Our goal was to get rid of all the grass in order to have more entertaining space and to stop all of the mud we were getting every winter. I contacted 20 landscapers on Yelp, heard back and received quotes from 8 of them. Miguel was the lowest quote and the most professionally presented quote. He was prompt in responding to my request, he showed up on time, and then took measurements and went back to his truck. Fifteen minutes later he knocks on the door to let me know my quote was ready to review. No other company gave me a quote during the appointment, let alone the same day. He estimated the timeline for work, which was half the time of all other estimates (and he stuck to it) - and in the end, his quote was the exact price we paid when all was said and done. We continued to add things throughout the project and Miguel was happy to provide me reasonable costs for the additions and complete the work in a timely manner. His team works HARD. Every single day. Morning to sundown. Saturday, Sunday. Doesn't matter. Treat them well as they deserve it. If you're comfortable speaking Spanish, or using a translator, they will be happy to hear specifics if you have something you want done differently etc. They work incredibly clean. The job site was always cleaned before they left for the day and they are respectful to try and put things out of the way for you while they're gone. They do quality work. We saw his crew actually across the street from us at a neighbor's yard doing work and the neighbor recommended them for the hard work, showing up on time with a large crew, quick and clean work and affordability. Miguel and his team are fantastic! I initially requested a quote through Yelp and he responded timely and came just a few days later to check out what we wanted him to work on. He was extremely professional and friendly and after taking a look at our yard, he was able to give us a quote in a few days. His price was EXTREMELY competitive in comparison to other pricing we received. We ended up doing our backyard and side of the house for clean up. We hadn't gotten our yard done for probably close to two years, and when we did it was a rough cut that they did, so our yard was quite a jungle. The concrete area of our backyard and side of the house had weeds coming in through the cracks and they were quiet thick. He came in when we set an appointment right on time at 11a and him and about 5-6 people came with their equipment. They were in and out pretty quick for the size and job of our yard, ending around 4:30p. My boyfriend went out to give him payment and he was so wow'd by the yard he didn't want to send me pictures (I was at work) and said I need to see it in person. And yes I was wow'd when I came home. They tidied up the side of our driveway and side of our house. The weeds in the cracks were now completely cleaned out. Our backyard was crazy cleaned up! We worked with Miguel and his crew on two projects. First project: We were tired of maintaining the grass in our front yard and asked Miguel to completely remove it and come up with a drought tolerant plan. They were able to start work immediately and even finished the project a little early. Miguel and his crew were professional and our yard looks great! Second project: Our backyard was a mess. We have three kids, two that are special needs, and they spend most of their free time in the back yard. We initially came up with a plan, hand drawing a picture of what we wanted, had Miguel come out to take a look and get a quote. The quote came in higher than we liked so we adjusted our expectations, downsizing and adjusting some of the materials. I loved Miguel's flexibility in this way. In general, he has excellent communication and a great demeanor. To note, we had another popular landscaper with high marks on Yelp come out for the quote, too. He didn't listen to us and his quote came in three times as high as Miguel's quote. We don't want an Italian Villa that takes over a month to install or is so expensive we'd have to do piecemeal over several years. We want a functional backyard the entire family can use. Needless to say, we hired Miguel and his crew to do the work. We basically made our yard into a family park. They did our entire yard in five days, adding a ton of nice little touches and providing excellent quality to every item. They tore out all grass, removed a huge amount of small rocks and old mulch, removed a tree, removed dead and unwanted bushes and plants, laid down pavers, created new mulch areas, created a playground area, installed decomposed granite, and installed drought tolerant plants and large boulders. After they left, we had the playground equipment up in a week. They removed our front lawn, many overgrown bushes, 60 year old ivy that had taken over, and cement walkway. My front yard desperately needed updating. Being stuck at home during pandemic meant I could meet with landscaping contractors without having to rush home from the office. And so beginning in Q4 2020, I started to call landscaping contractors with 5 star reviews. My plan did not go well until I met Miguel of East Bay Landscaping Services (EBLS). I have had contractors who show up and mock my ugly front yard to ones who would only provide a quote if you pay them $50 (stay away from those) and those who show up and then promises an estimate but ultimately disappears. Luckily after kissing 12 frogs, I found Prince Charming in Miguel. Miguel was the only one who was flexible in working with my budget. I went back and forth via email with Miguel on the details of his proposal over weeks. I made changes so many times that I am certain other contractors would have just ghosted me. Not Miguel. He was patient and revised my quote multiple times without complaint. When we finally agreed on a date for the work, I was anxious and wondered if I had made the right choice in selecting EBLS. Miguel and his team of 5 came on the day as scheduled. They took 2 days to relandscape a 700 square feet front yard. Everything was done with a keen eye toward details. EBLS planted all the trees and shrubs I bought and installed a new drip irrigation system. They even repaired the drip irrigation in my backyard! And if that was not enough, the EBLS team hosed down my front driveway after they packed up their truck. Talk about professionalism and customer service!
