He spends time to review your whole life situation and medical issues. We never feel rushed through and the staff has been great with the meds and pharmacy connection. Dr McCoy at the Gulfport office is such an asset to this community. Labrador primary Care has been the best primary care doctors I have experienced to this day. When you walk in the door you're greeted by your name and a smile. Even sitting in the office waiting to be seen every person that comes through that door is greeted by their name. Dr McCoy staff is so awesome. Jay is such a caring special nurse. He always smiles and is very thorough with you before you see the doctor. Dr McCoy is so knowledgeable and possesses and aura that you experienced minute she comes in the room. She never rushes through seeing you until she is satisfied that she has gone over everything with you and that you understand and are satisfied. She's been awesome with me and my medical problems. Dr Lydia runs therapy department and she is such an outstanding therapist. She was worked on my shoulder hips and knee and I have come out of it with great results. I've had the pleasure of experiencing the most dedicated primary Care doctors with Labrador primary Care. Thank you Dr McCoy for all you do and having such a great staff. read more

I have been going here for several years and in all I have been happy. Recently they opened a new office and I have experienced just the opposite. Several of my prescriptions could not be filled and I contacted my Doctor (McCoy). A male operative (Gary) called me back telling me that I needed to to schedule an appointment. He told me to come in on the 18th.......I thought we were done. A couple of days ago I get a call from the "Office manager" informing me that I owe them for a missed appointment......The conversation was unpleasant. I told them I was there a month ago for Blood pressure and then I talked to the male operative (Gary).....She then wanted to argue about the name of the male......I went in this morning to discuss this with the staff near Tyrone where I was informed that I can't switch Doctors and I must pay the fee for the missed appointment......they told me the appointment was made a year ago (?)......I still need the prescriptions so I am going to find another GP doctor.....one where the staff doesn't inform me that their "rules" forbid me to pick my own Doctor......I wonder if they forgot who the customer is....... read more

Went for my first time to the 9th avenue office what a great group of people. Jess at the front desk so bubbly and sweet same with the woman who drew my blood and the doctor and the doctor's assistant was also super nice. First experience was excellent! read more

Dr. Labrador himself is okay. As other reviews have mentioned though, you don't see him personally until you've been there for several visits - They're not at all clear about this when you call to schedule but his PA Roseanna is quite nice. He was my PCP in 2015 for a whole year. (Saw his PA most of the time, him only twice, NOT by my choice.) Anyway. My insurance changed with the marketplace in 2016 so I had to move on. Once my insurance changed back, I started trying to re establish myself as his patient. I have literally been trying to schedule an appointment since late January! His staff is inept, they won't return phone calls, different people give different answers on different days. After months of trying back week after week, being told that there was no record of my prior calls, or another of several nonsensical excuses... I was FINALLY told today that his "Office Manager didn't approve the re establishment of my chart because their insurance panels are closed" (even though I was told the exact opposite last Monday by his receptionist, & his status on my insurance website says he's accepting all/new patients!) I finally realize that they've been just giving me the run-around, hoping I'd go away. Idk if this is discrimination toward me personally, or toward my specific insurance plan; either way it's just ridiculous. Either he doesn't know what his staff is doing, or he KNOWS & lets it happen anyway. Which is worse, IMO. In the end, it's a blessing in disguise, cause this is NOT the kind of environment I'd trust with my health or the health of my family. Unprofessional and ridiculous. read more

I was a patient in good standing for 3+ years. The office stopped taking my insurance, I wanted to stay with my physician so I said I would pay out of pocket. I was told no because they are so under staffed! How did they open one new office and broke ground on a third? They also advertise all over town and have a transportation vehicle now that is wrapped in their logo. Even that afternoon the office manager called to confirm it was a staffing issue. They advertise that patients come first and patients are their top priority by my experience is the opposite. I have an upcoming surgery and now the doctor that referred me will no longer be following up with me. read more

This place is a big scam and a dangerous place to go if you have medical issues! I was sick and my wife called the office to to go see the doctor. His staff who answered the phone said I need an appointment, even if it is acute - no exception!! I got an appointment for a week later. During my visit I confronted the doc about this, he then confronted me about my online review of his office. He never apologized about his staff's misleading info and asked if I didn't feel my current visit to his office is him accommodating me? Remember, this was an appointment I made a week prior. He reviewed some bloodwork and told me that if I want to I can stop taking my medicine I was on.... Since then, I got second and third medical opinions, reviewed old lab work and all agreed that based on symptoms it could be low Iron/Hemoglobin. I then did another blood test, and it turns out that my hemoglobin levels are at dangerously low levels (7.2), something Dr. Labrador completely failed to check or even consider to check. The one thing his office did for the last week was harass me via email, text and phone to take my online review down. No apologies, non doctors evaluating you who have very poor knowledge of medical symptoms, no follow up call! This is algorithm medicine - very dangerous! read more

This Dr. runs a meat clinic. They charge you to be seen by kids that are wet behind the ear and don' t hear what you saying. Don't get me wrong they let you talk but they don't pay attention to your words. To pay a co pay to be handed your lab results is robbery. Plus no one cares about my stress level which is one of the reasons for poor health. So if you need a good Dr . I would rethink this one. read more

My Dr. was Dr. McCoy, who is an excellent family physician. We would love to keep seeing Dr. McCoy, but unfortunately Dr. Labrador's office staff got in our way. We needed help from the insurance dept to resolve a misunderstanding with our insurance. My wife is actually covered by 2x policies (one through each of our employers). Dr. Labrador's office only take one of those policies. We needed their help to resolve a misunderstanding and coordinate benefits. After being treated rudely we were forced to eat $400 worth of covered medical costs, and the Office Manager (Dr. L's wife) actually deactivated us as patients; unbeknownst to either us or Dr. McCoy. I only found out about it when I called to change an appt time. I actually had to fight with Mrs. Labrador over the phone to get her to have Dr. McCoy give me a call to discuss the matter. I would love to continue to see Dr. McCoy, but just can't do it as long as Mrs. Labrador is running that office. I can't afford (time or $) to handle my own insurance billing. And the added stress of dealing with it is counterproductive to the purpose I was there in the first place....:-( read more

I did not have a good experience with this doctor. I am a healthy female in my twenties and just wanted my yearly physical, which *should* be completely covered by my insurance. At first, everything seemed adequate and I liked how they can do the lab work right there which is very convenient. The PA spent more time with me, and I only saw the doctor briefly. They informed me that their policy is to schedule a follow-up to receive the blood work results. I would've preferred to just get them via mail or electronically; however, they did not offer that option. This follow-up was a five minute appointment: they told me my blood work was perfect and then I was on my way. I ended up getting a bill from their office, as they coded this as an entirely new visit. They also incorrectly coded the initial appointment, so I received bills for the blood work which should've been covered. I called numerous times and left messages for the office manager, who happens to be the doctor's wife, and she never got back to me. Since the follow-up was only to receive blood work results, I did not think it was fair to bill me for an entirely new office appointment that I didn't even want in the first place. In my mind, this was all part of the physical. Ultimately they did waive the bill, and I also had to get them to re-code the initial visit. They ended up sending me not-the-nicest letter saying they were "unwilling" to be my doctor in the future. I thought that was unnecessary - obviously I was dissatisfied and would not be coming back. I felt like they were just trying to make as much money as possible, instead of actually caring about the patient. If you're looking for a PCP, go to Dr. Craig Levoy in DTSP instead. read more

I was recommended to see Dr. Labrador because I had heard he was a really good doctor. I made an appointment to see him just to get a general checkup. When I got there I was told I wasn't going to see him on the first visit but was seeing his PA instead. I thought that this wasn't a good way to represent his business but since it is his business he can operate anyway he sees fit. His staff seemed to be 'okay' - just friendly enough to do their job. Nothing more. During my visit they recommended that I get an EKG. The aide administered the test and asked me if I had had a heart attack. I said 'No'. I then became worried. The PA comes in and tells me that I have had a heart attack. She said I needed additional tests. My next appointment was scheduled 3 weeks out. Now if I had had a heart attack you would think that Dr. Labrador would have stopped by to see me on my first visit and ask me additional questions. He didn't. You would have thought maybe he would have called me within those 3 weeks and said something to the effect of, "I've got you scheduled for another EKG or a stress test and that you need to go to Dr So and So". I never heard one word from him about my 'heart attack'. The level of care at his office is non-existent. It seemed like he didn't care about me at all except to collect the $400 for this office visit. Also - don't waste your time transferring records from his office to your new doctor's office. He writes the new doctor notes that the 'new' doctor won't tell me what he has written. read more
