I used to really like this veterinary clinic. The veterinarians were always caring, and my dog's exams were done in the exam room with me present, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was a completely different experience. This appointment was my dog's annual checkup after he had recently survived a very serious illness. Because of everything he'd been through, I wanted to be involved in his exam and have the opportunity to discuss his recovery with the veterinarian. After we were placed in an exam room, the technician told me she was taking my dog to the back for a heartworm test and would be right back. Instead, more than 20 minutes passed. When she finally returned, I learned that his physical exam had already been completed and all of his vaccines had already been given while he was in the treatment area. The veterinarian did come into the exam room afterward, but by then I was so surprised and upset that the entire exam had already taken place without me that I wasn't able to have the conversation I had been hoping for. After everything my dog had recently been through, I had expected to be present for his examination and to discuss his recovery before it was over. To make matters worse, some of the information the technician relayed to the veterinarian was inaccurate, which only reinforced my concern that I wasn't included in the conversation about my dog's health. The following day, I received an automated text asking how Jack was doing. I replied by explaining my concerns about the appointment and how disappointed I was with the experience. I never received a response or acknowledgment from anyone at the clinic. Veterinary care is expensive, and I'm happy to pay for quality care. But I also expect to be part of my dog's examination and to have direct communication with the veterinarian, especially after a major medical event. I don't know why the clinic changed its procedures, but this experience was a significant step backward from the level of care and communication I had come to expect. read more

I want to share my experience with Caring Hands Veterinary Hospital (13741 Colorado Blvd, Thornton, CO) this past August 2025. Decades ago, I used them as my vet clinic, but they became too high in cost than other offices closer to me. It took me a long time to contemplate how I wanted to approach the unethical business practices happening at this business. On August 13, 2025, I contacted them about euthanasia for Noel, my almost 18-year-old kitty. At the time, Noel's health went down rapidly in a matter of 2 days. On that day, I made the difficult decision to have her humanely euthanized. I made a call to my established veterinary office and they were unable to schedule an appointment that day so I made calls to several vet offices looking for available appointments, but also getting price quotes, since we all need to be price conscious during these difficult times. Even though, Caring Hands Veterinary Hospital was priced higher, I chose to use their services. WHAT A MISTAKE! A friend and I were placed in a room after standing in their lobby for an extended amount of time after we arrived. In the room, while we waited to have the vet euthanize Noel, the vet tech managed the financial part of the transaction - IN THE EXAMINATION ROOM! My friend and I were crying our eyes out while I held on to Noel tightly for the last time and the amount charged was significantly HIGHER than what I was quoted on the phone. I wasn't in a position to leave and go to another clinic close by or the emergency vet hospital. Noel wasn't doing well, and I didn't want her to suffer. I value transparency and integrity in veterinary care, and I was disappointed to encounter price gouging or, at the very least, a failure to honor a clearly communicated quote. A week later or so, I called and eventually spoke to the office manager and explained the situation. I requested a refund to match the quoted price, and she was unreasonable about the situation. She acknowledged that a new employee provided the quote but was unwilling to honor it. She even told me the new employee would be disciplined because of the error. At that point, I mentioned perhaps coaching was a better choice. This experience left me feeling misled and financially strained, especially since I made decisions based on the information provided to me. I was very deliberate when I obtained and documented the quotes. I had each office's quotes written down giving a notebook page to each one I called. I asked the same questions to each office to make sure I had an accurate picture of what to expect before making the decision on what clinic to use. The total price they charged was $655.50 which included euthanasia, cremation with her ashes returned and the cremation urn. These charges were approximately $150 higher than originally quoted. Given my experience and what I feel was an exploitation of my grief, I would NEVER consider using Caring Hands Veterinary Hospital again. **UPDATE** - The Office Manager emailed and called me today (November 10th) offering me a full refund. I wonder why it had to come to this? It's sad that these small community businesses are being bought by these uncaring corporate businesses. read more

We recently welcomed a new puppy into our home and promptly scheduled an appointment with the closest veterinary hospital to have our pet examined. After waiting an entire week for the appointment, we were contacted the evening before and informed that our appointment was being canceled due to a windstorm. While inconvenient, we understood and agreed to reschedule for the following day at 10:00 a.m. Shortly thereafter, we observed that all other businesses in the same strip mall were operating without interruption. We contacted the clinic to inquire whether our original appointment could be honored, but were told the clinic was closed and would not accommodate the request. Later that same evening, we received another call asking if we could reschedule yet again. At that point, we explained that the appointment had already been rescheduled once and expressed concern over the lack of consideration for our time and schedule. Unfortunately, the staff member we spoke with was dismissive and conveyed little concern for the inconvenience caused. As a result, we scheduled an appointment with Eastlake Veterinary Services instead. This place was only a short distance, but the contrast in service was notable. They were welcoming, professional, able to see us the same day, and provided excellent care to both us and our new puppy. read more

After over 6 years, we are officially moving on and taking our dogs elsewhere. Customer Service has fallen off a cliff over the last 2-3 years and it's not a considerate or reliable place to take our dogs now. We called for a non-emergency visit, with no rush needed. We were told there were three times today, so we picked one for later in the day. Arrived early, around 2:20 for our 2:30pm appointment. Checked in, and just sat there. By 2:50, not a single person updated us or checked in with us. So I got up and the woman up front called to the back. No one came to see our dog. We walked out at 3pm. We will be taking all of our three dogs and future pets to another location. read more

Figured I'd add to this because I moved back to the area.... This was the only vet near me for a long time so despite the absurd pricing I had no other options, my cats hate the car so whatever is closest was the best option for them. PLEASE for the love of god never bring your pets here. My last visit was just over a year ago and I've been stressfully dealing with the consequences of going back ever since. My orange cat has had a history of developing struvite crystals in his blatter. This was a permanent thing according to other vets I had visited and he would need to be on prescription food for the rest of his life. The last time I went to this vet was to get a refill for his prescription food. After dragging my cat back to the vet and paying the 80 dollars for a prescription refill (I have since found out almost no other vet makes you do that) the main vet, something atkins I think, refused to refill my prescription because he couldn't see any sign of struvite crystals. I thought that made sense he wouldn't see any signs seeing as how the food is a preventative treatment but I'm not a vet and this location specifically said everything was fine he doesn't need the food if he doesn't have the crystals. Like an absolute idiot I listened. 2 months later (for the first time in years) my cat had a blockage again, only this time it was a complete blockage. I rushed him to an emergency vet were they told me my only options were to put him down or get him a PU surgery where they completely remove his genitals and redesign them to allow him to pee again. Obviously I'm keeping my cat alive so 8,000 dollars later the surgery was complete and he was back to good health. I took him to 4 different vets to ensure this operation went smoothly and to keep my cost under 10,000. Veterinary emergency care in Denver provided the initial diagnosis, north side emergency pet clinic provided overnight watch and care before and after the surgery, animal surgical care did the surgery, and banfield pet hospital provided the post operation care. Every single vet I talked to during this time explicitly said that the recommendation (forced) to take my cat off his prescription food was borderline malpractice. All 4 of those locations said that should have NEVER happened and they actually saved the name and address of this location so they can recommend all future patients avoid this it at all costs. All 4 clinics said it is 100% the fault of this vet that my cat almost died and I had to spend just over 8,000 dollars to stop that from happening. It was entirely this locations poor judgment that led to the complete blockage and that's no longer just my Opinion anymore, that's a bonafide fact. The look of surprise and disgust on all their faces when I told them this vet took my cat off the prescription food is indescribable, according to all other vets I've spoken with since my last visit here, it should have been common sense to keep him on the food and doing so would have prevented this emergency from happening. Please for the love of god do not bring your pets here, do not give this location any of your business or money. I've never been more angry at a business before in my life. PS, lesser of the problems I faced here but this vet never remembered the gender of my pets. Idk, it's not a big deal but it just shows that they don't care to learn anyone's pets and treat every animal as if it's a first time patient. Was kinda annoying having the vet who has seen my cat multiple times misgendering it, I guess they don't keep a file on your pets and they don't know anything about them. I made many phone calls to this vet regarding one issue with my dog and every single time they have gotten the information incorrect and have not called me back. This office also has high turnover with veterinarians and I don't think we have seen the same vet once. Horrible front desk customer service. The staff are amazing and helpful. My dogs always have a great time at Caring Hands and after reading some of the reviews that are mad about needing vaccines, I am SO so thankful that they enforce this rule because I know that my dogs are safe and protected from other illnesses that could be brought in by unvaccinated dogs. I am so sad to be writing this review as we have loved coming to this vet for over 10+ years but today we had a horrible experience. My mother brought our dog in for a follow up appt this morning and was taken back to a room. She sat in the room for over 30 minutes with no one coming in to treat our dog. I understand that things happen but at least send someone in to say, " I am so sorry, we are running behind and it with me --- more minutes" to acknowledge we are there waiting. My mom came out to the front to make sure someone knew she was in there. Both ladies were on the phone so she was waiting patiently. They had both made eye contact with her and knew she was there. One hung up the phone and didn't say anything and just continued to make calls and turned away from my mom. What customer service is that? We got "coupons" for a "free" wellness exam from this place at Thornton Fest this year. We are not happy with our current vet because the care has gone severely downhill the last couple of years so I thought this was a perfect opportunity to try out a new vet. Turns out the coupon was extremely deceptive. My husband took one of our dogs in, they took the coupon back to the vet and said "oh, well this is just if you have no concerns, anything else will be extra" so what exactly IS a wellness exam?? Because we took him in and they took his temp and basically said everything else would not fall under the coupon. Is the wellness exam literally just looking at the animal?? No listening to their heart, no nail trim, no looking at their teeth, absolutely nothing?? I get if there is extra work needed like blood tests, vaccines whatever, that is an extra cost but what exactly are you offering free?? They said the coupon "waives" the $89 exam fee. Okay - say put THAT on the coupon. Not FREE wellness check. So, I'd love to know what falls under the waived exam because they basically did absolutely nothing, told him they couldn't help him and pushed them out the door. The way they reacted almost made us feel stupid for bringing our dog in, like "why tf are you even here?" vibes. Glad I dodged a bullet with this place and didn't spend a dime because their care seems similar if not worse than our current vet. So Caring Hands started great. We brought our puppies in and kept coming back for their appointments, which are more expensive with the vet exam fee than other places. But they were nice and accommodating. But, first of all, the appointment time is set and without fail, you always wait 10-15 minutes to be seen in a room. But if you are late, it's the hugest deal and sometimes cancelled. For our puppies they would do everything in the same room with us, then they started taking our dogs to a separate room for vaccinations and check-ups. So the last visit my 1 year old dog was prescribed anxiety medication because she was "overreactive" to the vaccinations. How about first go to isn't extra medication and just let her stay with us? Even a muzzle would be acceptable. I didn't like that and the other reviews of lack of care just pushed us out completely. Now we'll be taking our dogs elsewhere, where they don't want to just drug up dogs. Maybe mine just didn't like them. Dogs can sense people and I'm gonna trust my dog and my guts. Plus, everything is so overpriced which was accepted for the previous care. But not worth it. There is a great dog and cat store right next to it, Chuck & Don's, but they have locations everywhere. Yesterday my puppy had an appointment for vaccines, but my older dog was sick, so my husband brought both dogs and told them that he would make another appoint for the puppy if they could not see both because the older dog was acting strange and very sick. they said "NO" we cannot see her today you'll have to make an appt for next week. Groo.ers a sweet but are not experienced at knowing dogs. I have a pocket that was kind of a rescue. He gets nervous with the clippers. We had a groomer for 5 years .Did a great job. She moved. We got another one she did a great job.she left. Went to caring hands they did not know what to do.We were told in the past don't drug him it will confuse him and cause more problems. Caring hands drug him with meds that cause anxiety. Not smart. The second time they added one more pill.thay could not groomer him and he was sick for 5 days.we talked to roberts we wanted money back.He said they did notthing wrong snd that wr did not grab all pills.I told them we asked about all pills and the reception said 2 iff them were the ones we already have.Roberts said tTHEY made a mistake the new pills were stronger. Been taking my dog there for years to have them call out of the blue and cancel her grooming appointment because as of yesterday they are requiring her to get a new vaccine just to be groomed. We ask "oh why wasn't this brought up the last time she was groomed or seen by the vet." Their answer "oh well we are just now enforcing it". What a joke find a different vet / groomer that respects your time and animals. These new management people must be money hungry to all of a sudden require this new vaccine. This place needs to change its name. They don't care about their customers or the animals. It's just a revolving door to make as much money as possible. I had car problems and had to start walking there with my 16 week old puppy and called to tell them I'd be 15 minutes late. Even with notice they told me there is ZERO TOLERANCE on appointments and they would cancel anything at 10 minute to the second. Even with me trying to get there and potentially walking my puppy beyond his range (though I was going to carry him and maybe Uber back). I told them I'd find another vet and they sent me his records within 2 minutes, because apparently they only want customers who conform to their zero tolerance policies at all times. I'm looking to find a vet that actually cares about people, and animals, and doesn't treat them like numbers. This is not the place. They don't care about you and they won't care about your animal. I've never been late before and even called ahead to be courteous and let them know - she told me it was fine - she proceeded to call back 1 min later as i was pulling into the parking lot stating the doctor can't see me anymore. 12 minutes late...You guys clearly don't give a shit about your customers and can't even give an inch to people who pay thousands of dollars and years of loyalty. We have been taking 3 animals to this vet for close to 10yrs. 2 dogs 1 cat. Last July my 19yr old cat was very sick. We called in for an emergency visit as soon as they opened... was told I needed to wait almost 2wks for an appt or take her somewhere else. We did and unfortunately she had to be put down the next day. The outcome would have been the same for her but unfortunately I was sent elsewhere to be told I needed to let her go. Next issue. 9yr old GSD has severe anxiety. He can't settle, relax, or calm himself. Clearly this is not good for him. This anxiety was diagnosed by our original doctor at this practice 7yrs ago. Once our doctor left this practice...we have seen 2 "new" doctors. Neither one of these doctors would continue with the care and meds my original doctor prescribed and was working for years. Although not ideal, trazodone is safe for daily long term. It's the only effective treatment for him. We have tried 3 other meds and they do not work. Now we're being told to see a behavioral specialist? For what? He doesn't need training. If it was actually a neurologist that he needs to see then give me a referral or suggestion of another doctor. This doctor even said "would you give your husband sedatives everyday?"... not a good look. We have had nothing but issues actually filling prescriptions. 2 months ago I held off on writing a review but I should have done it then and not returned. I spoke to the director and he admitted that they do actually have some issues to work through in this clinic. ( I brought up all the yelp and google reviews on this SAME issue) Doctors not filling scripts in a timely manner. Staff "dropping the ball" in communication with doctors and patients. And now yesterday. Called in for more trazodone revived a call back and spoke to a director...during the conversation she told me her Dalmatian has the same issues etc...I asked if nothing else works "is trazodone an option for daily use?" Yes, she said. End of conversation. I asked if I could book appointment so we can discuss meds. I needed up getting in 2hrs later. Dr. Glasgow is who we have seen 2x now. This visit was awful. I feel like I wasn't being heard. He definitely didn't like that I brought up my past doctors diagnosis/care. He left came back and didn't address me he addressed my husband. I spoke up and said he's my dog talk to me. He was rude and condescending we both became elevated and I declined the meds and said we were done. The doctor told me to find another clinic...told him i was way ahead of him on that ...and he said "you better make sure you pay!" I lost it. I have paid every bill at time it was due. No matter the cost. And let me tell you this place isn't even moderate in prices. It's the higher end (6mo worth of meds that didnt work for us $700). I left my husband to pay. The doctor came out again to make a comment to my husband...it felt like he needed the last word. Very disappointed. After new ownership this place has gone way down. And prices just keep going up. Caring Hands has been the only vet facility that I have taken my dog, and I have enjoyed the energetic staff and care taken of my fur baby. However, I will not be returning. I was shocked today, easily charged $160 for a sedated dog groom, only to pick up my dog, with some pills and NO GROOM. Now I know one cannot control the temperament of a dog, and unfortunately my old man doesn't like his feet touched...... but not a discount, or "let's book him again and we won't charge"..... just a bill and some pills. $160 is a lot for nothing! To say that I am disappointed is an understatement. I tried to get his nails cut there too, with no success, and again, just a bill. I found a mobile business that comes monthly for his nails, so it IS possible. And I think it is possible to get a groom for a lot cheaper- or at least give the dog a bone! read more

I brought my previous dog here 8 years ago and they were amazing, Dr Jones specifically. So when I got a new dog in the last year I brought her to Caring Hands but the service has dramatically decreased, to the point where I'm going to have to find a new clinic. My dog had a cyst removed a week ago and I've been trying for 2 days to get a simple but important question about her prescription answered via email, phone calls, can't get a response from anyone. You can never get through when you try to call. They are simply too busy and understaffed to provide quality care. And it's a shame because they used to be wonderful. read more

Their hours reduced and this was not posted anywhere before they made the change, including the entry door. When dropping off our cat for procedures, the later start time causes everyone to back up before the doors open and check in is long. We now have to be late into work AND leave early due to their reduced hours that they did not inform us about. In addition, they require a tech to look over the animals before allowing the owner to leave. This takes at least 30min for them to look and say "okay, come back later". On top of that, we were forgotten in the room and had to go look for someone to check us in. They were shocked when they realized we were still there. Our cat just had a dental with a shaved arm for the IV. All good - I realized later on they CUT OFF his whiskers on one side! He's been continuing disoriented/unbalanced behavior because someone kept the trimmers going and whacked his whiskers. This is painful to cats and it was not admitted to at pick up, and that is the part I have huge issue with. read more

Since becoming a client 5 years ago, I have seen the vet staff turn over a number of times, and I don't trust the current vet that I have been assigned to have the knowledge needed to provide services to a senior dog. (Note that none of the vets on the website are currently in the practice.) The front staff has also turned over several times, and is inadequate for the work that needs to be done. Calls and emails go unanswered. Prices are very high, e.g. $38 for anal gland expression, $75 for an allergy injection. Side note - if you are thinking about boarding a dog there, I suggest touring their downstairs facility and discuss specifically what your dog's daily routing would be. Same for doggy day care. I was interested in both, and decided not to take my dogs there. Bottom line - I am looking for another general vet in the area. read more

Well let me put it this way. My Lucy had TPL surgery at this clinic when she was 6 1/2 yrs old. Rough recovery they sent her home same day. Mind you they dont employ a in house surgeon. They rely on traveling surgeons so you really dont know who is doing it because you never meet them. A year and a half of taking her back into the clinic over and over because the spot in the knee where all the hardware was installed kept persistantly irritating her. Hundreds of dollars wasted on tests that were probably not being performed because if they had been they would have found what was going on or just chose not to tell me due to saving their own asses from a lawsuit. Not to mention this botched surgery was almost $4,000.00. Had her other rear leg not needed tpl surgery 2yrs later she would not be here today. The boulder vetrinary hospital took 1 look at her leg and new something was wrong. When they performed the bacteria test it came back with terrible result. She had a bad infection due to the metal being incompatable or not sterile when implanted and it had to come out asap. She spent close to 3days in the hospital after corrective surgery with heavy rounds of i.v. antiiotics. 3days later she came home followed by her other leg being repaired 4weeks later which was also successful. Needless to say if your animal or best friend needs surgery do your research dont just let some vet clinic like caring hands b.s. you just so they can make a large ammount of $ off of you. Because the 1st surgery and all of the followed visits to caring hands cost close to$7500. To correct what they had done còst another $3600. But thanks to the boulder vet hospital Lucy is ĥappy and running great and just turned 9 read more

Update: We have been working with Caring Hands on my dog's anxiety with medication. However, when I called asking for a change of dosage, the only vet on staff was Dr. Mills. She was incredibly rude and wasted no time telling me she did not think my dog trainer was good enough, that I expected too much, and that I should REHOME my dog - as in, get rid of her. Really?? I rescued a severely abused dog and worked with her for only 2 months and I'm told to get rid of her...disgraceful. I will not be getting rid of my dog, or stopping her training, or no longer medicating her so she can be comfortable. Thanks, but no thanks. We will not be going back. read more

The day after the procedure we noticed he was still not acting normal so we took him to urgent care where they did another round of X-rays. To our surprise, we found out there was the still the SAME amount of stool in his colon from the day prior! The doctor at urgent care questioned if Caring Hands even did anything as he could not have gotten that backed up in a day! So we paid another 800 dollars to urgent care to have the procedure done correctly. Not to mention the doctor at urgent care got all the stool out and proved it was all out by showing us a follow up x-ray at no charge to us! Something Caring Hands and Dr. Langford did NOT do or even offer. No wonder why she didn't offer, she didn't do anything! In fact all Caring Hands offered to do is for us to pay another 700-800 for another procedure to get the rest out and then to come back in 3 weeks and pay another 450 for follow up X-rays in hopes it was all gone. So another 1200 dollars!!! The X-rays at urgent care were only 100 and the total for everything was 800 and he was completely cleared out! The doctor at urgent care even refunded some money because it took her less time than she originally anticipated! Caring Hands is dishonest; all they do is charge you an outrageous amount of money and clearly do not do as they say they are going to do! Further, they did not even communicate that our cat was ready for pick up until 5:10, when they close at 5:30! He was ready much earlier in the day. When we got the call at 5:10, this is when Dr. Langford told us that our cat needed 24/7 fluids and we needed to take him to urgent care! She WAITED till closing to tell us! Then she expected us to get to the facility in record time before they closed to pick him up. We had to have a friend go get our cat because we were no where near their office (which we notified them that we would be in Arvada after 4!) She couldn't even be bothered to stay with our cat till we could get there due to their mistake in not communicating he was ready to be picked up. All this to say they didn't even offer to refund any portion of the 1200 dollars spent to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Save your energy, money and your pet and go to the Community Hospital off Washington! Caring Hands is absolutely TERRIBLE! read more

We have taken our dogs to Caring Hands for many years. However, in the last year the quality of responsiveness to questions of getting refills via 1800 pet meds has been extremely slow and often frustrating. I have tried 3 times in the last 3 days to get an answer with regard to the tests performed on my dog so that I get the prescription renewed...I800pet meds is still waiting for a response from the Vets office and I am still waiting on a callback from my 3 calls this week regarding this issue. This isn't the 1st time, this has gotten increasingly frustrating trying to get refills for my pet on a med that he needs daily. read more

We love Caring Hands for boarding, but also just started using them in the last few months for Veterinary services for our two dogs. They are just wonderful. It is so nice to have for boarding, and we can get their shots there too. When we are away, I feel they are in great hands. We have used the Daycare also. It is moderate in price. I love the outdoor play areas for the dogs. Beautiful kennels. I highly recommend! read more

This week was the 2nd time I had to bring my dog due to my vet not being able to take him. My dog suffered AHDS that was really tough for me and my family seeing him suffer. Dr. Taylor was very thorough in explaining the details and treatment and was very sensitive and considerate to the out of pocket costs. The staff was very helpful and had a sense of urgency both times that we had an emergency which I cannot say the same for my current care provider who's failed me twice now. I can't say enough about the care that the staff has provided to us. I felt very at ease knowing that my dog was well taken care of. Also with the fact that they're located right behind my house is great knowing that I have a place right around the corner that I can count on in case of future emergencies. read more

This place has reallllly gone downhill in the last year. They hire vets basically out of vet school with no experience, prices have gone up considerably and they keep canceling daycare without warning. They also keep hounding me, saying I owe money when I have paid every single bill at the time of service. Dr Schneider came into the room for an exam, not once did he check heart, ears, eyes, nothing! He literally sat down with my dog, talked to me for about 5 min and left. I was charged for a full exam, though. I've moved on to a vet who actually cares. read more

We picked up our black lab Jacks for the last time from doggie daycare due to our relocation to the east coast. The entire staff wished us well and told us how much they enjoyed having our Jacks in daycare ( he is the sweetest lab ever). Can't say enough nice things about this business. Vets are wonderful and the doggie daycare is top notch, they always took care of our Jacks! Special shout out to Tanya! We will miss you and everyone!
