And I told my neighbor to take her to the vet, you know what she said? "I can't afford the vet. money is tight right now" how can you adopt a pet when you're financially struggling the poor dog is scratching in pain. Im sure my neighbor is not the only person out there, my cousin works in the vet hospital and tells me issues from clients just like my neighbors . I get it that pets need homes and rescue from being euthanized but cmon really? Don't put yourself on adopting a pet knowing you don't have the money, it's dumb and selfish, putting the pet in hope of happiness. This is also why pets end up going back to the shelter.

I was in tears and completely overwhelmed, and I was met with nothing but kindness, patience, and compassion. What really amazed me was watching how experienced and capable they were with the kittens. Within literally about ten minutes, she had all three babies fed full bottles, stimulated, comfortable, and peacefully back to sleep. Seeing how naturally and lovingly she cared for them immediately reassured me that I had brought them to the right place. They took what was an incredibly difficult and heartbreaking situation for me and made it so much easier. They even offered to send me updates and pictures of the kittens as they grow until they are eventually adopted, which means more to me than I can possibly explain. I am forever grateful to Love Fur Paws for taking these babies in, caring for them, and showing me so much compassion during such an emotional moment. Knowing that they are safe, fed, warm, and being cared for by people who clearly know exactly what they are doing has given me such peace of mind. I am…read moreupdating my review based on what happened afterward, including my attempts to address my kitten's health issues and messages eventually going unanswered. We adopted a Siamese kitten who had fleas at pickup, which was not disclosed beforehand. While picking fleas off him, we were told, "by the time I'm done with him he'll have no fleas," yet we found another flea as soon as we got home. The living conditions were also concerning. I personally saw roughly 12-13+ cats/kittens and 2 dogs in the apartment, a strong odor, and only about 1-2 litter boxes. We were told the dogs were contributing to the flea problem. Our kitten started vomiting the SAME DAY we adopted him. He later developed poor appetite, eye discharge, and significant dehydration. A veterinarian subsequently diagnosed him with feline herpesvirus, and we had to pay out of pocket for treatment and medication. I also repeatedly requested documentation of his vaccinations but have not been provided records verifying which vaccines he received. I understand rescue animals can get sick, but between the undisclosed fleas, conditions we personally observed, illness beginning immediately after adoption, veterinary expenses, lack of vaccination documentation, and eventually having my messages go unanswered, I cannot recommend this rescue based on my experience.

Update: After defeating fleas and bacterial+yeast ear…read moreinfection, kitty recently developed fip, a deadly disease that kills cats without a very long and expensive treatment. Despite all the care we provide for our indoor kitten, he has always been quite sickly. Even the vet commented on how often I visited their office within the last 3 months. If you are looking to adopt, just go to other rescues and shelters that actually care for their furbabies.

If you're looking to leave with a cat the same day, this probably isn't the place for you. Caring Friends ensures every home is the perfect fit, not "first come first serve".. People don't understand this is for a good reason. This is how they prevent these kitties from falling into the same situation they were in previously. You will most likely be denied if you're applying to buy a kitten as a present for your 3 year old...planning to make them indoor/outdoor..etc. (These are all good reasons and you should probably reevaluate your decision for the sake of the kitty you're trying to save.)

i'm torn about making this review. while i am so thankful for our dog, winston, i am very…read moredisappointed in the lack of care by the rescue. upon meeting winston, my boyfriend and i noticed one of his eyes looked a little cloudy. when we asked the staff about it, they insisted that it was nothing and referred to winston's medical records. he is such a sweet dog and he's been an amazing addition to our family. however, it has barely been a month and i've already had to spend $2k on vet bills. i tried contacting the priceless pets vet that they refer their customers to, however they were no help at all. i ended up finding my own vet who confirmed winston is blind on the eye we pointed out, his teeth/ mouth was filled with infections and decayed teeth, and he had a lot of fleas. he needed several teeth extracted, and in doing so, they confirmed his age to be 6-7 years old. priceless pets told us he was 4 years old. overall, i do not regret adopting winston. i just wish the shelter did a better job of taking care of their animals and disclosing important information so that people know what they're getting into. i was not anticipating spending $2k within the first month of adopting our dog. had this all been disclosed, i could've at least prepared better. if you're looking to adopt a dog from here, i encourage you to have them conduct a full medical examination before doing so. don't rely on the medical history paperwork they provide upon adoption.

Unlike many rescues that are solely foster-based, PPR has a physical location. This is a huge advantage because you can actually visit, meet the dogs (and cats), and even use their play yard to see if you get along before committing to adoption. The facility is clean and the animals appear well-cared for. Every volunteer I met was friendly and helpful, without being pushy like I've encountered at some other shelters. I'm so grateful this rescue exists to help with the animal overpopulation problem. I highly encourage everyone to check them out (and other rescues/shelters in the area) and consider adoption first when searching for a new family member!

I went the day after Christmas to do my meet and greet and spent an hour with her asking questions. I never felt rushed. I never felt like I was irritating her, she was just fabulous. Everything this rescue does seems to be top-notch. They even feed a high and more expensive food which completely impressed me because puppy nutrition is so important. We came across an adorable Shih Tzu pair (a brother and sister) and submitted an application expressing interest in one of them. Within seconds of submitting, I received a call. The representative hadn't read my application at all. When she asked if I currently had a dog and I explained mine had just passed, there was zero acknowledgment; no condolences, nothing. She then informed me it was "unethical" to adopt just one puppy and that I'd need to take both. When I agreed to take both, she reversed course, saying the siblings would "fight" and I couldn't take them together. When I offered to adopt two unrelated dogs instead, the story changed again; apparently a doctor had just been approved for the dog I applied for, mid-conversation, and I was redirected to a one-year-old Yorkie before being abruptly dismissed. The inconsistencies were glaring, the policies shifted in real time, and the entire interaction was handled without a shred of compassion. I am a registered nurse and my husband works in the entertainment industry; we are experienced, attentive pet owners who gave our Yorkie an exceptional life. None of that was considered because my application was never actually reviewed. This experience is precisely why so many people turn to breeders and pet stores instead of rescues. When grieving applicants are met with dismissiveness, fabricated barriers, and contradictory excuses, it doesn't serve the animals; it leaves them in shelters longer. I hope the organization takes a hard look at how their team communicates with prospective adopters.

My dog went to his grooming appointment today. He is a medium size dog and from our experience with…read moregrooming visits, it easily takes 3-4 hours for his service to be completed. We paid for the deluxe grooming package which includes: bath, haircut, nail trim, ear cleaning, scissoring feet and pad shaving, teeth brushing, sanitary trim, and anal gland cleaning. With this entire package and hearing from past groomers that he is not the easiest dog to groom, we received a message stating he was done in 2 hours and 15 minutes. Unusual from our experience! When we picked him up, we had to go back inside to ask them to do more sanitary trimming. Additionally, when we came home, our dog had poop stuck to his butt, but did not poop after we picked him up. So, did they even give him a bath? I doubt it because he didn't even smell clean. We also needed to use our dog trimmer to try to clean him up more. Seems like a waste of money and won't be going back.
