flea/tick meds. Had to take time while traveling to call them. They sent one rx, but not the oher and are not answering my emails. So chaotic- and wasting my time/ money. DO NOT RECOMMEND this place! read more

Not today this time it was a male doctor who really didn't seem to care no hi and no goodbye wasn't sure if my appointment was finished At one point he told me that I was in the way. First, Dr. Crowe was a very kind, gently and knowledgable doctor. I believe that she truly cared about my dachshund. The front desk staff were lack luster at customer service and the vet assistant that handled my dog needs to be taught how to pick up a dachshund. There was several times I watched her pick him up in the middle, not supporting his rear end. First rules of doxie handing, support the rear end since they're so long. It made me cringe. As far as the estimate for one canine tooth extraction & cleaning. I was in such shock over the price that I couldn't even finish the appointment. Utter disappointment to feel I was being taken advantage of. I had gotten estimates prior, 900-1600 from MI. MI is not a cheap state. CC's estimate was over $2k to $6k. I walked out, called Dr. Kelly's Vet and had my pup in within a day for $1000 and he is on the road to recovery. I would recommend Dr. Crowe, but the rest of the office I was not impressed. read more

This small yet quaint clinic is awesome ! Dr. Zimmerman and her staff are all super energetic, caring and EFFICIENT ! She will inform you of any and all need shots / vaccinations to be done and as pet owner allow you to make the educated decision, not pressuring , also , we were desperate to get a same day appt and they were booked , but fortune be on our side and the receptionist called us promptly to say there was a cancellation. We got in and were able to obtain a prescription for our wiener dog, whom has " Cushing" disease!!!! ( we are snow birds , meds were left in Calgary etc) Plus they pre called our script in to pharmacy to boot. after our all day affair of previously jumping thru hoops and mental exhaustion. They are a great clinic so happy we found them ! They go above & beyond for sure ! read more

I took my Papillon in due to her not eating and her stomach was filling with fluid. She gained 1 1/2 lbs in a few days. Dr. (i use the term lightly) Zimmerman felt her stomach and suggested it was Valley Fever. They wanted to do blood test for Valley Fever which is over $500. They gave her shots for vomiting and pain meds and sent us on our way. When my dog became lethargic I called them to do an x-ray but their machine was down and told me to take her to emergency. I found Apache Trail Veterinary and they took me right in. The vet knew immediately by feeling her stomach it was pyometra, rescheduled his appointments and did immediate surgery. Rita Zimmerman almost killed my dog because a couple of days more the bacteria would have gotten into her system and killed her. Apache Trail Veterinary staff and Doctor are all about the pet! Just brought my blue heeler in for a rabies shot which is $30, however, I weighed my own dog and she got a few pets with a thermometer put in her a----. Little did I know my bill would be $115 to pet my dog and take its temperature. That is ridiculous; I was not in the room any more than 5 minutes. Do the math on hourly wage...... crazy..... All I wanted was a rabies shot. My animals are well taken care of and healthy. I was sitting next to a woman that showed me an estimate for her dog which looked healthy. $7000 dollars; a young gal came out to justify it and it was shocking, to clean the dogs teeth and something else. I will never do business with Caring Critters again; it is ashame Dr Zimmerman has let her business turn to sh____ . Good luck with your sham of ripping people off for their loved pets.... Waited an hour in lobby for scheduled euthanasia appointment. Staff separated us for iv insertion. I could hear the screams and cries of my fur baby down the hall behind 2 closed doors. A tech stuck her head in my room asked if they could sedate her.of course I said yes. Your staff needs to be educated on the difference between sedation and death! The screams stopped abruptly and they returned my little cat to the room with me. She was already dead! Unresponsive, flacid, pupils fixed and dilated, no skin surgery, not breathing! I used to love this clinic, Dr. Z is amazing, but yesterday Caring Critters really let me down. I brought my new puppy in for her first visit. The vet that I saw was so disrespectful and talked to me like I was stupid. He talked down to me like I have never had a puppy before. He made his judgment of me as soon as he saw her age and that she didn't have shots yet. He is a total fear monger. It was like he was trying to scare me into getting rid of her because I've never owned a lab. I feel like I paid $200 for him to tell me how to raise my dog and judge me. Also, he was so mean to the vet tech. He treated her like she was a child! It was so sad. And then when I went to leave I asked who the vet I would be seeing at our next appointment was and the receptionist was a total snob and snipped at me like I don't have a say in which vet I want to see. My little dog has gone to Caring Critters for ALL of her shots, exams and spaying. The staff was always very amicable. Two weeks after her spaying follow up exam, she developed a rash, sore (I did now what is was) on the incision. I was Told they could not see her for three weeks. They did not care what the problem was. They said they DO NOT take emergencies, sick dogs etc. Next appointment time only. I have since changed to a well known veterinary Hospital that does care and who saw and treated her then (after listening to my story) even before she was a patient of theirs. read more

I have a small dog, never had to use an animal hospital and this one is right next door to the Rv park . As a nurse from an ER in Mpls I was as under the assumption that animals were treated as we do people . I was wrong . This place does not except emergency walk ins . If triage means to sort , then yearly vaccines I would think would come in second . Whatever , then told me there booked for the month . Handed me a flyer and end of story . I absolutely love Doctot Z However, after going there for almost 12 years I tried to get my dog in 3 times when he went lame. Iwas told it would be a week before they could be see him. This happened on three occasions. The last time he was limping so bad I had to find another vet to see him. If you he could have been seeing the first time maybe something could have prevented it. However he ended up rupturing his knee and having a $5,000 surgery. This also happened with my little dog she develop pancreatitis and again they couldn't get her in for a week. When I tried to get my cat in they couldn't see her for another week or two and told me it was because of the winter visitors. They hey were just too booked up. This really upset me because I was a loyal customer that brought my pets to her exclusively. I had to take a backseat to Winter visitors when my animals were in crisis. I love that staff but had to find someone who would be able to see my kiddos when they were sick not a week after they've already been sick. All of my animals love the staff there but again we had to take a backseat to Winter visitors. Had to find another vet who could see them within 24 hours. I told staff why I was changing veterinarians thinking that maybe the doctor or someone from the staff would call me to find out what was going on. I never received received one call from anyone there. After 13 years! So disappointed and hurt read more

I went to Caring Critters because to have my dogs paw looked at. Dr. Zimmerman was out, the other veterinarian a rude old man named Dr. Horn was taking her patients. This guy has no bedside manner he's rude he is busy trying to upsell your Veterinary bill. Trying to sell me prescriptions and ointments before he even looked at my dog's paw. I will never go there again and this man will be losing doctor Zimmerman's clients right and left. It sure would be nice if we had an honest reputable Veterinary that truly cared about your animals and not their bottom line. read more

Dr. Zimmerman and her staff are truly caring so it's a proper name for the practice. They're responsive, get back to you with test results immediately, but most of all they treat their patients and their human clients with respect and dignity at a time when all the other animal hospitals are treating your beloved pets as if they're automobiles to be dropped off at the door and picked up later. Dr Zimmerman and staff were all very knowledgeable and caring Everything in Arizona is more expensive than in Texas, in Texas blood work would be 100.00 here they wanted $400.00 that is in excess. I took my German Shep. there because he was limping on his front paw. They told me he may have Valley Fever and wanted to run tests to see if that was the issue. I was presented a bill for nearly $1000.00 for blood work, treats and an anti inflammatory medicine. I called 3 other vets that were within 10 miles and all charged 1/2 of what this place did. When I asked the office manager why are they double and almost triple then the other local vets I was told it was because they were privately owned. Another ripoff business!!!!! I will say that the Dr was very good with my dog and I was very satisfied with the exam however trying to charge people 3 times as much as other places is crazy.... It is very interesting reading the negative reviews of the last couple years. Mine will be similar but startling to those of you believe in customer service. Yes, Snuggles, our 18 year old cat, had received very good vet service from Dr. Zimmerman. She took time in the office to respond to his kidney failure and to call us with results. However, we received a certified letter on December 8, after over 3 years of being a "customer" of "caring"?? critters and hundreds of dollars of billing paid. If you want continuous care for your pet, this is why you want to reconsider going to Caring Critters. 1. The name -- "hospital". They are not a hospital. If your pet needs care over night, they can't keep the pet. They are simply a clinic. 2. We were told the following reasons was leading to us having our 18 year old cat, Snuggles, who is dying from kidney disease, being "dissolved from their service: Why? 1. Since we were "dissatisfied with their costs". Yes, we chose not to accept their estimate of $1800 to $2400 of having our cat's tooth removed and teeth cleaned". My response -- since when does a customer's choice to not have a service done result in being dumped from the business. Ironically, Dr. Z actually recommended 2 mobile vets that resulted in a $250 charge for the dental work. I highly recommend Dr. J. Neufeld who does work all over the valley -- hard to get an appointment because her costs are so reasonable. 2. that I was" dissatisfied with their hours". No actually, I was dissatisfied that their answering machine said they were open until 6 -- so does this website and other printed information. When I asked why this wasn't fixed since it has been closing at 4 since the beginning of the COVID epidemic, I was told " oh yes, we know, but????" I made a trip to get pain medication and discovered they were closed. I had called (no answer) and thought they were open until 6. 3. "customer service" -- they have none. They often don't call back for hours to days after you leave a message. Important note -- they don't require customers to wear masks so you get to sit in their little waiting area with people who think masks aren't needed. 3. So, bottom line, our 18 year old Snuggles, has no vet. read more

Dr. Zimmerman is bilingual. She speaks fluent Bark. This clinic is more than five star. A friend of mine has gone here for 14.5 years, and we have been here where this incredible mind has given so much comfort to our rescue whose life has been placed on the line several times. Our rescue and other dog has had so much comfort, so much health from so much dedication and expertise. Took my cat because he had a spot he was licking till it bleed . They wanted me to have it cut out at a cost of up to 2400.00 also told me his teeth so bad they needed cleaned and maybe pulled. Took him to another vet, she gave him steroids and antibiotics and he is doing great, Aldo was nothing wrong with his teeth didn't even need cleaned. Don't go here!!!! read more

I took my dog in to check for fleas, which he didn't have, and they conned my elderly husband into five preventative prescriptions for a total cost of $286.00!!
