This was such a fun event during May 2024. The only part that wasn't fun was finding parking for over 30 minutes. :) Saw lots of unique booths and delicious food offerings that we indulged in. The live band was playing some awesome 80's hits and then the main bass speaker blew and was making a clapping sound. Can't wait to return next month (Nov 2024) for the next street fair. For sure I will be there.

Great entertainment and so many options for food and beverages! It gets chilly at night so bring a sweatshirt. The vibe is so positive and there were lots of vendors selling their unique items.

So much to see! There were about 20 vendors. Don't come too early because the food vendors don't really finish set up until lunch time. We thought to come here for breakfast, but ended up going to a nearby shop for food and then coming back. Vendors sold items from bags, clothes, hot sauce, cotton candy, lemonade, kettlecorn, candles, etc. Never thought I would get lost in a street market, but I sure did! It spanned about 6 different streets

This is maybe my fourth time visiting the street fair and I always look forward to checking out all the goods and getting my steps in for the day. I usually meet up with my daughter and her boyfriend and sometimes a couple of my brothers join us so it becomes a fun family afternoon. During previous visits I've purchased some nice yard art, Italian ceramic dip bowls, yummy dog treats that my dogs just love and of course my traditional bag of kettle corn! During this visit we saw a beautiful metal bird that looks like it is flying when the wind blows through it. If I had a space for it I would have bought it in a second !

    Nice day..

Why should you go to the Carlsbad street fair with its epic parking issues? Just take the free shuttle bus and bypass all the frustration! Good stuff - So many vendors selling everything from gadgets to homemade items. Bathrooms readily available. Food vendors are all grouped together in one convenient area. Inappropriately dressed women. Bad stuff - Jerky Hut. About as reputable as a game of three-card monte. There are no prices posted here. Just the two sour owners selling 3for$30 Jerky. They hide from you the fact that not all the Jerky qualifies for the 3X30, in fact the stuff you want to buy is strangely "higher in price" when you go pay for it so they try to add in a few extra bucks to the total. They give you major attitude when you put something back and don't buy. The Shuttle pick up area at the "The Shoppes at Carlsbad" mall is not clearly marked. However, just look for the "Sun Diego" charter bus and follow it to the staging area. Hint, it's not in the bus loading area as you might think. Tip Start your visit in the afternoon around 1:30 - 2PM with the shuttle ( no wait, walk right onto bus). End your day at 5PM at the fair and get back on the bus (no wait).. It's about three hours to see everything unless you enjoy gabbing with the vendors. Also figure about 2.5 miles of walking.

Tons of flavored pistachios & dried fruit

Awesome bi-annual giant village street fair. Thousand of venders, tons of food, drinks, desserts, clothing, snacks, fruit, nuts, and home decor items. This is the biggest street fair that I've been to within 60 miles. Many streets are closed off, and it runs along Grand Ave from Jefferson to PCH. I love purchasing the gourmet bunt cakes, flavored pistachios, unique jewelry, specialty drinks, and handmade items. Parking is all street. You'll need to park a ways to find something, but the walk is worth it. It can get warm walking in the sun for a couple hours, so be prepared. It's a great time out here and so close to SD...so it's a great stop before heading downtown.

It was raining so probably not as crowded as it would have been.

My friend Darc looked up the Carlsbad Street Fair and apparently it is one of the biggest in the NATION! Go Carlsbad! Darcy and I found a business that had paid parking (couldn't get near State Street!) and then we walked for breakfast to Senor Grubby's, and then checked out the fair. It started to rain just as we got there at 10.30 am!!! Ducked into Fairen Del and bought an umbrella and then continued on our path. This fair is about three blocks square, with lots of the shops that aren't in the fair putting out stuff in front of their stores. Lots of people were in the stores, too, because of the rain. Really fun crowd and some fun stuff. Darc and I both got 1500 thread Egyptian Cotton sheets for $34.95/set. And then we both found some artwork. A French guy had giclee's (transfers onto either paper or canvas). Darc got a famous 1898 painting on paper for $75. I got a large, beautiful 1920s scene of the Southern Italy coast on canvas for $110. There was food everywhere and lots of cheerful people in spite of the rain. Next time I'll be sure to bring a great big shopping bag, 'cause my fingers were breaking by the time I got back to the car. Great way to spend a Sunday morning in C'bad.

This dynamic is welcomed to most people because they get to socialize and buy more then just fresh fruits and veggies. The only thing I am critical about is the organization of the booth space that allows the flow of people in better safety and comfort. I assume there was some store front push back that wanted 100% of there sidewalk available and clear surfing the market but what that has done has jammed too many people in what is obviously a "narrow space" to walk. It would be a fair and SAFE compromise to use 50% of the sidewalks on each side and adjust back the venders booths giving people 5 feet more in the middle to walk around. It would be easier to do this rather then assume or ask people to not stand around creating bottlenecks or be considerate of others and move like a car on a road. Expect to drive around for parking if you are not local enough to walk to the event and crowding due to the popular area it is in, live music, fresh foods and drinks as well as plenty of unique crafts and clothing.

We came early so there was plenty of parking still, but it can be hard navigating with all of the people trying to get in and out. Next time I think I will park in the church and take the shuttle bus and see if that is better. I like that this Renaissance Fair is big but not too big. Sometimes too big can get overwhelming, and you don't get to see everything. This one is a really good size and there are a lot of things to see and do, and tons of vendors. I will say a lot of the booths were very expensive for their Wares. However I don't have much to compare it to, so this may be standard for Renaissance Fair merchants and goods. I will say I have seen some very beautiful items, some of which definitely look like they have put a lot of work into. There were several places inside for food, and surprisingly the prices weren't extremely terrible, and the food was pretty good. I had Carnitas fries, and fried zucchini, both of which were pretty good. I loved seeing everyone dressed up, and putting so much effort into these elaborate costumes. There are activities and entertainment as well. The actors really get into character, and we got to see the procession with the queen in tow. Since it was my first time I didn't do a lot of the activities, but they did have some games, archery, Etc. We did stop inside the Beer Garden, which had some entertainment that was very funny. It definitely was more adult-oriented in there, which makes sense. They had people singing funny songs, and they held two contests while we were there, one for the men and one for the women. We were there for several hours, and if you do a lot of the activities I could see you easily spending the whole day here. It's a lot of walking so we're comfortable shoes. I enjoyed myself, and think I would do this again, as be participate in more of the activities.

The good news is that the place was not crowded when we arrived. We had enough time and space to walk all around without bumping into people. I like this version of the fair, not crowded with time to enjoy everything. I needed something healthy to eat so we headed to the pop up Albertsons Market that I normally go to across from Chicken Charlie's on the way to the kiddieland. I got a pretzel bun sandwich, chips, and a Naked Juice drink. All for $18. Perfect! We enjoyed our food at the eatery picnic tables next to the market. These tables were sort of clean and had not been used up and dirty like the end of the fair conditions. We visited many exhibits, the woodmaker's shop, the animals, the Hollandia milking show, and so many cool things. We also tried the candy maze in the farm exhibit hall. The nostalgic candy is not fresh so don't be surprised if it tastes old after you buy it; now we know. Very cool to try the Hollandia Dairy Coffee bottles, just cold brew, cream, and cane sugar...it WAS BETTER THAN DUTCH BROS COFFEE! Tried the grilled corn on the cob, and it was delicious, yay! I was able to get a discounted parking ticket online at $4.00 off coming to a total of only $16.00. I was able to conveniently upload the ticket in my "wallet" on my phone. There were a lot of vendors present that were geared toward home improvement then there were the other ones who were very pushy hawking skin care. That's not what we came for. We were looking into a water system for our home & hoped to see the folks selling Murphy beds this year. They had an outdoor area with garden items and plants. There were 3 food trucks out there. We shared a delicious cappuccino. We spoke to Life Source Water Systems for a bit & with Verizon. We had switched to T-Mobile and regret it. We may switch back to Verizon. With Life Source we submitted for financing, got approved but changed our minds about the system when we found out they don't eliminate hard water. So, why go with this system and at a $8,000 price tag? It was nice to visit and for it to be in this location in Del Mar. it's a very pretty area. It was odd to see the actual buildings because we usually come here for the fair and the buildings are obscured by tents and kiosks. At any rate the fairgrounds are well maintained & always offer a nice, clean, and spacious venue.

But how fun for those who do participate in that part of the event. I'd have to say this year they had a fantastic turnout, from the marketing, and the business being true to the strawberry theme. Being that the majority of the business, that had a pop up there, had some sort of strawberry something or other to be sold. Many people came in theme too ~~ with their very creative outfits. I especially loved that! And if you didn't come in theme you had lots of options to buy something and join in on the berry fun of it all. You can see in the photos that I posted just some of the things that we enjoyed. I like to sample and then circle back to buy if I can't stop thinking about something I spotted or tried. We took some cards and also followed some on their social medias in order to revisit supporting them at a later date. *Only qualm is people's impatience and driving erratically nearby & the fight or flight mode that kicks in because of issues with getting just the right parking spot.
