In the meantime, the counter lady kept busy delivering cups, food and condiments to people who were waiting. There was 1 woman ahead of me in line. We waited for 20 minutes (along with the line of people behind me) for them to take our orders. When approval came from the back, the counter lady took orders from the woman ahead of me and me. My friend, standing next to me, wearing a shirt that matched mine, was told that they were delaying order taking again. Since it was obvious that we were together, don't you think she would have tried to keep our orders together?? I wished I had included his selections on my order because it was a half hour before she came back and took orders again. Maybe they should have had chairs at the counter if they want you to spend your time there. The counter lady kept busy, filling my prickly pear raspberry drinks and leaving them on the counter so I could eventually come looking for them. She also brought us our food and condiments. The food was good but the floor was dirty & littered. Tables hadn't been cleaned. Was the counter girl supposed to do this, too? If so, they should have provided her with roller skates. It came out within 5-7 minutes and it was incredible!!! The shell was perfectly cooked. The taco meat was nice and seasoned and all the veggies seemed fresh. It came with sour cream and salsa. Ordering at the counter is quick and easy. Depending on how busy they are, I usually wait about 10-15 minutes for my order to be ready. The longest I've waited in line before ordering was maybe five minutes, so definitely not bad at all. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, even if occasionally a little distracted by the action in the kitchen (understandable -- it smells amazing back there). I always check my order before leaving, and it's been correct every time. My go-to item starting out was the Sheri's Super Spud -- I always get the two-meat version with brisket and beef sausage. And wow... that potato is huge. Easily feeds two or three people. The brisket usually has a perfect bark and seasoning, though occasionally it leans a bit salty for my taste. But more often than not, it's just right. The sausage is excellent -- a coarse grind with a nice snap from the casing, just the way I like it. I've also tried the Pork Ribs, and they've earned a permanent spot on my order list. Tender, moist, and packed with flavor, with just the right bite off the bone. One little thing I appreciate: they give a generous amount of BBQ sauce with to-go orders -- not the stingy portions some other places give. If you're in or near Lancaster and looking for great BBQ, definitely give HUG a shot. Friendly service, big portions, and solid flavor all around!
