I knew that. Aaron sold his business, and I thought I'd give them a try. Until today.... I came home to my beautiful, and very expensive, roses completely hacked. They were my favorite part of the yard, growing through the white picket fence with the most beautiful blooms. Not anymore. I watched our security cameras and the way they just completely did a hack job on them. My favorite part of my home is now ruined. Don't hire them for anything other than mowing a yard.

We additionally had some leaky valves I decided to see if he was able to replace - He replaced them that afternoon with higher quality valves. We did have 1 issue several days later with 1 of the new valves leaking. We never pressure tested them the day they were replaced due to the fresh glued joints. So this was first time stressing them. I reported the leak and he arrived the next day and addressed the issue (it was a faulty valve). All fixed and working perfectly. Aaron is awesome & very knowledgeable. They provide an excellent Warranty. And their pricing is very reasonable & competitive. I highly recommend this place for your Irrigation & Landscaping needs.

However, when I later hired him for a more complex job -- removing dirt and pouring concrete -- the experience was a nightmare. Juan no longer does the work himself; instead, he sends a rotating crew of unskilled workers, some of whom admitted they were only there to smooth concrete because he doesn't know how to do it himself. The concrete slab started to crack and flake within a week, and the damage has only worsened over the past 3 months. He stopped responding to my calls and messages after I raised concerns. He took my money and ran. I will pursue him in court and hold him accountable for the damages he caused and subpar work. Worse, Juan misrepresented himself as a licensed contractor. In California, it is illegal for anyone without a license to take on jobs over $1000. He is neither licensed nor insured -- a serious liability for homeowners. He does not have any knowledge of landscaping beyond simple gardening. Without permission, he and his crew cut off approximately 50 feet of siding from my home, exposing the wood framing -- a serious structural risk. When I confronted him, he downplayed the damage and offered to nail metal flashing directly onto the outside, over the cut area and concrete. I gave him a chance to fix it properly (with guidance from a licensed contractor I consulted), but the repair was shoddy, he cut off more siding and the new siding they installed warped soon after in multiple places. Now, no reputable siding contractor wants to fix the mess: 1. There's no 6-inch clearance from the bottom of the siding to the concrete (a building code violation). 2. The framing is too close to the poured slab. 3. Nobody wants to warranty work following such poor preparation. He also made a mess of my backyard, pouring concrete carelessly onto my fence and decorative border, despite having a large unused area nearby. When I withheld a small portion of the payment due to the damage and unfinished work, he became confrontational and demanded full payment without accepting responsibility. Bottom line: * Juan Rodriguez is not licensed or insured. * He lacks the skill and knowledge for anything beyond basic yardwork. * He caused structural damage to my home and refused to fix it responsibly. * He avoids accountability and doesn't return calls when problems arise. Avoid this contractor if you value your property and peace of mind.

These labor must be crazy. the material honestly does not cost that much at all. i think he wants $50/hr for labor since his crew of 2 who works 12 hrs a day. 7 day project due for completion would cost $4200 in labor alone. this would be the only conclusion i have for the quote of 6k the reason i started to check on price was because he notified me this morning in regards to adding chicken wire for my lawn to protect for gophers. it sounded like a good idea, so i asked how much. he said it was 500 bucks. i went online, did some research, found out that 3ftx25ft chicken wire @ homedepot only cost 15.99. i only need like 5 sets which would equal to 80. even if i askd them to do 2 layers of that wire for better protection, it should be only 160. labor dos not cost anywhere near 400 bucks to do this job since all he needs to do is lay the wire while the soil is all flipped because he's doing the sprinklers. i'll talk to him tomorrow to see what's his point of view and how he would explain his quote. he told me that those chicken wire cost him 450 to purchase. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Awesome price quote. the guy was nice. it was a little difficult to communicate but we got everything clear after 2 hrs of discussion. i will update this review when the complete job is done. hopefully yelpers are correct about his job! project starts tomorrow and probably ends in 2 weeks 5stars

He told us his father is Japanese and his mother is Vietnamese. His English is very, very basic, but he understands what we want for our yards. We recently hired him to install/repair the sprinkler system for the front and back yard with a new timer in the garage, minor clean up in the front yard, river rocks in the front yard, new sod for the backyard (approximately 1000 sq.ft. of new lawn), and a MAJOR clean up in the backyard. He first quoted me close to $10k for the whole project. I waited and received 3 other estimates for the project. I called him back and told him what the other landscapers quoted me, which is around $7k. He dropped his price to the high end of the $7k. We wanted him to work on our yards, because he has his own stable crew. He works on-site along his crew members. He provided a huge photo album of all the houses he worked on in the past few years. His specialties are koi pond, waterfalls, concrete and wood works. We are not talking about the store-bought fountains or ponds either. He built them from scratch. His photos showed the step by step process of how he set up a waterfall/pond in one of his customer's backyard. Trust me when I say I distrust contractors like I distrust Bush's administration. I have had a horrible experience with a fraudulent contractor, so I was very skeptical of his promises to begin with. He took the $1k deposit and started the job the next day. He worked on my yards for 7 days and about 6 hours each day. He did not ask me to pay him in the middle of the work. He did go out of his way to make my yards look great. He welded a new faucet in the backyard, because the old one is too old. He replaced an old lumber in the walkway. He made sure everything is neat and tidy. He dug the holes for my new plants. He put drip irrigation in some area. The job was finished on 10/05. I noticed there was a small puddle of water next to the new valves on 10/07. I called him immediately and he came out today to look at the puddle. He promptly dug out the puddle and fixed the problem. I am giving Kozuki Landscaping 4 stars instead of 5 stars, because of the initial over-priced quote he gave us. For the final payment, he asked me if I can pay him in cash, all $6700 of it. I refused his request and he was very amiable about it. I would recommend his service for small or big projects. You can drop my name when he is giving you an estimate and ask him for a discount.

After we decided to move forward with Kozuki, we felt the concrete layout way great along with the design aspects. He bought in large boulders to our surprise at no charge for added rugged look. He also build a gazebo that we requested and installed the sprinkler system. I decided to paint the gazebo on my own to save some money. I think the pricing is average to high, however the quality of work is excellent. I guess the saying is you pay for what you get.
