Mao with Blue in the back.
    Chris H.

My cat Blue was almost a year old and I noticed she was getting really lonely with just me as her playmate; that's when I have enough energy to actually play with her. Some days I could hear her meowing loudly as I get out of the car after a day's work. I needed a companion for my baby. I've seen pictures of Noah (now renamed Mao) on Craigslist and PetFinder but I thought someone would definitely adopt him since he's so adorable. Then on March, I happened to see an ad saying they're gonna have an adoption fair at PetSmart in Long Beach. I went just to see and Noah was the first cat I saw. His cage was right across the entrance. I went straight to his cage and he started rubbing his body against the cage and purring. Aww. What a sweetheart. After walking around, I went back and asked how to adopt him. They said I could give a down payment for the adoption fee and they'll hold him for me or I could go online and send in an application. Knowing someone was apt to adopt him, I went home and sent in an application anyway. If he got adopted, I was gonna get another one, probably an adult cat. They're the hardest ones to find a home for. Sure enough I got a response a day later that Noah was adopted. I was happy. Almost 2 months later, I saw his pic up again. What happened? Apparently, they returned him for shedding too much. Poor baby. Well, that's a sign. I resent my application, went, signed lots of papers and paid $150 and home we went. Now I have two siamese kitties running around my place. Mao is the sweetest cat. He loves to play and cuddle and purr.

    Misty May!

Adopted my beautiful baby Misty May from this organization in January. She is the most lovable cat and has been an amazing addition to our now kitty trio! Caring Friends was EXTREMELY HELPFUL and NICE! Their communication was great and they keep great care of all their cats waiting for new homes! I have recommended many friends to them and would adopt again in a heart beat! What I appreciated most is how much they care about the type of home and owners their cats are going in to. They won't just hand the cat over. More rescues like this are needed! Thank you to all the amazing volunteers that donate their lives and time to this organization!

Black kitties ready for adoption! They are super playful :)

When I was in desperate need of finding a safe new home for a stray German Shepherd named Luna, they went above and beyond to assist me. Not only did they offer guidance and support, but they also helped me connect with other rescue organizations and resources to give Luna the best possible chance of finding a loving home. Throughout the process, they were compassionate, professional, and focused on what was best for the dog. It is clear that every decision they make is based on the safety and welfare of the animals in their care. Their kindness, dedication, and willingness to help during a difficult situation made a lasting impression on me, and I am truly grateful for everything they did. I highly recommend Girls Dog Rescue to anyone looking for a rescue organization that genuinely cares about dogs and the community they serve.

After recently losing my beloved Yorkie of 9 years, my husband and I decided to honor her memory by…read morerescuing rather than purchasing from a breeder. We came across an adorable Shih Tzu pair (a brother and sister) and submitted an application expressing interest in one of them. Within seconds of submitting, I received a call. The representative hadn't read my application at all. When she asked if I currently had a dog and I explained mine had just passed, there was zero acknowledgment; no condolences, nothing. She then informed me it was "unethical" to adopt just one puppy and that I'd need to take both. When I agreed to take both, she reversed course, saying the siblings would "fight" and I couldn't take them together. When I offered to adopt two unrelated dogs instead, the story changed again; apparently a doctor had just been approved for the dog I applied for, mid-conversation, and I was redirected to a one-year-old Yorkie before being abruptly dismissed. The inconsistencies were glaring, the policies shifted in real time, and the entire interaction was handled without a shred of compassion. I am a registered nurse and my husband works in the entertainment industry; we are experienced, attentive pet owners who gave our Yorkie an exceptional life. None of that was considered because my application was never actually reviewed. This experience is precisely why so many people turn to breeders and pet stores instead of rescues. When grieving applicants are met with dismissiveness, fabricated barriers, and contradictory excuses, it doesn't serve the animals; it leaves them in shelters longer. I hope the organization takes a hard look at how their team communicates with prospective adopters.

ADVICE: "BE PERSISTENT"…read more Thank you and kudos to SCPR for taking their time to rescue Pomeranians and finding them the right fit homes. They are a trusted organization and the volunteers/staff truly care for the Pomeranians an want the best fit. The Poms come spade/nurtured, vaccinated, and microchipped. My Pom came with a ton of commands and housebroken and pad trained. Because of them, my heart is overly filled with joy knowing I am a human to that infamous CHLOE! I adopted Chloe on August 28, 2019 after 3.5 weeks of stalker her and sliding DMs to the organization/volunteers - more like blowing up their DMs. LOL. Like I said, "be persistent". - Continuously keep reaching out - Attend their events - Be vocal to the organization and volunteers how interested you are and what is the next step - Good luck being the right fit for your future resume Pomeranian The organization is great. Til this day they keep in touch! HERE'S MY STORY. I have given up trying to adopt a dog because it seems daunting and never ending with dismissing inquiries - it belittled my confidence in ever adopting a rescue. I decided to give my dog search one last try and I saw a picture of Chloe. When I want something, I will go beyond measures to get it. Chloe stole my heart and I knew she'd be mine. I went to the SCPR website and emailed them, followed their social media, and sent messages and received no response. I even noted their address and was determine to drive 1+ hrs but realize it doesn't look like a dog rescue facility. I did my "investigating" on InstaGram and connected a key person (Jasmine) in the organization and slid DM's her way. She connected me to the temp. foster mom (Theresa) caring for Chloe via phone to know more about her personality. She didn't tell me just the good stuff, she truthfully told me about who/how Chloe is - I appreciate that because I've had other organizations say anything just to loadoff the dog. Shortly after, they texted me about the meet and greet event coming up in Irvine that weekend and then it was announced online. I wasn't sure what was expected and so I arrived 2hrs early and waited near by. And was the first person to arrive at the event to meet Chloe and spend time with her. A ton of people were there to check out Chloe and I started to lose my confidence assuming maybe those people are better fit because this is my first dog as an adult and all these other people have dogs an etc. I stayed an extra 1.5hrs observing Chloe and chatting with volunteers and of course checking out my competition. I then asked the organization "what's the next step, I'd like to do a trial". According to them, I was the only one who stepped up and asked and so I got my chance. Little did they know, I have been observing Chloe through pictures and social media for 3 weeks that i have prepared for her to live with me even though I have yet met her (bought her a bed, tons of food she might like from a special dog deli, bought her a few mini tennis balls, bought a camera for my home so I can spy on her, seemed out local small dog parks to take her) - yah, I'm THAT dedicated type of person. Couple days later they arrived in San Diego to do a home inspection and drop Chloe off - I was truly ready for her. Our week trial went great, we were the right fit. While on trial, Chloe got fleas from the dog park and the organization allowed me to take her to their vet to get checked and get medication for her. During trial, they followed up to make sure everything was okay. Their lines of communication was open and I could reach out to them about anything. After a week, we went forward in making the adoption final! They given me a chance to love a rescue dog and I hope to provide Chloe with #livingherbestlife moments in San Diego.
