Went into the carmax JUST to get my car appraise and there was an older Nissan o7 that was waiting with me the big black guy came to my car and a white older skinny guy went to the Nissan. The 2007 Nissan was don't in like 7-10 minutes tell me how he took 30 minutes on my car at first I didn't care but I was getting hit the black guy pulled the liner off my truck and said he wasn't able to put it back on (why tf did he take it off) didn't care cause maybe that's what u do but how tf u don't know how to put it on. There was a 2012 Cadillac SUV and a about 2017 Porsche Cayenne SUV. The same black guy checked both cars and they were WHITE men and they took under 5 minutes didn't take anything off nothing laughed with the Chyanne driver for a while saying how nice his car was! Are you FREAKING KIDDING ME IS IT CAUSE IM BLACK YOU HAVE TO TREAT ME IN THAT WAY. This is the first time I've ever been to a carmax never going back! Waste of my time and I felt like I wasn't even wanted there by the same race black guy that checked my car like he was the police no I started getting upset so I got in the nice guy inside gave me my quote after me being there for an hour and the 2007 Nissan was there the same time I was there in and out wtf really I didn't even care he gave me a paper I put it right in the trash by the front door. This rating is based on our experience in having Carmax appraise our 2009 Jetta SEL in hopes of selling it to them. Unfortunately, there is not anything positive to say. The estimated wait time of 30 minutes for an appraisal became two hours. The service person we had not only used a vast amount of street slang to speak to us[unprofessional], but was not transparent regarding why they were offering us $1,275 our car, which according to several other estimates appraises for up to $6,750 if sold privately and $4,150 if traded in. Furthermore, it had a brand new A/C, new brakes, and four new tires[all within the past six weeks]. It didn't add up - they were offering us less than we paid for those three items alone, and $2,875 less than market trade-in value. We continued to probe the agent about details noted by the appraisers, but all he could say were vague statements like "There are some things wrong with the car." We knew this wasn't true based on having had two mechanics inspect it thoroughly just prior to bringing it in. Finally, the agent went back to the appraisers to verify that the quote which they sent in eloctronically was actually for our car, and that they realized that the car had all of the upgrades[extended package]. He came back saying that they stated that they did not realize that it had all of the enhancements, and thus added $150 to what they initially offered. If they didn't realize that it had alloy wheels, a sunroof, audio package, leather seats, and all of the other various upgrades, how thorough could they have evaluated the car. Needless to say, we did not sell the car to Carmax, but rather put an ad in Auto Trader for $5,500. It sold within five days for $5,000 cash to someone who did a thorough inspection, being a mechanic, and we haven't heard from they buyer since we sold it to him three months ago! DO NOT TRUST CARMAX! For them, it's all about intake for the lowest, non-transparent amount which an ignorant coustomer will accept, and selling it for the highest price which a non-wise customer will pay! read more

I wouldn't advise anyone to take there vehicle here for any kind of service or repair. I created a yelp account just to leave this review. The staff was friendly but mostly incompetent. I had to have my starter and ac compressor replaced and was told the part needed to fix my ac would take a couple of weeks to arrive. They were good at communicating to me that the part was delayed in arriving which was fine. They told me that my starter was fixed so I could drive the car without ac until the part arrived. I paid 40$ for a cab to take me there to pick up my car and when i got there they couldn't find my keys and had no idea what to do about it. I ended up being there for nearly two hours before they finally figured out how to retrieve my keys from where ever they were. When i finally walked out with my keys and got into my car it wouldn't start. They had not in fact fixed my starter or even began to work on the car. It took 3 weeks total and they didn't offer me a loaner vehicle. read more

Last week I took my car here for serious repairs. Everything went fine up until I mentioned to the salesman, King, that my trunk doesn't work. When I put the key in it doesn't open the trunk. Instead of saying okay we will take a look at that or whatever he mentioned a few things that it might have been. I was confused on why he didn't keep the car to repair that especially since I still had the rental car for 5 more days. Well that was Saturday. I recently moved my kids and I to a new place. Since the trunk key did not work and the push button for the trunk did I figured we were alright and we were....until the trunk button stopped working! So there were my children and I packing and my kids clothes, computer, and groceries were in the trunk and it could not open. I pushed and pushed the button and even tried again the trunk and nothing. I sat and was livid. There was a lot more trunk space and we could not access it! I could not believe it! Had the trunk key issue been addressed when I told King about it we would not have had this problem. I have a certified mechanic friend that has a shop and he came down to look at it, as my kids wore the same clothes all day Saturday and Sunday. He told me that he would have to take out my entire back seat. We agreed to Sunday for me to drive up to him and for him to try to open my trunk. Yes try because he couldn't even guarantee that it could open! Fast forward he was able to get my trunk open but I had to leave church early and it was our church's anniversary and of course as we left early we had all heads turned looking at us as service was still going on, I had to drive more than 40 minutes as he is way up North, I missed work and my boss was so upset about me not coming in that I was afraid that I wouldn't have a job and then it was the gas that I used up as I had previously filled up my tank. All of this took out more than three hours of my time, gas, leaving church, and possibly my job loss. At the end of all of this, my kids and I were exasperated and just went home. At least my kids did get to finally change clothes and I went to my job after this and he said I'll call you tomorrow and closed the door in my face so I am thankfully still employed. I kept thinking that if King had kept my car and had the techs do my trunk this all would have been avoided. Customer service has gone down a lot at Carmax. My boyfriend has been telling me since last year to let's go and get me a new car. My car is almost 11 years old and now he has convinced me. We will purchase my new car. It will not be from Carmax. That incident with the trunk was the drop of water that broke the dam. My groceries, some of which were perishable was ruined and now I had to replace it. Carmax please do better! Listen to your customers when they address any and ALL car issues please!!!! read more

I'm looking into getting my first car. I came here yesterday around 6-7pm and was helped by Georgette. She showed me a versa on her computer that I was interested in seeing but when we walked onto the lot, it was nowhere to be found. In the meantime, I found a cute Yaris tucked all the way in a corner and it was locked. When I met back up with her, I asked if we could open it so I could check out the inside. What I'll say is that she was very nice, BUT it became clear that she was rushing us in a very polite and clever way. She collected all of my info and was literally about to process a loan application before she even let me sit inside of the car. Luckily my fiancé stepped in and stopped the process before it went further. While she walked us to the car, she commented on the time as if it was too late to let me test drive it. She had said she would let me in and let me drive it to check it out properly just moments before. She even went through the trouble of moving the car that was in front of it so that I could pull it out. As soon as I did tho, she stopped me and said "you're not supposed to drive it, you're actually not even supposed to pull it out" ... Then why did you tell me I could? Why did you even pull out the car in front of it? It just didn't make sense and things just felt tense for me from there. I decided that I didn't like the interior of the car, it felt dated and the whole experience of being rushed didn't sit well with me either especially since this is my first car buying experience. I won't be back here for my first car purchase but I appreciate her time. read more

They embellish what they can do before you purchase a car then once purchased it's all down hill from there. While my car was in their possession for a minor repair it was damaged while under their control. It took 3 days for a one day job. When I finally picked up the car it was filthy. I got my car appraised 1 week ago to sell it. We decided to sell it through Carmax and returned Monday morning. As soon we walked in, we were told there would be a 3 hour wait, at least. We were told to make an appointment for later in the day as then we would not have to wait. We made an appointment for 5:00 later that day and returned at that time. I walked in and got in line. I could hear the employee through the window telling another customer trying to sell their car that there was at least a 3-4 hour wait. When I got to the window, I told the employee, Miquel, that I had an appointment. He was very dismissive and said "that doesnt matter, you will have to wait like everyone else...." I said then what was the point of my returning a 2nd time WITH AN APPOINTMENT if I was just going to have to wait ANOTHER 3-4 hours..Isnt that the entire purpose of having an appointment? He said who did you call and what did they tell you? I told him I called the local 954 # to make an appointment and he said no no, you must have called the call center...I told him I didnt! I called the local number. I even showed him the call on my cel phone. I asked to speak to the manager who said "you were given wrong information...." I was then told I would have to get back in line. I stood there in line. About 2 minutes later, a woman employee came out and yelled "Do we have any cars that are being sold that are leases?" I and a few others raised our hands. She took great pleasure in saying "nope nope...you will have to come back tomorrow....the banks are closed so we wont be able to verify how much you owe on your lease...We open at 10..." Again, NO ONE told me this when I called to make the appointment. I approached her and she turned her back on me and started talking to another customer. Miguel stood behind the glass making faces and basically being condescending to everyone in line. I understand being busy BUT I do NOT understand misinformation, lack of apologies, and rudeness. We left there and sold our car through Vroom FOR more! This establishment is horrible. DONT SELL YOUR CAR HERE! read more

Very good experience. My rep, Norman Gibertini was very helpful in emailing and texting me vehicles that fit my want list. Since I was not in a hurry, we took the time to find the exact perfect Prius I was looking for, and Norman had it shipped n/c from another Car Max in Florida to our location in Ft Laud. Great experience, test drive. Even let me sit on the decision for a few days, then came by to pick it up, all washed and a full tank. Only glitch was, that even though were were cash buyers, it still took 3 hours to transact the deal. End result is that we love the car. On a recent trip up the state, we were getting 57 mpg! Extended warranty, warning!!!!! I went to take my car in under the extended warranty and I am grateful that they covered the repair. The kicker is that for every diagnostic that they run on the car you get charged $50.00 for each one. I had two and that equals a $100.00. Than they pay for a rent a car as long as it is warranted items. The only thing is that they only allow $25.00 a day for the rent a car. Can you say, clown car. It would have been nice to know all this in the first place. The extended warranty works for the dealership as well. Here I come Chrysler!!!! Be careful of the warranty, it has fine lines. read more

Y'all need to re-examine what you stand for when you say customer service... This purchase will be my first and final purchase at the Coconut Creek, FL CarMax. On November 22, 2017, I had bought my 2012 Orange Hyundai Veloster from them. Everything seemed to be perfect and kept in well condition until I brought it home. At the time I had flown down to FL for the day to buy this car and went back home to Nashville, TN where I had paid from another source to have it shipped. Before shipment, I had left the car at my dad's for a couple weeks. Over the course of the weeks, my dad picked up on things we had failed to discuss at CarMax. One major issue was the battery, it was old and needed to be replaced. We also noticed a few minor issues including window shield wipers and their fluid had also needed to be replaced. As my father had taken it back to CarMax for further inspection we waited a few more days for the car to be returned hopefully in better condition. To my luck, the parts were never fixed or even touched. As a result, I ended up paying for new wipers, fluid, and a brand new battery out of my own pocket. Along with these issues, CarMax also did a terrible job at supergluing my panel near my passenger door on. As the piece had popped off when I was driving down the interstate. If you're going to say we have a month to get things fixed under your roof then you should hold up your (CarMax's) end of the bargain and stay true to your word. When the car had finally arrived in Nashville I had called and set up and appointment with the office in Nashville as my month had not ended. I spoke with a gentleman who I thought would finally be the man to help me. We discussed the issue and the piece and made a date and time to come in and fix it. I had mentioned to him I was traveling internationally and will not be home for 2 weeks, although, he still worked around this issue. A little later, I gave him a call and received no response and promptly left a voicemail. 5 calls later from both me and my father at both Nashville and Coconut Creek, no response. It seems as if yall had waited that whole month out. I am now writing about this issue almost a year later because I have made an appointment with a body shop to get the damage repaired. The window panel alone cost me $230... No wonder you didn't want to pitch in. Please don't waste your time here. If CarMax would ever like to resolve this issue with me, I would be more than willing to hear them out as I hold true to my word. read more

I had a great experience at Carmax from start to finish. I stopped in 3 days ago just to look around the lot to see what they had. I was greeted by Peter. I looked around (without Peter) and did not really see anything that I was crazy about. I got Peter's card on my way to the exit and he was as nice as when I came in. But still; great to experience nice people, but ultimately I want to connect with a car I like. So I went home, looked at the Carmax website and found a VW Jetta at the Miami store that looked nice. I called Peter, and the next day the car was transferred from MIA to FTL. I went back and test drove the transferred Jetta and another car. I liked the Jetta and still zero pressure to close sale (I think I was the one pushing more to fill out the paperwork actually). I received a very fair offer for my trade in ($400 less than KBB), and was approved with my so-so credit for a reasonable APR. There was no "let me check with my sales mgr" etc. No dealer fee, and a very smooth experience. 1 hour elapsed between the time I test drove and drove away home with the car. When I got home, I realized the car's manual was for the wrong model. I called Peter (after the sale) and he greeted me again with the correct car manual in his hand today. I would recommend this Carmax, and Peter. I won't quote Carmax's commercial slogan, but it truly was a great experience! read more

What a disappointment! I visited Sat. Mar16, 2019 to get a value on my 2016 Toyota Tacoma. I'm trying to make a decision on whether to sell or not. The employee who helped seemed totally uninterested unless I wanted to trade my truck same day. He kept glancing over my shoulder, more interested in other things going on, asked me the same questions about my truck 3 or more times, etc. He never even offered to have the vehicle inspected to give me a written offer. When your there they do there best to make you happy but before you sign for that vehicle make sure again it comes with a spare tire and a jack for that car I been fighting with them for months to get one for my car for them to hand me a green thing for a fix a flat .. I have called corporate office and management for there Service manager to tell me that it's a option and they don't need to replace it! So again Pedro insured me when I bought the car I would have a jack and a spare tire then I call him he said sometimes the dealer takes them out and he can not help me ... it's just bad Business when your paying for a car over 20,000 to not have a jack or a spare tire knowing you get a flat the car would need to be towed .. I have looked up one to replace for my car there over $500 having car payments and car insurance I do not have the money to run out and get a spare tire in a jack because they like to make more money off me ! read more
