I ordered a wooden fence installation from them. Michael took a deposit and said that the installation would start in 3 weeks. I haven't seen or heard from him since then. After 2 weeks, I texted him asking where the photos of the fence that he promised to send. Two days later, I reminded him again, and only then did he finally answer. Michael said that the panels had been ordered a long time ago and I just needed to be delivered. 3 weeks for delivery?? At the Home Depot, delivery is the next day! Was it some kind of scam for their own benefit? After 5 (!) weeks, the workers finally arrived. The guys who installed the fence did a wonderful job, so I'd give it a 3 stars overall. I never saw or heard from Mike again. Totally unacceptable management. I was left with a very unpleasant aftertaste from dealing with this company. read more

just had fence enclosure installed around a raised porch, giving me an enclosed lockable storage area under the porch and a railing around the porch above. work was completed in one day! that included drilling holes in cement and putting in about twelve posts. the lines were dead on perfect. the gates close automatically and latch smoothly. the attention to details was excellent. clean up was fast and thorough too. 15 years ago I had a vinyl fence installed by a different company, recently I need some repairs done on the fence. The original company would not come down to look at the repairs need. I had to send pictures and explanations of the work needed. IT took 2 months and a number of phone calls to get a response. And it was a vague response. So I went to Carls fence in Bethpage, on Hicksville road. I went in and explained to Rob what I needed done, showed him the pictures. He came that evening looked at everything, Explained the repairs to me and gave me a very fair price. He was very nice. In one and a half weeks the work was done by one of his crews. The crew was great, did a great job. I am very happy. Carls fence treated me like they did the original installation themselves. The original company was not very nice or cooperative. This company does shoddy work and their Sales Guy Mike does whatever he can to milk every job , used them years ago , they showed up with the wrong size fence and had to come back. When we needed them to repair their fallen fences Mike showed up acted like he was being faulted for his shoddy overpriced work ,he was , never presented a repair estimate and good riddance to these louts put up with their lousy work too long ! From the start with salesman Bob K. to final installation these guys know all there is to know about fences. They assisted with the village permit (so annoying) sending all the paperwork to expedite that process. The installation team of Ernesto & Co. arrived ready for action. They knew their stuff and worked quickly and efficiently. They took what was supposed to be a two day job and finished it in one. And installed a gate in the back as well. The results speak volumes! They took the old fence away and left the place cleaner than when they arrived. My only tip is that they don't install in the rain so Mother Nature may have a say in your plans, we were rained out twice. read more

I spoke to Paul regarding installing a barrier arm system and a keyless entry system at the cooperative I live at. After he asked me a dozen questions and still didn't seem to be able to visualize what I wanted I suggested I send him photographs of the property. Seeing the photographs would be a valuable source of information to him. However, he told me he would "pass on the job" and abruptly hung up on me. I later called back to ask if Paul was the boss and I asked to speak to the boss to see if passing up a 20,000 job is how Carl's Fence does business. I also wanted to know if this is the way they treat their customers. I am waiting for a call back. read more

When I called this company the manager Robert came to my hose on the same day and gave me a reasonable estimate on the new 6ft x 40ft fence installation. The 2 installers arrived at the promised time and started to do the work immediately. They installed 40ft of vinyl fence, the posts were installed in concrete in less then 2Hrs. The fence was perfectly leveled and looks great! They left the worksite very clean & leveled the dirt. I was extremely impressed with this crew. I wouldn't recommend Carl's to anyone. They were more economical than other companies but it shows in their work. We've got damaged pieces of fence; broken, water damaged and sprayed with something. It was like pulling teeth to get them to come back and fix our gate that we didn't even bring up the broken slats as well. It was more of a headache going with this company that it would've been to take the time and do it ourselves. read more

They didn't want my business. Everyone knows that you need to shop around and get a few estimates before you go spending 10 thousand dollars on something. I called and asked if they do free estimates and was told "it depends". I then was told that "I didn't need to get estimates I should go on the internet and Angies list and get recommendations and then call him when I am ready". So I am sure he does great work and great prices but unfortunately he didn't care. He mentioned it would take at least 3 weeks before he came out for an estimate on a Saturday. I have called 2 other LARGE fence companies and they were able to take out an hour of their time for an estimate. So do not call them unless you are going with them. read more

I researched many fence companies on Long Island after we had another well known fence company install a small fence (which was such low quality, we have since ripped that original fence out). Every one of the Carl's fences I have seen (they proudly display their name & rightfully so!) have been of the utmost quality in materials and workmanship. Even Costco in Westbury used them! We had Carl's replace the other "poor quality fence" from the rip off company and install new fences. We are so happy with them, we will be replacing a old wooden fence next year! Unbelievable abusive behavior from Carl's Fence. What happened to this company? First they went a month past the appointment date, then they left the job with sharp metal sticking out the ground near a pool and an illegal latch. It took months of reminding them to fix it. I used them instead of their competitor because they claimed to be experts in poolside installation regulations. They refused to change the latch until I got them proof in writing from New York State regulatory authorities. Then they refused to acknowledge that they were supposed to make a legal installation because "the contract doesn't say that." Why would a contract have to say that the installation has to be a legal one? I compromised and took their offer to pay them the wholesale price difference between the latch they gave me and the replacement. Now a few weeks later the gate doesn't close they won't honor the one year warranty because, without any explanation, they suddenly want me to pay them more. read more
