Carle's Billing Department needs to get their act together! Seniors with Medicare / Medicaid are most certainly treated differently! Persons have been going to this clinic over 10 years now, you book an appointment,then out of the blues " poof" they send you a message saying when you come to your appointment please be ready to pay $600 for not having insurance!Hello?? Maybe the insurance on file decided to just disappear,by an act of magic?? Anyway talked to customer service,nurse and the Billing Department as well! Read some of these reviews, and was appalled. I have several chronic conditions, and in the course of over a decade of visiting many Carle locations, I only felt mistreated once, at the hands of an arrogant specialist at the main facility. I use this location on Windsor for blood tests--whoosh, in and out. Everyone is always courteous, and professional, and they get the job done. I do have to call more than once sometimes for an appointment, but seriously, that disagreeable phenomenon is not a Carle Exclusive. read more

We moved to Urbana about a year ago. We got our daughter set up with their pediatrician. Just bizarre situations where every visit would get double billed. Then Carle would say insurance wouldn't cover, we would have to dispute and they would even send to collections. We have moved around and worked with a lot of providers. Really bad communication. Not really sure why they double bill and then double down saying they did it right and it's the insurance fault because all it takes is a quick call to insurance to see that their billing messed up. Oh well, would highly recommend working BFF with a different group if you don't want to be disputing claims from every visit. read more

Treated my 19 year old daughter horribly. Assumed a diagnoses and sent her home. Stabbed her tongue instead of her throat. She mentioned it and the nurse told her it'd be fine. She is still miserable swollen and with fever. No one will do any testing to tell us what's wrong. Just said if she doesn't feel better in a few days go to ER. What?! Wanted to know why her dad was with her because she's 19. Yes she is and it's none of your business but her seizures prevent her from driving. Shame on you! Don't bother taking your dying dog there! Absolute worse customer service. Called for an appointment...25 minutes on hold....finally gave up. Called next day....20 minutes on hold..gave up. Called two hours later.....25 minutes on hold..gave up. Called again at 1:00 pm in afternoon.....30 minutes on hold.....( thank GOD for speaker phone)...gave up. I have been beyond impressed with the care my son has received with his pediatrician, Dr. Tripathy, and the staff there. They have been incredibly responsive with questions over the phone and have answered all my questions during appointments with kindness, respect, and genuine concern. They have handled billing questions quickly and been great in that regard. Additionally, I've never had to wait for more than 2 minutes for an appointment. I've also been to their walk-in (convenient care?) care and they were very prompt and helpful. read more

What a racket! Facility Charges. Unethical. I went to have a physical and have a state employee health plan under Aetna and was charged $500 for a simple physical (with no bloodwork or testing). Unethical. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Awful. Any time you step into any of their doctors offices, no matter if it's a 30 minute appt. with a dermatologist or just a routine check-up, you get charged a $270 FACILITY FEE (Not covered by the Best Insurance Companies). I grew up going to carle hospital for my healthcare needs and I always felt at ease with the care I would receive. Now, I have children of my own it is a stress relief knowing the pediatrician I went to as a kid is still there and still remembers me (shout out to dr. Hauffe. He is an amazing pediatrician who is a child whisperer. He comforts any kid who is downright scared of doctors.) I am disheartened to see this hospital has so many negative reviews. I never dealt with hidden charges (but I have with Christie clinic) and I trust the doctors here completely and never ever have been let down by them. I think this surpasses any small town city clinic with the proper technology and excellent staff. Update: Dr. Hauffe was unavailable to see my son. I was disheartened and nervous because I wanted a familiar face treating my son. We were assigned Dr. McGinn and he was fantastic. He had the best bed-side manner with me and my son and gave him the best care he could. I'm starting to think you can't go wrong with any pediatrician in this hospital. read more

Never a good experience. Had not been here in a few years because the last time (after waiting 45 minutes to be seen) the doctor was hurried and dismissive. She also told me a healthy way to gain weight is to eat more meat. Does that mean a healthy way to lose weight is to do meth? Today, I finally decided attempted to make a new appointment (of course with a different doctor). Made three attempts: 1. The doctor I need won't accept new patients. Yet there are no other specialists. 2. Called general Carle #. Got hung up on because staff members don't know how to transfer calls. 3. Called back. New person. Spent 14 minutes on hold waiting to be transferred to make an appointment. Hung up out of frustration. Shouldn't have to waste so much life just to make an appointment, where I will wait even longer, only to be dismissed because central IL doctors don't know how to deal with unique situations. read more

As far as drug stores go, the Carle RxExpress here is pretty bare-bones, but they do have the essentials, and I don't think it's anything less than what you'd expect from a clinic's in-house pharmacy. I haven't had any issues at all with the pharmacy itself, and the folks there work hard to get you what you need if they don't have a particular medication in stock. Plus, they have a drive-thru, which is nice. Just be sure you get there before they close at 6:00! In the end, going here for my pharmacy needs was a no-brainer (albeit a completely subjective no-brainer) since it's in the same building as my doctor and it's right down the street from my house. Oh, and here's a good bonus: if you choose to wait for your prescription, there's a little cafe and some comfy chairs right out in the hallway. Beat that, Walgreens! As for the rest of the clinic, the building is nice and new and has a friendly open layout. There are computer check-in systems, comfortable waiting areas, free wi-fi, and everyone has seemed pretty friendly. I haven't tried the above-mentioned cafe yet...but, you know, having it there is kind of a nice touch. read more

Went to convenient care for an ear infection. What do you know the doc says I have an ear infection and prescribed me antibiotics. Get the bill it's over 300 dollars. Last time I willingly go to Carle or encourage anyone to. There are more convenient places to go that can solve an issue for a lower price. read more

Not at all happy with the care from there team. You pretty much have to Doctor yourself and once you do .....go there pay your co-pay and you are seen ...... but well.....instead of helping your told as usual it's a virus and oh let me see 10-14 days you should start feeling better. Lets not forget you can get these over the counter drugs that should help your symptoms. They may help some maybe not.....I went there 5 separate times finally told them I would like to have some blood work done just to see if I just might have an infection....after some conversation finally agreed to my request low and behold after telling this team player that I do have insurance and I can go anywhere to get proper care they did the test. Didn't faze them to say I did have an infection and finally gave me a prescription. Maybe elsewhere I will get the service that I and my insurance company are paying for. Just saying....not a bad place but be careful your paying for a service might want to make sure you get it! read more

I had a terrible experience with Dr. Grace Park here - she was the most dismissive and rudest doctor I've ever been to. I told her that I have a history of sinus infections that are normally treated by my doctors with antibiotics. She then proceeded to accuse all my past doctors of malpractice and claimed that I was immune to antibiotics because of them. She then proceeded to ask me what was wrong and I told her my throat hurt, I was congested and I had pressure on my sinuses as well as terrible headaches. She didn't even look at my throat and quickly told me that I had a "viral infection" and it would "go away in a few days" and refused to give me an antibiotic. I was sick for weeks afterwards and ended up needing an antibiotic - I went to a different doctor though at a different practice that actually listened to me and wasn't rude! I will never go back here again, the nurses were also very rude and I had a terrible experience overall. read more

Yesterday I was at the clinic for an appointment and the appointment had been screwed up and cancelled. In major pain, I had a meltdown. The unfortunate registering person took the brunt of my anger and frustration. Today I called wanting to apologize directly to that person. The call-in center controls ALL. She wanted to open my medical record. No, you don't need to open my medical record to let me apologize. But she would put it out there (don't know what that means). And no one by that name worked at Windsor. I called a second time and got a person with feelings. Didn't need to open my medical record, recognized the name I gave her, and said she would transfer my call directly to that person. And she did and I was able to apologize. Beware the dreaded CALL CENTER. They can be impossible--not my first experience with those people. read more

No problem with Carle itself, but had a terrible experience with Mr. Danny McFarlin. While knowledgeable, he came off as quite arrogant and made rude sexist comments. I left the appointment shocked at his unprofessional behavior and sincerely disappointed at having a medical professional belittle me when I came to him for help. My appointment was quite some time ago but I will certainly not forget it anytime soon, and I won't accept an appointment with him again. I sincerely hope this was an isolated incidence of poor judgement and not indicative of his everyday demeanor in the office, but I felt I needed to share my experience. read more

I have been a patient of Carle for many years, and even worked in the ER for 3 1/2 years. I have almost always been pleased with the level of service I have received. When issues have arisen, they are dealt with quickly and professionally. Hey, we are all human, and healthcare is a tricky field - the human body is a complex structure and any doctor can only do so much. Recently I have heard co-workers who doctor elsewhere in the community talk of their experiences and I must say, after hearing their concerns and stories about their treatment, I am SO happy I am a patient at Carle. I usually go to Christie convenient care but decided to try Carle instead. The physician was nice and after my 10 min visit I was told to continue what I was doing and was sent on my way. After a few weeks went by I called to ask where the bill was and was told it had been sent twice already. I had not received it and so I went ahead and paid the $99 over the phone. So imagine my surprise when I received another bill for $205 a couple weeks later. After calling I found out the physician charges $99 and Carle another $205. I was only told a visit costs $100 when I called. I guess I will continue to go right across the street where they would have only charged me $100 total for the exact same thing. read more
