Sanborn Old General Store is a rabbit warren of antiques, collectibles, and general household things you might be looking for, even if you didn't know it before you visited. But I was looking for two lamps, one for a book case and a floor model. Found both. Each little section belongs to a different seller, each seller renting a space for their wares. One sales host on site when I stopped in today, Geraldine. She was very helpful. I found lamps that would work for me, each one belonging to a different seller. The prices were reasonable, but I had a limit of what I could spend on the two. Geraldine called the sellers with my offers. First was accepted, second was a compromise. A third item, a plant stand, interested me, but it was new to the store so the dealer declined my offer. I will check back in about two weeks when I'm next out that way. Because of the quantity and variety of items in the store, the place is a collector's dream ... and a museum for all. Even if you don't live near Sanborn (I'm about 25 miles away), I'm sure you will enjoy the experience. There is also a very clean and cozy rest room.

This pretty little shop is (obviously) located on the Roycroft Campus, in a building built in 1904 and designated as a Furniture Shop during the Roycroft era. This antique shop shares space with Norberg's Art & Frame Shop. Though the building looks pretty huge, most of the antiques sit in one average room (they take up less space than you'd think!). There's a good variety of things here. They've got anything from large pieces that would make a great contribution to any antique collection, or refurbished home decor, to my favorite cheap finds, like postcards, political buttons, and picture prints. From what I could tell, everything was fairly priced for being antiques! I was pretty much alone to explore the shop, though I had a brief glimpse of a gentleman who said to let him know if I had any questions - before he totally vanished. (But I'm sure if I needed him, I could have found him in the building somewhere.) I know I'm going to find something awesome here one day. I'm totally going to return when I'm in the area again!

The time…read morecame on a Saturday in late October when I wandered into this magical store off Central in Lancaster. The shop owner was friendly and the store was welcoming. There were many items that caught my eye and I had to wrangle myself in. I purchased a pair of earrings and two pairs of socks. I got some Christmas shopping done. Tons of nostalgia throughout the store. The walls and the flooring are all original to the building. It was built in the late 1800s. The selection of gifts was very large. Homey type gifts, trinkets, women's purses and wallets, and lots of Buffalo themed gifts. The value of the gifts are moderately priced. If you are active duty or a veteran they offer a military discount. My wife and I will be back for sure!
