She, along with the front desk staff, and the optician were kind and inviting. I purchased glasses after my office visit, but I never felt pressured to make my purchase there. Additionally, the optician ensured that I received every add-on feature that was covered under my insurance when ordering my glasses. Simple, these guys were great. I was in the area from Maryland, tending to my fathers final arrangements, services, etc.. I had damaged my glasses and they blew up into three pieces. My daughter verified these guys sold the same style frames, "Silhouette" . They said come on by and we will fix you up. They repaired my glasses at NO FEE and in a quick timely manner for a walk-in. Super nice people, excellent location based on close by amenities. If they treated an out-of-towner, non customer this well, imagine what you get as a customer. My daughter has been her 3 times to see Dr.Millet. The doctor is very helpful with any questions we have and is very encouraging and positive to my daughter (who is extremely shy and can be very nervous about answering a question wrong). They have an adorable selection of children frames and they always give us a nice variety that is covered by her insurance. They have also replaced my daughters lenses (not even 2 weeks after she got them) when she got a scratch that was impairing her sight in 1 eye and for free of charge. We have had to wait 10 or so minutes after our appointment time to be seen but the staff is wonderful and apologetic about the wait. Glasses usually take a week or so to get in. read more

She is exceptionally well educated and informed in her field and offers "layperson" explanations to her patients - a loss art! My family and I have been seeing Dr. Witmeyer for years and she is truly amazing! She is brilliant and takes great care of her clients. Dr. Witmeyer is additionally fantastic with kids. I have twins that have been in contacts with her since they were in third grade (5 years). It was scary for me to take the leap but she took the time to get the perfect lenses, perfect comfort, and taught them how to use and clean them properly. It's taken me a while to write this review, until I received a call from them today asking me to schedule my next appointment coming up in NOVEMBER! It's August? I've been in one time. I took off work an hour early to make it to my appointment on time with traffic coming from la jolla. I waited an HOUR (after my designated appointment time) before being seen. The optometrist did give me a very nonchalant "oh I'm sorry about the wait" which led me to believe this is the norm for them. Then she proceeded to talk to me like I was 8. The front desk lady also did the same. Maybe they are used to only seeing children in their office? Im not sure. All I do know is, I'm an adult, missing time with my kid who has been in daycare all day, waited an hour to be seen by an optometrist to talk down to me? No thank you. They also had a very dorky glasses selection. Not happy with this place and I have no idea how they have so many stars on yelp. No I will not recommend to a friend. read more

I was looking for new optometrist after moving to Oceanside from Rancho Bernardo my insurance rated this better than optometrists in Oceanside as well as yelp reviews so I was willing to drive a few extra miles; it was worth it great friendly courteous staff, Dr. Millet was attentive to my questions, and I was not pressured to add upgrades for glasses as I have found some optometry offices tend to push additional costs. I went here because of all the positive reviews. The service and visit was good. Very friendly and personable staff. The only problem was I called to inform prior to the visit and after the visit that there is coordination of benefit. They only billed one insurance therefore my copay was close to $200. The issue was finally resolved today and my visit was close to 2 months ago. I made multiple calls to follow up. I give them A for effort in promising that it will be resolved but poor communication. I followed up every few weeks and was not updated with the status of my refund. I would return but I do hope next time will be a better experience. The true test of customer service is providing support to clients especially when there are problems. I felt like the expectation is for me to pay timely when service is provided but a business should communicate the status and resolution to a problem if me as the client had been patient and understanding of the whole situation even if it was not my fault. Hopefully, the next experience will be better than this one. read more

Top Notch Care!!! I starting going here two years ago. I met with Dr. Witmeyer and and had a first thorough eye exam. She is knowledgeable, kind (she talks thru everything she is doing), and she takes her time in answering questions. After that appointment I sent our son who was 7 at the time for an exam. She works really well with kids (I know I teach), and my son was never in fear (even the numbing drops). I then sent my husband, who is picky about doctors, and he was very happy with his visit and exam. We had previously visited the year prior to our exam with Dr. Witmeyer with an Optomistrist here in Carlsbad that both my husband I and felt was terrible. Dr. Witemeyer was recommended to us by a friend, and we are happy to report she gave is an excellent recommendation. This year I went back for my yearly exam, and my husband. Again, we had a great visit. The front desk staff are friendly and will take good care of your appointment needs. Dr. Witmeyer referred me to an Opthamologist (spelling). I've had problems with my eyes since I was born (40+) years ago. As I am getting older my eyes have become out of alignment, and my vision is changing. Dr. W. did perscribe me for the first time ever reading glasses with a minor perscription (nothing too strong). Anyway, I visited the Opthamologist (it was an ok visit, not impressed with them), and that doctor gave me "a prism" perscription. When I went back to Dr. W. she was not convinced this new prism perscription was going to work for me. She told me to try it for a bit, but is concerned I'll get massive headaches, or just wont like it. She said she would save my original perscription and remove the prism if I needed it. I'm still trying to make the prism work, as its only for small amounts of time, and it's been a week. Now my next story is my husband. He has been struggling with his eyes being blurry and seeing double these last two weeks. He went to see Dr. W. for an emergency visit and she did and exam and has sent him to our Primary Care Physician for blood work. Thank you to her thoroughness our PCP found some issues with my husbands health. Because she took her time and because of her knowlege we are working on getting my husband healthy. Dr. Witmeyer even called my husband today, it's Saturday, to check on him. So maybe it's just a routine eye exam, or maybe it's something more, Dr. Witmeyer cares. Thanks for reading. read more

I went to Carlsbad Optometry today and was pleasantly surprised by how great the whole experience was. I saw Dr. Millet who was great - she told me exactly what she was doing, answered all my questions, and took her time. Angelica helped me pick out frames - and didn't mind showing me a million pairs. Since today was Tuesday and they were open until 8, so I was able to think about it for a while, then go back and order the frames. Very convenient office hours and everyone is so nice. They did the calculations for my portion verses my insurance portion at the time of my appointment and I only had to pay the balance. Very thorough. When you make your appointment make sure you find out which doctor will be seeing you. Mine was with a different doctor other than the main doctor. She was great too, but since the other doctor had come out into the office previously, when the other doctor called me back, I did not realize she was the doctor. Embarrassing! read more

Dr. Whitmeyer is amazing. My 2-year old son accidentally scratched his eye with his fingernail. She was able to see him the same day. She was amazingly caring and patient with him (and my 5-year old that was forced to tag along). Then she completed two follow-up exams to make sure he was healing correctly and did not develop iritis. She did not charge for the follow-ups and was extremely knowledgable, thorough, patient, professional, and understanding. My family has had all good experiences with the Optometrists at this office. Took my 5 yr old daughter to Dr. Witmeyer's office for an eye exam. They were able to get us in, the very next day. Extremely thorough exam, an Dr. Witmeyer explained the different tests to both of us prior to performing each portion of the exam, which alleviated the anxiety my daughter had going into her first eye exam. Dr. Witmeyer was a great pediatric Optometrist, and was able to recognize and switch things up a bit, when it was apparent my daughter was struggling with some of the letters. She is the 3rd optometrist I've seen in 3 years and she is the first who said it may be possible for me to wear contacts for short & long distance in spite of my age related presbyopia. She did the fitting herself and is obviously highly skilled and knowledgeable. We experimented with many creative options until I was happy.
