I rarely write reviews. City Bark in Thornton deserves one! When walking into the facility you have a genuine feeling that your pets will be taken care of. I've been to well over 10 different facilities to have my dogs attend day care and there are many times I'd pick them up and they were frightful or I felt they've been mistreated. This being a new facility, the atmosphere is very inviting, staff is friendly, facility is clean, and very accommodating when it comes to drop off times. (Some places only allow certain drop off and pick up times.) I also liked how they are open until 8 PM. Not only do I feel safe having my dogs dropped off here, I also appreciate the interpersonal communication with the staff. Kudos! read more

I took my dogs to City Bark for a free Day of Play, and unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. My dogs were in day boarding and were not participating in group play with other dogs. When my younger dog came home, he had a scratch near his right eye that later developed into a large infected lump. I had to take him to the veterinarian, where he was examined and started on antibiotics for the infection. What was supposed to be a free day ended up becoming a stressful and expensive vet visit. I was also disappointed that my dog who was injured came home with his gear put on backwards, which made me question the level of care and attention both of my dogs received while in City Bark's care. I understand that accidents can happen, but since my dogs were not playing with other dogs, I was especially concerned about how the injury occurred. Overall, this experience left me disappointed, and I will not be bringing my dogs back. read more

Recently moved to northern Thornton area and needed to establish a new relationship with a boarding facility for my dogs. City Bark is a few miles away so I scheduled an evaluation visit that went well. A few days later I used them for daycare before a week long boarding stay. City Bark employees were friendly and explained the process. During the boarding visit I received a daily update that included a photo, my dog's activity and the amount of food they consumed. This place was great at first I enjoyed watching my dog play on the cameras and see her have fun outside with the water and other dogs. It was great for her to socialize and burn her energy. The only problem I have is we don't see the back room where they keep the dogs for their "afternoon breaks". I had a friend that used to work there and she warned me that it was unsanitary and they don't wash their beds or clean the kennels after each pup. Sure enough we got proven right. My dog got pink eye her second week there then kennel cough her 3rd week! I asked the staff if they had kennel cough going around and they said no. Took my dog to the vet and she was diagnosed with it. My dog was sick for a couple weeks. And I had to buy medication for both instances. It's so hard to trust places. No signs of physical abuse but they need to work on their cleanliness. read more

Our dog loves going and playing with the other dogs. I love that it is clean and well supervised.

I boarded my pup, only 4 months old. I was worried, she had hardly seen another dog. They updated me daily with pics and assessments of her behavior. She went from anxious to happy and playful in one day, while I was gone on a trip. By the time I picked her up, she had a gang of friends. She got her first contact with other dogs, and when it was time to go home, she almost wanted to go back in anyway, she got used to other dogs (what I wanted) and had returned to us happy and playful and relatively obedient (for a young pup) I would give 10 out of 5 stars rating for City Bark, if that were possible. Our two dogs really enjoy City Bark Thornton, 3 weeks ago the staff put our girls in great danger by putting them in with the large dogs. When I went to pick them up on their normal day the staff member went to find the girls in the small dog area but I saw them in the large dog area and my smallest dog was getting stepped on by much larger dogs. I alerted the staff about this and they did not seem to care. I finally managed to get someone to get them out of this very dangerouse situation. My wife and I tried to contact management but phone calls were not returned, emails were not returned. I finally talked to the manager late the next day after trying multiple times to talk to them. I was promessed a refund for the day but 3 weeks later still nothing. My wife contacted the head office over 2 weeks ago and they said they would take care of this but still nothing. read more

I absolutely love City Bark Thornton. My dog, Stone, gets so excited to get dropped off for daycare. It's clear from when we drop him off and pick him up that he's had a great time. The staff know him by name, and are always so excited to see him. It makes me feel really comfortable taking him here because he's not just another dog- he's loved and cared for by all the employees. We also use the boarding services while we are out of town. They always take the time to give him extra loving and I really appreciate it. read more

VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE/NEGLECT IN BOARDING No one wants to help each other out at the front desk. If questions are asked, the response is always - "I don't know or I am not sure" instead of going to find another employee for that information. I was completely ignored whole standing at the counter to drop off pets for grooming. The employee was helping someone else and had me wait 15 minutes while she filled out information for a customer. Common sense would dictate that she acknowledge my presence and say she will be with me in a minute or offer to get another employee to help instead of refusing to acknowledge me standing within feet of her. Cat came back with extra food even though food was portioned for each day of boarding. His treat ball was filled with his food instead of his pre portioned baggies of treats for each day so he couldn't use his treat ball and it had to be thrown out since it was jammed with the wrong items. Three dogs came back ill from 4 days of boarding. All three dogs came back with a cough and wheezing sound as if they were choking and trying to take in air. One of the dogs had 4 days suffering from diarrhea. One of the times she had a bowel movement, there were chunks of a blanket in her stool. We DID NOT include a blanket for boarding knowing the two 3 year old littermates chew on everything. The third dog lost a lot of weight despite me being very explicit in my instructions that she has separation anxiety and most likely will not eat and needs to be separated for feeding and will need something extra mixed in with her food to encouraging eating. They assured me they do this and clearly this did not take place. I will never entrust my pets in their care ever again. read more

I started taking my dog here bc they were open on Sunday's and my friend was taking her dog there. We wanted them to meet and thought it would be a great place. This is now the second time I have noticed that my dog has been Kenneled for 5 or more hours! Why would i pay you to Keep my dog in a Kennel and i don't kennel her at home?! She needs to play! She needs to get her energy out! I could have left her at home while i worked and not had to worry that she may be locked in a box! This is absolutely unacceptable! Its pure GREED and its INHUMAN!!!!!!!!!!! I am LIVID! Why would i take my dog here ever again?! You charge $40 for a full day, a full day to keep my dog locked in a kennel?! I DON'T THINK SO!!!!! I don't care if you are short staffed, hire more people, pay them more! Treat them better so they stay, so our pups don't have to suffer. Or don't run this kind of "business" would you like your child locked in a box for 5 plus hours?! I don't think so! You have lost a regular customer and i will be telling everyone how AWFUL it is that you treat animals there bc I am not paying for my pup to be locked in a box! I HATE to write this review, but it's been two and a half days and no one from City Bark has cared to call. So here it goes. A year ago, we took our golden retriever in for daycare. They gave him to another family to take home... and when my husband went to pick him up, they brought out the wrong dog. My husband knew immediately this was not our dog, but apparently that was the not the case for the family that took Oliver. They had him for 8 hours. Right after we checked him in, they gave him to a family picking up a dog from grooming. I will say that at the time, they handled this as best they could. Which is the only reason that I didn't make a fuss or go public. As a former news anchor and reporter of 25 years, the media would have eaten this up. BUT... They promised us discounts or some free services if we stayed. While that NEVER happened, we did stay thinking that we would never have another issue. Surely they had noted in the system what happened. Welp, on Sunday, my husband went to pick Ollie up from being boarded. They brought out the wrong dog. My husband, who is usually calm, was furious. He asked for the manager (who wasn't there) to call us... I even filled out the feedback form I received the next day citing this story and we've yet to hear anything. At this point, don't bother calling. We won't be back and I will leave this review on multiple channels. Please, be very aware that they don't have a good process or system for keeping track of your pet. read more

When we got my dogs items back, everything was completely drenched in urine, visibly. My dog reeked of urine as well so they clearly didn't bother to check up on her. We loved bringing our pup here but they started ghosting us for some reason. They stopped accepting my reservations online, will not return my text messages and will not pick up the phone when I call. We have never had any complaints about our dog at all, in fact, when I pick up the staff always say how he's the sweetest boy. I had to move to another doggy day care. Ella loves coming to City Bark! Every time I call, they know her by name and ask how she's doing. Yes, we have had a couple incidents of injuries, but they handled it professionally and with love. (Ella plays hard... totally wasn't their fault). You can tell when they pick her up that she's very well cared for and she goes with them easily. They have wonderful events as well! Try them out! My girl Winter LOVES this place. We go for all day play (daycare) twice a week with the occasional groom. She is always excited to get out of the car and greet the staff. I can tell she has her favorite staff members but she is always excited to come and play with her friends. The staff is so friendly and helpful with any questions about her day! And the photos from their events are HILARIOUS. My girl hates being groomed but I know they work with my pup to help her feel more comfortable. She always comes home happy (and when groomed- smelling great). While we haven't had the need to board her yet, when the time comes I am confident in taking her to City Bark and trusting the staff will love her just as I do at home. read more

I came to City Bark for a grooming appointment as they were one of the few places to get my pup in quickly and the groomer did a great job and was very friendly. However, I did recognize a cut/abrasion on her back leg so I had to take her to the vet due to the issue. After calling City Bark back and speaking with the salon manager, we spoke about what could have caused the cut and after briefly disagreeing on where the cut could have came from we discussed it further and came to terms to make everything right. Although I wish the issue didn't happen, I understand that mistakes can happen and I am very pleased with how the salon manager handled the situation. read more

City Bark did reach out and offer a complimentary groom to fix Hopes hair, when I was on my way to pick her up the grooming salon called and explained because of the previous groomers mistake she had to cut her hair a lot shorter than expected. Now she's very short and no longer looks like herself. My kids said she looks like a rat and all my friends are questioning me as to why I did this to her I gave the groomer a $50 tip because 1st that's all I had and 2nd because I didn't think it was fair to work her for free. I'm still very unhappy and I don't know which groom was worse, all in all I won't be returning for grooming I'm now looking into places that specialize in poodle grooms. The picture I provided with her in a dress is a few days before she was groomed, and what she looks like today. My poor baby was butchered, she doesn't know but it hurts my heart every time I look at her little face. read more

GREED comes to mind when about This company!!!!! They are most often WAY over capacity and don't provide the care they are charging customers and promising the animals. Customers that are paying for extra care are wasting their money. But more importantly, those poor dogs are being left in their so called "suites" ALL day. What a lousy lousy place. First, when you pull up you can hear them yelling at the dogs in the kennels. They're dogs. They bark. Second their groomers are absolutely the worst. They don't take direction and charge you a ridiculous amount for you dog to look awful. If you don't know the cut we're asking for ask for some clarification don't just do it. $210.00 later for some ugly ass dogs because the groomers don't know what they're doing. Don't waste your money because they do make you pay before you even get to see the dogs finished, probably to ensure they get their money. *** they were groomed by the manager who called very defensively after I called to complain. Beautiful daycare and boarding facility, my three dogs have done day play here a handful of times and looked like they were having a blast. The staff have always been friendly and helpful even calling us during our boy Hunter's trial day to let us know he had a a flair up of his allergies causing a heat rash. read more

Overall not horrible but 2 things they could have done better: 1. Even after filling out paperwork and consent form online, the check-in process required me to repeat much of the information which takes away from the convenience of a quick curbside drop off. 2. When I dropped off, I was advised that the dogs are usually given a peanut butter treat and asked if that would be okay for my dog which I assumed was more about allergies than anything. What was conveniently left out of that was the fact that the treat would cost an additional $10/serving. Even though this will not break the bank, as a matter of principle I always find it more honorable when people give you all the information upfront and allow you to make a fully informed decision. read more

I gave this place multiple chances before I've now decided to pull him from going here all together. My dog was straight up NOT fed for an entire day once. The following time I brought him in I had a measuring cup with explicit instructions on 1CUP and they fed him everything in there in one feeding (which was probably a day and a half's worth of food) and he was super sick the entire night after that. The manager was apologetic at least after that. Our dog would also come home and have to take a 5 minute pee upon arrival which made me question whether or not my dog was taken out to pee as much as they claim. Anytime we've taken him little by little he was more and more afraid of going inside there. We boarded him for one night, paid for extra walks & a picture. We received NO picture (that has happened more than once now). This location also has zero video cameras for you to check on the dog like the website says. Our dog came home with a gash on his eye and no one said a thing to us about it. The majority of the time we dropped off/picked up we felt like we were bothering them. I'm pretty sure 85% of the staff here are teenagers who have no real training in dog care. My dog (a puppy) jumped on the door to get out and get to me upon leaving and the one older woman (blonde) who works there yelled at my dog in a very unnecessary way on the way out. He was just so excited to see me since probably hated being there. I should have stopped letting my dog come here after the feeding incident. We just did an interview with Waggin Tails & it's instantly a better experience. That staff knows every dogs name as soon as they come in, were professional & also told us that we're the 5th or 6th client to come in saying they needed a new place because they had a bad experience at City Bark. I cannot say enough great things about City Bark. David and the entire staff are fantastic. They are always kind and professional and strive to make me and my pup Cooper feel welcomed. The facility is clean and inviting and I have never felt that Coop wasn't getting the best care and attention. Very polite employees. I was surprised to see that they collected information from the vet so I didn't have to bring it. They make everything so easy and they have been patient while working with our dogs on their nervousness. Definitely give them a shot. read more
