Easy to pass by while driving down Main, as are most of the shops along that road, but I've got to say that this is one you shouldn't be passing up, especially if you're a collector! Muleskinner has a fair variety of old relics, and cool items to check out. A lot of the pieces that grab your attention are incredibly unique; they definitely have a lot of things I've never seen before! They always have some furniture for sale, such as cabinets, doors, chests, chandeliers, but they also carry things like old bird cages, oil lamps, cups and jars, even old signs. Quite a few old rocking horses as well. If you're looking to spice up your home with a relic from the past, go to Muleskinner! I'll probably never stop praising their "back room" area -- the sale area. A lot of the objects are things like framed photographs, old toys and cameras...really whatever they decided to put back there! What's in that area is at a discounted price, lower than what they would have normally sold something at. I'm such a sucker for a good deal; I bought an old oil lamp from these guys for only $18, and now it sits as a centerpiece for the table in my room. I truly could not be happier with what I've found there. As with every antique store, the objects for sale are always changing; you never really know what you're going to find! To paraphrase what the shop owner told me, "If you see something, and you think you want it, GET IT. Not just here, but everywhere you go. What you want could be gone the next time you decide that you actually want it!"

The sister and brother joint owners are amazing and open to negotiating a price. One visit will never be enough as there are four levels (4th level closed to customers) that you can spend hours seeking a treasure. The process is quite simple: see something you like, take a photo on your 'phone and show to owners and they will quote. Cash provides a better deal than credit which stands to reason. You will need the light on your phone or, better yet, bring a flashlight as lighting is poor. The sister can regale you with local history if you're interested!

There's so much - its impossible to check it all out in one round. We walked each floor at least 3 times and we couldnt stop talking about how much we didn't see. The vibe is creepy - like you're in an alternate universe. Maybe it's because its dark af in there, maybe it's the overwhelming amount of items to check out. Either way it was definately a neat place to wander around for an hour or two. The owners on the otherhand are anything but creepy. They were so welcoming! Personally I thought it was fun watching them try to get ahold of each other. There's no way they could do it without phones - the building is 4 stories at least. Sanborn Old General Store is a rabbit warren of antiques, collectibles, and general household things you might be looking for, even if you didn't know it before you visited. But I was looking for two lamps, one for a book case and a floor model. Found both. Each little section belongs to a different seller, each seller renting a space for their wares. One sales host on site when I stopped in today, Geraldine. She was very helpful. I found lamps that would work for me, each one belonging to a different seller. The prices were reasonable, but I had a limit of what I could spend on the two. Geraldine called the sellers with my offers. First was accepted, second was a compromise. A third item, a plant stand, interested me, but it was new to the store so the dealer declined my offer. I will check back in about two weeks when I'm next out that way. Because of the quantity and variety of items in the store, the place is a collector's dream ... and a museum for all. Even if you don't live near Sanborn (I'm about 25 miles away), I'm sure you will enjoy the experience. There is also a very clean and cozy rest room.

The shop owner (assume he was the owner) was such a nice guy and so helpful. They even delivered to my house within an hour. Highly recommend this shop for unique finds if you like mid-century stuff. I've seen stores that claim to sell real wood, but what they mean is that they sell real wood veneers. But Scott Furniture is the real deal. Scott Furniture offers free delivery. That alone is awesome beyond words. If the items in their showroom don't tickle your fancy, you can flip through their cataloge and order whatever you see. Before you head off into the store, you can browse their website. I find it to be easy to navigate and is kept up to date. The owner is really nice. He lets you know that he's there to help without hovering all over you. Absolutely no pressure. The little touches matter. The decor is hilarious! Spilt acrylic food sits atop beautiful wooden pieces. Freaky life-size dummies rest on plush couches. It's crazy! I love it! The artificial desserts look so delicious. This shop caught our attention, had plenty of room for parking, items outside and inside. Danielle, the owner, was onsite and greeted us warmly. She said her dad buys most of the items and they have new inventory regularly. I signed up for the mailing list - 3 postcards per year of their events - and looked around the 3 parts of the store. There is a main level and two upper levels that are not connected and have separate staircases. There was a good mix of vintage items, household (linens, dishes, tea cups), and furniture. My sister bought a mobilgas can and I bought some knitting needles and a small book (how to knit). Prices were reasonable. Some items did not have prices but she said just ask, no problem! We will definitely stop back when in the area, or for an event!

I like the people that come to this auction because it represents a great cross section of WNY. We are all there trying to find a treasure or need. My attitude is that there is much to be found with knowledge. That applies to any auction. Come to one of Matt's Academy Auction's auction. There's plenty of free parking, and the pizza is excellent.
