Lovely stay at this traditional bed & breakfast within one block off the Ocean and a 15 minute drive to the Borgata in Atlantic City. Check-in was seamless; our room and bathroom were a nice size, comfortable, and clean; and, parking was sufficiently convenient within a short block's walk with 15-minute parking directly out front for loading/unloading your vehicle before parking in the lot. The parlor offers homemade cookies and a coffee station which also includes tea and hot cocoa. Wine glasses are available if you have a bottle with you. Full breakfast is great with juice, coffee, and your choice of eggs, French toast, bacon, turkey bacon, and more. Would definitely recommend and look forward to returning. read more

The hosts were so kind and generous making sure we had everything we needed. The bed was incredibly comfortable - slept so well. The best part is they're dog friendly!! We have been coming to Carisbrook (now North Beach) for six years with our dog. We have been met with clean rooms, ample shampoo/towels/etc, and wonderful hospitality. This is my first experience ever with a Bed and Breakfast and it was quite great! As soon as we walked into the foyer, the house felt warm and cozy. We stayed here as a more affordable option to the big casino's for new years eve. The location is very easy to find, in the summer it must be great to be literally half a block from the beach. We stayed in the first floor, room #3, which was a smaller room right when you walk in. I don't suggest getting this room if you are a light sleeper, since you do hear everything happening in the living room that is adjacent to the room. Luckily for us, we sleep through almost anything. The bed was very comfy, we had a nice sized tv inside and had all the amenities of a hotel room available. Although the fridge and ice were outside the room, it wasn't a big deal. The personal touches of the Carisbrooke that I loved was how they gave out champagne, cheese and snacks upon arrival. They also had free water, soda and juice and brownies and fruit available. As for the next morning, it was a gourmet breakfast menu we got to pick from pancakes, omlettes and all that. The one major downfall is that they have no parking. There is street parking available nearby, but it is still a walk and not knowing the area, we would've preferred to have the car up front. The wifi also is really bad all over the place. The jitney bus service is nearby, a few blocks away to get to the casinos for cheap ($2 pp!) as well which is great. Overall, I would definitely return, espcially during warm weather months to enjoy being this close to the beach. read more

I stayed here with my dog on 4/27-4/28/16. What a wonderful place to be!! I was looking for somewhere very close to the beach to stay with my dog. Found this place on BringFido.com. They have 1 room at the Inn that is dog-friendly. And, I have nothing but good things to say about this place!....from the helpful and accommodating staff....to the lovely room... to the great location...to the fabulous price! The room has a kitchenette with a full-size refrigerator, microwave, stove, sink, and cooking utensils. Also has 2 small sitting areas, and the peaceful bedroom. The place was very nicely decorated and "beachy"!! There ended up being a leak in my bathroom, and the mgr came over within moments to assess the situation. He came up with a solution to get us through the evening, until he could fully fix the problem the next day. He was very nice and apologetic. But, really...was no problem to deal with at all. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully plated! The common room is a very relaxing and lovely atmosphere. They even offer free bottles of water and cookies/fruit/coffee/tea throughout the day. My boyfriend and I decided to stay here for our first time in Atlantic City. We stayed in room 10. This little inn is absolutely adorable and feels like home! Check in was ridiculously simple, and the owners are so nice. There were cookies out when we arrived, and around 5pm they put out sangria and hors d'oeuvres in the sitting area. Breakfast the next morning was fantastic; I got the pancakes and my boyfriend had French toast. They also had a little continental breakfast available. Our room had a detached bathroom across the hall, which we didn't mind. They provided robes to wear to and from the bathroom. The room was cozy and fairly small, but not uncomfortable. The entire thing was pink and frilly - really cute, though kind of girly for my boyfriend I guess. The bathroom was bigger than I expected. Everything was very clean and nice. The whole place just has a really charming, welcoming feel. It's right on the beach, which is beautiful. The only downside is that it isn't within walking distance of most of the casinos - especially with the cold weather. Luckily the Jitney bus system comes nearby, and will take you to any casino you want. It's $2 a ride, so totally doable, but I do wish we had been just a bit closer to the main area. We had dinner reservations at a restaurant in Resorts, right next to the Trump Taj Mahal and the Steel Pier. That was over 3 miles away - so definitely not walkable in nice clothes. There was a full kitchen ( and advertised as such) but neglected to say there was no silverware, dishes, or even glasses. There was no internet login information available, and the one staff member I saw seemed friendly, but how can you tell from a 90 second interaction. This is pretty much all you could ask for in a charming, reasonably priced b&b on the shore. The inn and rooms were cozy and clean. The service was friendly. And there was an abundance of little touches included: fresh breakfast of eggs, bacon, and pastries; a late-afternoon refreshment hour with wine, cheese and crudité; and beach towels, chairs and tags. We reserved a room without parking but had no problem finding free street parking within two blocks of the inn. I had a wonderful experience at the Carisbrooke. I was looking for an alternative to the expensive hotel rooms in Atlantic City and am so glad I came across this lovely B & B. John was a lovely host. I truly enjoyed the wonderful, cooked to order breakfast each morning, as well as the fresh baked cookies at any time of day. On my last morning there were some fresh muffins that were delicious. I love that they offer a cocktail hour each evening. I wasn't able to attend during this stay, but the other guests really enjoyed it. Complimentary bottled water was a definite plus. My room, although small, was very comfortable. I would not recommend room #10 for 2 adults unless they were very budget minded, but it was fine for my granddaughter and me. From what I can see, the negative reviews of this place come from people who didn't read the policies on the inn's website. Mostly regarding parking or cancellation. It's unreasonable to expect this inn to behave as a big hotel because they're not. That's part of their charm. A small, hospitable inn. I plan to return with my husband an enjoy one of their lovely superior rooms. Just steps from the boardwalk and the beach, this place really is a hidden gem. read more

We have stayed at the Carisbrooke on several occasions and each time John and Agnes have made us feel like a welcomed guest in someone's luxurious home. The place is spotless and charming. The rooms are well appointed and the beds and bathrooms very comfortable. Located a short distance from an amazing beach with a great boardwalk that is perfect for biking or walking, it is a perfect spot for a summer vacation or a fall/winter getaway. There are several cute restaurants, cafes and ice cream shops within walking distance and a short cab ride to more luxurious restaurants in Atlantic City. Highly recommend! read more

The Carisbrooke Inn is a speck of cozy refinery in the sea of tackiness that is the Atlantic City area. My girlfriends and I took advantage of the Groupon, and being the type who prefer board games with friends over casino gambling and jeans over sweatpants with Corona on the butt-this was the perfect respite for us. There is a lot of construction in the area right now but you are still a 30 second walk to a lovely, isolated section of the beach as well as several restaurants and shops including a liquor store. You are also about twenty minutes on the boardwalk from the main strip so you can head over to the Trump, put a quarter in the slot, sip a cocktail, and then run back to your Country Mouse headquarters and curl up in bed if you so choose. The Carisbrooke itself is gorgeous and that makes it sort of out of place in its neighborhood. Each room has it's own decor and personality but each keeps a beachy elegant feel. We stayed in the Red Room, described as the most romantic room in the house. It was clearly not meant for a group of best friends but a huge bed, cot in the room upon arrival, and decent sized bathroom made it work. I'm sure the room would be more than adequate for a lovely romance if that be your thing. We were able to utilize to a lovely porch perfect for drinking and dining al fresco, although not overlooking the best view. The inn also provides access to a refrigerator, fantastic outdoor shower, courtyard, and plenty of towels and beach chairs. The included breakfast was fantastic-eggs your way and blue berry pancakes were both big hits with us. We also took advantage of the complimentary sangria and snacks at happy hour. There are two majestic dogs who wander around and are very sweet and gentle. For a reasonable price you get pancakes, sangria, dogs, red rooms of pain, air conditioning, a lovely beach and most importantly, a more relaxing experience of Atlantic City. read more

The guy I'm seeing is a teacher and was off for spring break, so I took him on a little trip here. The weather was colder than had been forecast, but we still had an amazing time. We spent some time on the beach near Boardwalk Hall, then checked in at the Inn around 4-ish. We soon found out we were staying in a near-empty inn, since it was off season. There was only 1 other guest besides us. Bonus!!! Parking was tricky, but that issue was solved when the innkeeper very kindly gave us a parking pass, to park in their special lot one street over. We were impressed right off the bat with how lovely the inside was. Our room was small, but that was fine, as I'd gotten a really good deal through Booking.com. I mean, like half price off the room. I was so happy with the price. We actually didn't see much outside of the room for quite a few hours, if you know what I mean :) The bathroom was detached, but it was right across the hall, and private (we had our own key), which was nice. They provided fluffy white bathrobes for us, which was a really nice touch. We finally got hungry and decided to venture out for food. We ate a great meal at the Vagabond, then headed to the casinos to just check out Atlantic City--neither of us had been before. We went to the Borgata. I loaned my guy $30 to gamble with at Blackjack. On his 2nd hand, he got "21" and won $37.50! He gave me my original $30 back, and we used the $7.50 for tolls lol We both know when to stop--when you're ahead :) Then we went back to the Inn and took a walk on the beach. The beach is so close, which is nice. The moon was full, and we had a little romance on the beach, then headed back to the inn. The next morning, there was delicious coffee, coffee cake, orange juice, and fruit..we ordered what we wanted for breakfast, and had eggs, bacon, and toast. We were reluctant to head back to Philly, but we both had things to do. We were sad to leave, but we will definitely be back! read more

Breakfast was awesome, they always have cookies, water and soda available. And cheese, crackers and wine at night between 5 and 6 I think the time was for those. A must try!! read more

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the inn in September 2014. We found it on a Groupon deal, and it was much less expensive then the hotels, so we decided to try it out. We had both never stayed at a bed and breakfast so we didn't know what to expect. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were staying Friday thru Sunday, but weren't able to take off of work Friday. Driving from Long Island to AC, we weren't going to get there until 8 or 9. The manager (possibly the owner, he seemed to be running everything) was able to set us up for self check in, and he gave us great instructions to find our room and where we could park. The immediate area around the B&B was under construction, but didn't hinder anything. The blocks right on the water were nice, but if you walked a couple of blocks in land the area was a little run down. But considering the situation in AC right now with all those casinos closing, it was to be expected in a way. This is no fault of the B&B, they kept the home nice and clean and it was a nice place to stay. We stayed at the second house, not the main house. I forget out room number but I believe it was called the "sandpiper" room. The room was small, but cozy. We really felt like it was staying in someone's guest room, which was nice. They set up all these snacks and drinks for free, which was awesome. My one complaint about the room as that it didn't have a full length mirror, just a small vanity in the bathroom. I told the manager and he said he was going to be putting up a mirror. He offered to get me one, but I told him not to worry about it. But he was very nice to offer. We had breakfast at the main house the next morning and it was delicious, and they had a good selection. The place is right on the beach, which is beautiful. We were able to walk up and down the boardwalk and we had such beautiful weather, too cold for the beach but nice for sightseeing. The jitney got us to and from the casinos, which was awesome, all we had to do was walk a couple of blocks to get the AC/ Ventnor City border. $2 a ride was much better they the $40 cab fare or a $20 parking spot. It was nice that it was away from everything, made us feel like we had 2 separate vacation locations. One thing I didn't care for (and this is just because we are 20 something's going to party in AC), was that we felt we had to be quiet when we were in the house. No one told us to be quiet or anything, but I felt like we were the only loud ones, going in and out of the room to smoke a cig downstairs or go out for a drink, so we tried to be respectful. Which when we had a couple of drinks was a little more difficult ;) But you're looking for an adorable, quiet, and romantic place to stay, I definitely recommend staying here. read more

Friendly place, clean rooms, great location! What a delightful little B&B! The inn is located in a quiet, clean neighborhood away from the AC hotels. It is really close to the beach and there are a lot of mom and pop stores and eating joints in and around within walking distance. Atlantic City hotels are just about 2 mi down the road. We were booked in Room 4 on the second floor, and stayed for two days. We checked in late on Friday night (after 7 pm), and were given instructions on where to find our key and the welcome package (information about the inn/room and Atlantic City). Also, let me put this down on record - it is an amazing feeling to walk in and find a batch of home made cookies waiting, after driving for 5 hrs in the pouring rain (yes, it's left out for guests in the hallway). The room was clean, and comfortably furnished. Other perks included free bottled water, free internet, free beach towels, free umbrellas, and free beach chairs. Yes, I wanted to emphasize the word "free" there. Maybe this is standard B&B practice, but it was our first time staying away from big hotels and it certainly felt more welcoming! Unfortunately, we didn't get to try the morning breakfast since we are late risers. Maybe next time! read more

I bought a living social voucher to this Inn. I arrived and when I walked into the main house where the common space was it felt like I was at a half way house. The gentleman that took us to our room, very nice, but... We left and did not stay. The room was very musty accompanied by very strong cleaning products to hide the smell. Not a good combination. The tiles in the tiny shower were cracked and so old that all the cleaning in the world would not help. The gentleman did offer another room but honestly just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. read more

Enjoyed the inn. Came in July and stayed a weekday. Breakfast was awesome! Staffs were friendly. Dog was mellow and friendly! It was nice that we're very close to beach. The price was fair for what you get. Bathroom was tight though. Smells like old house but nothing out of the norm since it is an older house. Happy hour can be quite engaging especially if you run into interesting guests at the inn. The main complaint would be the parking situation. The inn definitely doesn't have enough parking space for the max amount of guests it can accommodate. It was already full on a weekday, so be prepared to find parking on the streets. read more

My boyfriend surprised me with a night at the Carisbrooke Inn for Valentine's Day. I had never stayed at a bed and breakfast so I didn't know what to expect but let me tell you, any time I have to venture back to AC, I sure as hell am not staying at one of the casino's. This place was right down the road, a 5 minute drive, not even, from all of the casino's. It was quiet (unlike the casino's with loud, drunken, 20-somethings), the bed/pillows were extremely comfortable, and the bathrooms (and the whole place for that matter) were very clean. When we arrived the place smelled amazing due to the fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies they had just put out. Then, at 5, there was a complimentary cocktail hour with sangria and hors d'oeuvres. The next morning, breakfast was amazing. I ordered scrambled eggs with potatos and canadian bacon. As good as a restaurant. I highly reccommend this place. It's quaint and romantic. We've just returned from our 4th stay in 4 months. We love the Carisbrooke Inn. This time we traveled with friends, two of whom have a dog so they stayed in the pet-friendly room across the street. We stayed in Room 2 (with a back deck) and another friend was in Room 4 on the second floor, beside a larger deck with a view of the ocean, beach and boardwalk. The breakfasts are just great (a continental buffet as a first course and then a menu from which to select a cooked entrée). Fruit, cookies and bottled water are always available. There are drinks and snacks at 5 PM. My husband and I get to entertain friends in my childhood hometown without the hassle of maintaining a second home. The wonderful staff sees to everything. The beach and boardwalk are steps away and there is excellent dining around the corner. Can't wait to return! read more

This was our 3rd year here. You walk to the beach without crossing any streets and wind up on a broad, uncrowded beach. The public areas of the Inn and cottage are very nice. They have beach chairs and towels, but bring your own umbrella--no beach rentals. You have use of a common refrigerator with an available microwave. We've stayed in 2 different rooms, both clean and comfortable. 5-6 pm there is a happy hour with wine and light snacks. The breakfast is fantastic with 5 choices. There are restaurants within a couple of blocks letting you walk rather than drive. A few rooms come with off street parking--highly recommended. We have been coming to Carisbrooke Inn for several years bringing together cousins once a year. The b&b is perfect for our group who enjoy hanging out together in the living room to catch up on the last year. There is a selection of queen and king beds with bath and shower. The service is very warm and gracious and the breakfast is perfect. The beach is just a few steps from the inn with beach chairs and towels for our use. The negative for some may be that there isn't parking for everyone. The larger more expensive rooms come with parking. Those of us who didn't have parking found available street parking at no cost. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because there were some things that were in need of repair but did not effect our good time. read more

There is currently a state of emergency in New Jersey and we have not yet been issued a refund for our room we CANNOT stay in or travel to. We were going to a concert that was canceled AND REFUNDED. Some businesses are just plain sketchy. This is one of them. Beware of booking here anytime there might be weather that ruins your stay. They will fight and drive you up a wall any way they can. An hour on the phone to be told I should have predicted a hurricane a week before hand. Unacceptable. Snide and disrespectful. read more

I found this inn on Groupon, so my boyfriend and I came down from NYC for the weekend. We took the NJ Transit 319 to Atlantic City then just walked a few miles down the boardwalk to get here, which was an enjoyable trek as the beach was deserted and beautiful. The Ventnor area seems like it's under development (lots of construction and properties for sale), but the Carisbrook definitely stands out as the nicest, best-kept little place in the neighborhood. There are also a couple little gems nearby - Scout Home Decor and Apparel, homemade candy shops, etc. - but not a ton to chose from, though we are both vegan and still managed to get by just fine. There were not a lot of people around this time of year (mid-May), which was actually refreshing. The whole staff at the Carisbrook was incredibly nice and accommodating. Someone walked us to our room, they had a little happy hour with free sangria and snacks, and in the morning, I felt like I was at a friend's house when the woman working asked if she could whip us up anything in addition to the continental breakfast. We were definitely the only twenty-something's staying there, which might just be typical of the area, but it was so quiet and so close to the ocean - perfect for an anti-NYC experience - so who cares? With the ocean half a block away, we wanted to stay on the beach most of the time anyways. The inn is fairly withdrawn from Atlantic City, and that was good news for us. We stayed in the Daybreak room, with somewhat of an ocean view (it was advertised as ocean-view). Daybreak was actually more like a small efficiency than just a room, with a small kitchen and living room. The room was overall very clean and incredibly cozy, and sort of gave me the feeling that I wish I lived there it was so homey. The room came with fruit and wine, which may have only been part of the Groupon, but was nevertheless exciting. For this area, the Carisbrook definitely seems like the best choice, as it's sort of ahead of the development curve, already being a nice little complete package.
