Sometimes, visiting can be a bit overstimulating, and I was having some decision making fatigue especially with overthinking produce and everything in the news (even though I know California is unaffected--but it was still on my mind as an anxiously inclined person)! Food (3-4 stars) + The double-double remains a classic winner--fresh veggies, soft bun, consistent flavor every time. + The flying Dutchman on a grilled onion wrap with animal-style fries and chopped chiles was fun--about $11. Tasty, but it makes you miss that classic burger-and-fries simplicity. - Unfortunately, the "extra well-done" fries weren't well-done--this is the third time they've missed the mark. Inconsistent fry execution is disappointing. We could've asked for another fry but we were too hungry to wait. Service/Ambiance (3 stars) + We beat the lunch rush arriving at noon--only a short wait! ~ The line got huge right after, so timing matters. ~ Standard friendly service overall, but the ongoing fry issue makes me question consistency. Great in N out and one of the few located within San Jose. The service is pretty good but not exceptional. The cashier wasn't friendly but you can tell she is somewhat interested in her job. The employee that called out my number and handed the food to me was very friendly and nice. For my food I got a double double with animal style fries. The burger as always is delicious. Everything is well cooked and tasty. Fries were good too. Inside there is plenty of seating with a nice restroom as well. We went through the drive through to grab burgers and fries for the family. The line wasn't too long yet around 11am on the weekend. The girl standing outside who took our order was nice. I always get extra grilled onions on all my food so requested that on my cheese burger and fries, while my companion got a double double animal style, cheese burger, and his own fries. When we got our order and drove home, I was really disappointed to find that my fries didn't have the extra grilled onions that I'd asked for. In addition to that, one of our fry orders was also suuuper light on fries. Usually In-N-Out is very generous loading up and topping off their fry orders, but the quantity we got was like a third of what we usually received and was maybe a third filled not even hitting the brim of the container. We've been to this chain plenty enough times to know what a normal order looks like. My companion guessed maybe they ran out of fries in that batch so just threw what was left in the bag before handing it over, but that seems quite disingenuous of them to do that if they did. Anyway, I hope this location does better not to skimp on the fry quantity and keep it consistent across orders. I came here for lunch after working out and running errands. I hadn't been to East SJ in a long time, so wasn't very familiar with this area anymore. It was nice to see newer buildings and businesses going up. In-n-Out sounded like a good lunch, so I headed over to this location. As with all In-n-Outs, this place was crowded - and it was lunch time, so it was even worse. I didn't want to stand in line and opted to go through drive through, which snaked its way around the parking lot. The crew members taking orders were quick. Another 10 minutes in line and I got my food. The drive through was kind of built curvy, so I was afraid I'd curb my wheels, but thankfully, I made it out okay. After navigating through the parking lot, I made my way home. All crew members were great - quick, efficient and friendly. The food was great as always - the only complaint I have is that I barely got any lettuce on my burger. It would be nice to have a good amount like in most other locations. This is out of the way for me, so I don't see myself here often. It was nice to try a new location, though. read more

The line is always incredibly long but the quality still tastes the same after so many years. That's what I love about In-N-Out Burger because you can go to any location and it will always be consistently good. The Capitol Expressway location can get crazy at times but it's worth the wait because the smell of their burgers is absolutely wonderful and the staff is always super friendly. I love getting my fries medium well so they have a little crisp to it without being too hard. I love how the staff will take your order well in advance and by the time you arrive at the window, your order is ready and still piping hot. Don't forget to ask for several packets of the sauce so that you can dip your fries into them. Still inexpensive but also good. read more

The quality of the food was as good as you'd expect from an In N Out, the service was decent in the front when they took our order. Unfortunately, they are not as good in the kitchen, they messed up our drink order and didn't do a good job with the alterations to our meal as well. It is a bit heavier side, with a whopping total of 600-700 calories but it'll keep you full for the rest of the day until your next meal. The service is good, cashiers are friendly. How have I eaten here for YEARS and never wrote or reviewed about it? Lol. Anyways, it's no secret that In-N-Out burger is a widely popular fast food joint in the Bay Area. My usual order would be their double-double and animal styled fries (their not so secret item) which consists of chopped grilled onions with sliced cheese and animal sauce. Tip: if you like their animal sauce, you can request for additional packets from the servers! Be wary though, as they are extremely addictive! Another tip: avoid drive thru if you can. We made it right before they closed, 30 mins till closing, we got in the drive thru line and placed our order. 2 double doubles with extra everything including grilled onions and 1 fries cooked light well. Total came out to be a little bit over $16. Props to the homeboy placing orders in the cold, you deserve a raise. Drive thru lane moved quickly and took about 10 mins till we got to the first payment window then to the second window to pick up our order. Nostalgia sells. So I think. When you restore any old car you're not merely restoring rusty steel but rather old memories. Equally so, I'm not sure why this chain has such a loyal following but I'm guessing it has to do with memories. I'm speculating that if you grew up in CA this old style "drive through burger joint" might offer a touch of good ol' days happy reveries. I personally wasn't impressed with the fast food product per say but that is idiosyncratic for me, and I fully expect and respect that others may have a different opinion, which is perfectly fine. There were some very nice touches: - burger was pink inside that pointed to fresh not frozen beef patties - they have a "protein option", without buns, condiments, fake cheese, or other carbs. - liked how they separated the burgers and fries by the use of different boxes. Boxes are much easier to carry than bags especially if you're buying for a whole family. - young people behind the counter were awesome, competent and motivated! Some misses: - would have preferred another lettuce instead of iceberg - no salads on the menu (this is a straight up "burger & fries joint"... go burger or go home!)
