Salespeople do not pressure you whatsoever in terms of buying a car or not, if you find a car you want to look at, you just fill out a form and they hand you the keys for you to drive for 30 mins or so, you get to drive the vehicle wherever you want without a salesperson telling you to turn here and there. I do like that concept because it gives you a better chance of evaluating of the vehicle is for you or not. Once you're done, you go in and decide if you want the vehicle or not. bought a car here 7 months ago 2 months in i was getting misfires replaced spark plugs fuel injector problem went away. 5 months later the problem keeped occurring but it was only on startup so took it too the dealership to get looked at it quoted me for a new head and head gasket. turns out the previous owners overheated the crap out of my car most likely by redlining it. My experince was pretty negative. The guy who called would as questions in a way that made it hard to know what he was asking. For example, instead of saying "Do you have a vehicle to trade in?" He asked, "What's your current situation?" I was like, "What are you talking about?!" Also, you have to have an appointment to come in and look or test drive a vehicle. This is the strangest car dealership I have ever dealt with. My husband and I work full time and are very busy. Our hours to shop are very limited. I went on their website and it clearly stated that you could browse without an appointment. I was looking for a car with specific dimensions and just wanted to wander the lot to narrow down the possibilities. I left the house around 6:30 pm and decided to call Carmax to talk to a salesman. Big mistake! I told them what I was looking for and they asked if I could come the next day. That wasn't possible so they offered me an appointment at 8:30pm, 30 minutes before closing. I told them I was in the area and had planned on coming that night. I also didn't think 30 minutes was enough time to look around. Who wants to wait around for two hours to go to a dealership that says an appointment isn't required? I just wanted to wander the lot and didn't need a babysitter. I asked if I could come and they said I couldn't come until 8:30pm. I declined and will take my business to a dealership that needs business, because this one obviously doesn't! read more

Don't waste your time here. They mislead me with interest rates and made me submit my application TWICE for TWO hard inquiries. I don't care that they consolidate later... I'm trying to buy a car now and you just fucked my credit. First app says 3.45% then it won't submit the order... so we start an app from the back end system instead and it requires another pull... well now the interest rate says 6.75. The first pull was incorporating my 5000 down of my trade in as an additional 5000 down. Well I could have stopped right then and left... but instead I was told to submit another app because they didn't even catch that. So you made me pull my credit twice just to make it higher. Wouldn't work with me on anything to compensate for this. The joke of a supervisor offered me $199 doc fee off. Talk about insulting. I will be filing with BBB, calling corporate and disputing everything since you provided misinformation to get my consent. Hope you all rot. read more

The finalization of completing the sale is always fast and easy. The warranty has never been questioned if we needed any follow up work after making the purchase. I wanted to like this place, but for being a hassle free place, they made buying a car very frustrating. Their prices were higher than most other places. Their computer system had a lot of redundant features. I had to give them the same information three different times for three different purposes because they're computer system doesn't cross over from place to place. I loved the ability to reserve a car for a test drive from their app. They collected a ton of my information on the app and then said they needed to collect the same information in person. Ugh! It would have also been nice if they had given me a checklist or something of things I needed to bring to trade in a car, test drive, etc. I ended up spending 6 hours trying to purchase a car here. I don't know if I would go back to them. On top of all that, they put their stupid logo on my car and so now I have to drive around advertising for a dealership that I wouldn't recommend. Bought a car last November, and sales associate made a big point of the three month limited warranty, and detailed the repairs covered under the warranty. I live in Madison County in Idaho, and had to make sure that I could still take advantage of this warranty. sales person promised that in the unlikely case a repair was necessary, I could get it repaired at the shop of my choosing, and carmax would send me a check after. As expected, when I called to make sure a repair I needed was under warranty, and to ensure carmax would pay for the repair done in Rexburg, the service department promised to send me a check as soon as I emailed them the receipt. I don't know if the service department is incompetent, or just hopeful that the customer will forget about getting their repairs paid for under warranty, but I needed to call Carmax multiple times a week- holding their hand through the process of reimbursing me. I was told getting the physical check would take around a month, as they delight in using the slowest mail method. What they forgot to tell, is that the process if getting the check TO the mail takes at least a month. Fast forward four months, service department lady is trying to tell me that they never approved one of my repairs- coincidentally after she herself approved it twice over the phone. These associates are near impossible to get a hold of, and while professional to talk to, its a huge pain to attempt to work with them. This Carmax gets my one star for their hot chocolate. Their hot chocolate was very hot. Only good part of the experience. read more

Paint is not in great condition, clutch slips out of first 190,000 miles, but no engine codes (or any others), runs great, brand new Fuel lethal rims with winter tiers w/ a decent amount of tread, 4" lift, aftermarket suspension, and aftermarket radio/speakers. "Bruce D" (didn't introduce himself btw, I only got his name from a follow up email) submitted my application and I watched as he checked "No" on every question of my application, including the "aftermarket features" part of my application without even asking me a SINGLE question about my vehicle other than; make, model, and year. After about 30 minutes he come back and hands me a paper that offered $1000 for it and (in the waiting area, without even taking me back to his desk) asks "So you wanna sell it?" I was working with Shannon and she was helping me through selling my vehicle and looking for a new one or minimum a trade in. Although I didn't see anything I like at the lot in Sandy, she was helpful in looking for another outside of the state. There's obviously transfer fees which I wasn't going to pay for because there are other dealerships to visit, but there were no hard feelings and she was just extremely happy to help. To get an appraisal for your vehicle, you don't need to make an appointment but it's recommended on the weekends. It was a Friday afternoon and I had to wait about 30 minutes. Rex appraised our 2005 Suburban for a very fair price, so we sold it to Carmax. There were several typos and problems with the documents, so the process was frustrating. Rusty went with us on a test drive in a nice Dodge Ram truck--he was knowledgable and friendly. Tana was competent appraising our 2006 Toyota truck. The offer was almost $1000 lower than another car dealer's and several thousand below blue book value so we didn't sell it. The employees seem to enjoy working here and working with each other. Worst deal ever. Although the sales rep was helpful and tried helping us as best possible, at the end of the day they, they sold me a car approximately $8,000 more than what it was worth. When confronted with the fact that the car was overpriced, they refused to make any effort to gain my business. They pretty much said, we know we can get that price for that car, so we are not willing to negotiate. Also, with a 740 credit score, and $1500 down, they came back with an 8%APR. Then offered me $2000 for a trade in, when the value of the car was a little over $5000. The ONE good thing about this place is: they offer a 5 day return, no questions asked. Full refund, no restock fee, mileage/ rental fees, nothing. You are better off going to KEN GARFF at Southtown in Sandy. Ask for Ben.
