Okay. First things first. How lazy have drive thrus become where there's a sign that tells you to order like you normally would with an ACTUAL human being?! So essentially I'm starting by talking to a AI voice or something. I refused to so i asked for a real person to take my order. Here is my two cents on the quality quantity and price of Carl's Jr... it was delivered in a very timely manner by GrubHub. I do not recall the last time I even ordered from Carl's Jr. ... so this is probably the first time in at least 30 years.. I did an order of onion rings extra crispy and a single famous star with extra onions, pickles, and mayo.. The only thing I can compare it with is Jack-in-the-Box, which I had two days earlier .. and I must say this was not as good. I could tell the onion rings and the hamburger has been sitting under house lights... they were not very hot and the onion ring were not that crispy or warm... As far as taste, I did like the unique flavor of it being charred broil..... I do believe if they had been freshly made and not sitting underneath the hot lamps, I would have given them five stars. I end up here about once per year because I forget how bad it was the last time... This time, though, I had to write a review. Regarding the food, it's not bad but seems to be suffering from shrinkflation. The service, however... I pulled up to the drive-through window, and I swear the lady was speaking to me in Spanish. I gave it a sec to see if my brain was messing with me and said, "I'm sorry. I don't speak Spanish." If looks could kill... She said, "What did you order?!" I told her, she took my card, and I thought she was going to throw it at me. In retrospect, maybe it was my fault and she really was speaking English. Picked up a late dinner here on a Monday cuz I told my bf that the dollar he won at bingo night would only buy him one chicken star (which he had never tried before). And I was right, a nine-piece was about $9 after tax. Not a big winner winner, but still got a chicken dinner... santa fe chicken tender wrap and chicken stars to be exact. Also got some jalapeno poppers bites and fried zucchini as well. Drive thru took about 5-6 minutes, with no one in front of us (which is actually much longer than other fast food joints). But we appreciated getting hot freshly made food, which tasted consistent with the quality I've always received at Carl's Jr. (various locations). They didn't give us any of the sauces we requested, no ranch, no bbq, nothing, which was a bummer since we ordered several side items for dipping, and only realized this later. I cannot believe the audacity of the kitchen staff at this establishment. my dad generously gave a $5 tip to the young man at the register--who, by the way, was working hard and providing excellent service--only to hear the bitter, nosy kitchen staff nagging him in the back, clearly trying to swipe his tip! It's neither fast nor cheap. $7 for one of their basic chicken sandwiches is not what I sign up for when I go to Carl's Jr. The person at the drive through seemed really inattentive, as I had to ask several times to get some ranch. In addition, the food wasn't even hot when I got it; I had to put the food in the microwave as soon as I got home. For how much you get when you pay more than $3 dollars for a small amount of fries and fried zucchini--that's $3 each--I'd rather go to McDonalds (though that's underselling McD, they seem to have held up the best out of fast food places now). What I paid for my meal here is comparable to what I paid at a mom-and-pop shop recently, yet at the latter I was filled up for the entire day. This just didn't compare. I just ordered a burger and fries and the lady charged me $12.32 at the drive-thru. I was thinking to myself that's pretty high for just a hamburger and a fry, so when she gave me the bag, I looked in it and there was no receipt. The WORST experience.... Thursday night, drive thru: Filled the survey out for free sandwich with purchase of sandwich. Seems simple right? Well the employees seemed to disagree. What was ordered was the burger with 2 patties and guac... What was received (with a shove the bag through the drive thru window and an immediate slamming window and BRISKLY walking away, without so much as a "have a good night!" or "ketchup?" I would have even been okay with a glance or nod of acknowledgment) was single patties with a double dose of attitude. They were called out, and yes finally did get the order correct, but it shouldn't be like pulling teeth to get the order correct. I was SHOCKED..! Is it too much to ask for the food ordered to also be the food received? Is there a problem because one was free? If so, does that really affect the employees making the sandwich? From the information I've gathered apparently this is a common issue with not just this location doing this, but ALL of them. The attitude was ridiculous... and the only reason I feel they almost deserve 1 star is because at least they held the spit... I didn't notice the charge because I used debit card. The next day I found out from my bank account and rushed there for complain. They use crisp iceberg lettuce and crisp tomatoes... for some reason I always get some wilty looking lettuce at BK or McD's.
