I found the "perfect" vehicle for us on their website, had great and helpful communication from Josh, got pre-approved at a low 5.7%, and decided to make the trip from San Diego (my sister lives there and test drove it for me). Everything about the process was smooth, fair, and easy. Jo in Finance took great care of all the CA transfer paperwork, and the DMV visit was seamless (really). This mint condition 2019 MDX Sport Hybrid Advance would have cost an extra $2-3k here in SoCal - if we could have even found such a nice one in cream/chocolate which was very important to us. Once I signed paperwork for the sale, both the salesman and the loan officer would not follow through with their word. I was promised a full detail of the truck I purchased, but all they would do is clean a stain on one seat. The truck was filthy. I received only one key fob and was told that was normal. Now I'm on my own to pay for a full detail and a 2nd $400 key fob. I can't even program the door code without two fobs. Don't walk, run! read more

So let me start by sharing with you how disappointed I am with Velocity Auto Sales. For now lets just say I bought a truck that I thought was a one owner, low millage, accident free vehicle and turns out to be something else even though that is what The Car Fax said that it was. After bringing the dealership up to speed on my findings all I wanted was a small $3500.00 refund on a $45,000.00 purchase and they refused my request. I wasn't mad, I wasn't screaming, I didn't even raise my voice. In fact I will tell you right now that the transaction was great and the service I received from the sales person was awesome. If I didn't find all the damage and the vehicles history I would have written this place a FIVE star review on both Yelp and Google. At the end of the day I take full responsibility that I'm a grown adult and that I did not buy this vehicle under duress. The only problem I have with Velocity Auto Sales is that they sold me a vehicle that they advertised as a low milage, one owner, accident free vehicle because again, that is what The Car Fax said it was and technically it is not the truth. Yes, it had one registered owner but the truth is that the vehicle was repossessed and then the truck bounced around California, Arizona and Utah changing hands with I think 6 or 7 different auction houses and used car dealerships before arriving at Velocity Auto Sales. So what is wrong with the truck? After I found over a dozen missing clips and plastic pieces in the bed and fender well area I finally visited a body shop. The first body shop showed me how the vehicle has been repainted. That led me to visiting a total 3 body shops and guess what, it turns out that this truck has possibly been in an accident. What type of accident I don't know but they found fresh paint on the rear door rubber seal and also on the front passenger head light. Plus we found tape between the bed and the cab where the vehicle was painted and that area was not ever sanded and or polished. The driver side was nice and smooth and the passenger side was taped off, rough and absolutely not smooth like the other side. One body shop employee said that the truck was recently painted, who knows what his level of knowledge is but it makes you start thinking. The really nice sales person that works for Velocity Auto Sales told me that one of the managers actually personally drove the truck as a company car for several months. Maybe he had to get the car fixed and repaired quietly so that no one would know that the car was damaged. The truth is that we will never know what really happen. By the way, Velocity Auto Sales did give me a $1400.00 reimbursement check to pay for some of the damages that I found. Unfortunately to get my new truck cleaned up and fixed up properly I will no longer have a clean Car Fax Report. So in the end, again I paid for a truck that is not what they said it was. The owners and managers obviously do not care about the bad reviews that they receive because stupid people like myself continue to do business with even though we read the bad reviews prior to buying. It is 100% my fault for doing business with a dealership that has such a bad reputation, read the review people! If your on the fence to buy a car from Velocity Auto Sales I would highly recommend that you do a little research prior to writing that check. With that being said, please understand that my goal today with this review is to simply share my situation with as many people in the Utah area as possible so that what happen to me doesn't happen to anyone else. Called a couple days later to get a purchase agreement and they had no one there to help and finally got a hold of them to have them say they got us approved after we called and said they messed up. My experience with Velocity auto sales was nothing short of exceptional. My sales person Waldo was incredible. I never had to worry "where Waldo was", as he was always on top of communication! This was a long distance purchase from the West Coast, and I could not have felt more well cared for by Waldo and the team at Velocity. I had a lot of questions...and I had never made a purchase of this magnitude sight unseen. The vehicle arrived quickly and exactly as described. Waldo's associate Marco (who I believe is a manager) also communicated effectively on some of the more complex issues. Whatever time of day or night I would email or call, these guys gave their personal numbers and always responded promptly. Bottom line, I am over the moon with my new truck and it is better than described. I recommend these gents highly. I would also add that Jo who manages all of the paperwork and titles and taxes and transfers is nothing short of fantastic. Folks like Jo are the ones that make these long distance experiences a real "feel good". She really did a great job, overnighted everything promptly and was super likable to boot. DO NOT buy from them. They are a huge scam! They sold me a 2015 Hyundai Elantra who's Engine gave out in NO time & the manager was super rude. Never resolved it, was out of the warranty time frame, and their customer service was atrocious to say the least. Their warranty is useless and they word things a certain way to lead you to believe you'll be completely fine if the car breaks down. 45 days warranty they repeat over and over but they don't specify the type of warranty. It's mechanical & you'll still be short a car when your car breaks down. Against my better judgement my husband wanted to give them another try YEARS later. Sold me another vehicle that is already having issues a week after purchasing. Have talked to Sales and Service and they are completely unhelpful, rude, and condescending. After they sell you the car, good luck getting any answers from them. Their warranty is useless. Do not trust anything they guarantee or offer when purchasing the car. They don't do returns. We did not end up buying a car here, since they didn't have the make and model/year we were after. But we did test drive one, so we had a glimpse into what it would be like to do business with these guys. Upon entering the office, it took a minute or two to be greeted, although it was not busy and the attendants did not seem to be attending to anything else. When we let them know which vehicle we were interested in, one of the sales reps asked for our ID and license, scanned/copied them and got us the keys. There was very little interaction (which is not necessarily a bad thing-pushy sales people are no fun). We took the car for a drive by ourselves, which felt odd. At other dealerships, we were always accompanied when test driving a car. The car we were looking at felt like the alignment was off and was rather bumpy as we drove. We took it back and gave them this feedback, which was dismissed pretty quickly. I asked for a business card from the gentleman that helped us, in case we wanted to follow up on any other cars they got in stock, but he didn't have one. If you know what you want and don't need much assistance, this may be a good option. There is virtually no pressure, but also not much help. So depending on what you're looking for, that may be right up your alley. In the end, we went with another dealer that had the vehicle in stock that we wanted. read more

Although I didn't find a vehicle that I liked here, the sales guys are pretty laid back and let you take the wheel for test drives. There's no pushy pitches or following involved, which is nice. There's a variety of vehicles to choose from and test drive and it did help me narrow down which car I liked and didn't. Here's the deal. My family has bought multiple cars from Velocity. We've never had a problem with a single one of them. They all ran great with proper maintenance. The other thing that I find interesting is how much people hate how relaxed they are here. I've seen plenty of old school car buying tropes with other dealerships. The "I have to speak with my manager" 17 times before we can get a deal done. I can't stand that. Velocity gives a fair price for their cars. They're not the cheapest but I'll take a reliable vehicle at a higher cost than a dumpy car that runs for a year at $1000 less upfront. They also don't drive in the car with you on your test drive which is awesome. I've always hated a salesman that just talks the entire drive rather than listening for any weird noises or just enjoying the drive. The other thing to address is the culture there. Many folks don't like the "bro" atmosphere there. All I gotta say about that is, when have you not met a car salesman with a little bit of douchiness to them? Honestly! Think about it. It's a great place to buy from. Give em a chance. Please don't get their warranty though. It seems like it covers a bunch of items on the car but it's a 3rd party that tries to find reasons to not cover anything under warranty. Other than that, they're great to buy from! read more

Loved the ease of sale here!!! I JUST moved from overseas and needed a car to start my new job in 5 days. I am stressed to the max with moving, buying a house, starting a new job, and just wanted a low stress experience in buying a car. I looked on KSL Classifieds and found Velocity had a huge selection at very low prices. They even had my dream car for $2000 under Kelly Bluebook. This raised a flag in my head so I looked into their business strategy and found they are just up front about the cost as a wholesale car company. They buy cars from all over the US and ensure they are clean to sell. Velocity has a super competitive warranty they offer which more than makes up for any hesitation you might have. I saw the car I wanted online and came in confident that even if I didn't get THAT one, they had several other great options. I walked in at opening @ 9am and met Scott. We talked for 2 seconds and I asked to see the car I wanted. He got it, let me drive it around, and after 5 minutes on the road I knew it would work. I went back, walked through the finance process and had my car. It took a total of 2 hours for the entire process and wasn't pressured once about anything. There are people that aren't happy with the fees and after looking through all the numbers I see this is just Velocity being transparent with the fees. They sell at near wholesale price and lay out the fees when you sign. Other dealerships roll the fees into the price. Really there were only two fees they added that most people don't expect, but even with those it was still a better deal than most private sellers. And it was so much less stressful. I just wanted to give an honest review of my experience after reading everything here. I will update it if any after-sale actions happen. But I'm happy with my car, the warranty, the rates they got me, and how relieved I am about the ease of purchase. read more

I've driven by this dealership several times and am always impressed with their inventory. Because of that fact, when my mom's car recently broke down, I referred her here to find a new car. She arrived at the dealership looking for a Toyota Prius, which they rarely, if ever, have at their lot. To her surprise they had just gotten one in stock and she was ecstatic. It didn't take long for her to decide that it was exactly the car she wanted to buy. My mom went to the dealership pre-approved for her loan and only needed to sign and drive off the lot. Or so she thought... My mom went into the finance office and was going over the final numbers when she was told that she had to pay $299 for a "theft recovery registry": this was not an option, but a requirement for them. I received a text from my mom asking if this theft registration was required. Having extensive experience working at a used car dealership in the past I know for a fact that it is indeed NOT required to have and that she could decline that option. She then confronted the finance guy (Josh) and told him that she did not want to pay $299 for something she didn't want. His response to that was, "tell your son to not tell me how to run my business and I won't tell him how to run his." My mom was incredibly underwhelmed with his reaction and with how snappy Josh became that she left the dealership without purchasing the vehicle. The vehicle she was looking at had been in a couple of previous accidents, but was priced very fairly accordingly. Unfortunately, because of the good price for the car, I still told her she should probably pull the trigger and buy the car and I would look into the $299 theft registration at a later time. She called the dealership and told them she was going to buy the car and that she was going to go to her credit union to sign the loan paperwork and bring them a check. The dealership told her that she needed to go there to sign the loan paperwork so that they could get a kick back from the bank for doing the loan there. The bottom line.... This dealership has their vehicles priced fairly and my mom was satisfied with the salesperson whom she worked with. The disappointment comes from the finance team at the dealership! IF YOU DECIDE TO BUY A CAR HERE KNOW THAT THE $299 THEFT REGISTRY IS OPTIONAL!!!!!!! They charge an outrageous $399 for a dealer documentary fee, and ask that you do way more than just pay their asking price for the car. The two stars I give this dealership is for the vehicle my mom got and for the salesperson she worked with. I'm extremely disappointed with the finance team though! Don't give them the satisfaction of buying warranties, GAP insurance, or the theft registration. Do yourself a favor and purchase all of those items directly from your lender if you choose to do so! read more

Know before you go. Dealer doc fee is $698. The state average is $293. More than twice the average. Their car prices seem fair but you need to add this to the price of every car you see online. Tax, title and licensing I understand. But doc fees are not required by law. The state does not regulate this and they can charge what they want. I chose not to buy because I will not pay $698 for someone to do paperwork and store it for ten years. Dealers are nice. Not to pushy either. Pros: Excellent prices on used car and a hefty inventory. Sales men are super helpful and attentive. I loved the no haggling system they have, way less stressful. Cons: It seems like they don't care about you after you buy the car (shocking, I know). My car battery died 2 months after I bought the car. I called to ask if this was something they were going to replace or if I had to purchase a new one. The gentleman over the phone told me to come in and speak with his mechanic. I thanked him, asked for his name, and he asked me why I needed his name ... and then argued with me over why he didn't need to give me his name and hanged up on me. I called back, demanded to speak with a manager or supervisor to explained my frustration over someone not wanting to give me their name, just so I can have it on record, and being hanged up on. The first thing that manager said "Well he gave you the name of the mechanic ...". I had to explain to the MANAGER that it wasn't the name of the mechanic I wanted, I wanted the name of the person that gave me the name of the mechanic. I also had to explain to him how it appeared he was defending his sales associate horrible customer service because not once did he apologize, instead defend his associates actions bad actions. It wasn't until I explained this to him that he started to understand where I was coming from. He went to tell me who my original sales man was, and how they want their clients to work with their original sales man. Which is all fine and dandy if they opened up that way, instead of being jerks, blatantly arguing with me, then hanging up on me. At this point, I was arguing with the manager about how he supported such horrible behavior from his sales team. I wanted to speak with the mechanic they had working on the weekend, and MAN they did not want me to speak with him, they just wanted me to come in ... They said since the service desk is closed on the weekend, they can't call to ask ... I asked if he could just text him or page him to call me, which he said not really since he only speaks Spanish ... which I responded with I speak Spanish. After that string of excuses to not get me not to speak with the mechanic, I finally got a hold of the mechanic. The mechanic was the nicest guy. After an hour on the phone, with the sale associate, then manager, and the mechanic, I still have to buy a battery. Which is ok, it just shouldn't take me an hour to find out if I had to buy a battery or if they'll replace it for me. Should of been an easy thing to find out. TL;DR Great place to buy a car and affordable prices, rude sales team after they got you out of their lot with one of their cars. Don't expect a long term relationship/support with these guys. read more

They start you off by giving you good non-pushy service but then when you get to their financial guy he will rush you into signing without explaining all the fees that you're being charged without knowing it. It was my first time buying and they took advantage of that by throwing in a $2,000 service contract that I'll never use. So far, surprisingly good. Let me start with after the sale. Afterwards I noticed some damage to the tint on the window, I expected them to come up with an excuse why that would be my responsibility to fix, but they referred me to a company to replace the tint, and they covered the cost. (I got the warranty they sell, as well as the interior coverage) I also came back in for some minor stains, and they took care of cleaning those. I bought a 14 Camry Hybrid, I had read the reviews before going in, so the "299 theft" fee didn't take me by surprise. I was not able to get them to budge on price, they say they are a no-haggle dealership. But for me the price was ok, so I just went with it. Ryan came and picked me up at the FrontRunner station, that was nice, as we live an hour away, and I didn't want to make my wife come drop me off. Check out process was fine, took about an hour or so to get the keys, and get out the door. I was already planning on buying a warranty, so I didn't need to be pressured into it. Their price beat the price I was quoted for Toyota Platinum Care, so I went with it. (haven't had a major claim yet, so fingers crossed.) PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING HERE -This dealership will etch the VIN onto the auto glass as soon as it comes into its inventory. If a consumer objects to the charge, they will say that they already did the work and the charge has to be included. Don't fall for it! The cost to the dealership to perform this "service" is minimal, and a good dealership will agree to drop the charge. If a dealership insists upon including the charge, then a consumer should consider walking away from the deal. Why do business with a company that would engage in shady practices like that? -They will charge up to $300 for this service, and this is only told to the customer when finalizing the sale, and give you the consumer no option to opt out of this service, when you can buy a kit to do it yourself for around $20 on Amazon. -There are many websites that describe this practice, just look it up for yourself. -Also note, the employees spend a lot more time watching TV then watching for customers read more

I went there looking for a Toyota Rav4 and I was pleased to see that they had 4 or 5 late year models with low miles and competitive pricing. I test drove a Rav4, liked it, then tried to trade in my vehicle. This is where my experience started to deteriorate. The in-house mechanic found several non-existent problems with my vehicle (all of which did not exist -- which was subsequently confirmed by my own mechanic). The finance manager / sales manager (Cory?) then gave me a ridiculously low offer for my vehicle. I walked away from the deal. One more thing... Buyer beware! I'm not sure if it was bad luck or if this is intentional by Velocity, but, each of the 4 or 5 Rav4s that was in stock at Velocity had two things in common -- all were purchased at auction originating from the East Coast (mostly New York), and every one of them had been in a wreck (but still had clean titles). Confirmed by Auto Check. Makes me wonder if these cars were the cheap left-overs at auction that no one else wanted. Don't rely on Carfax alone, be sure to purchase an Auto Check report. Soooo worth the extra few bucks. read more

My significant other and I purchased a car on 03/18/15. We have been around the greater Salt Lake area looking for "the perfect car for the perfect price" for nearly a month. I was initially very skeptical of Velocity, the prices seemed too good to be true and the reviews were too positive, almost like they were created by shills. However, after visiting and purchasing a car I completely understand why. This dealership is on top of the game and they deserve the positive reviews. Velocity provided an exceptional low pressure sales environment. Most of the cars we tested were very clean and mechanically sound. Some were clearly in better shape than others, everything was appropriately priced for condition. Our sales agent (Josh) was very knowledgeable about the vehicle inventory and helped us find the car we wanted in our price range. At one point he grabbed all the keys and we looked closely at every Camry on the lot, He made sure we felt comfortable with our purchase and was able to answer our questions. The car we purchased was below book, fairly priced for condition, no need to haggle. When we closed the deal with Cory (great guy, very nice) The car history I verified matched the history presented and there was no funny business with the numbers. The warranty offering was reasonably priced, well presented and not forced upon us. Just a clean quick sell. They explained to me that the prices are low because they want to be a high volume dealer and everything is priced to sell quickly with no hassle. A lot of the inventory is from auctions and lease returns, they only stock cars they expect to sale quickly. I will consider Velocity first in future car purchases and quickly recommend to anyone looking for a good car. A true five star experience. P.S. After closing the deal, If we were willing to wait they would detail the car. I saw a truck I was interested in on July 3rd on velocity's website. I called and spoke to a salesman advising him that I would like to come see the truck, but that I was coming from far away. The salesman assured me the truck was there, not sold, and that he would have it cleaned and ready at 630 pm and told me to speak with Mitch. I arrived at 6:20 pm and did not see the truck anywhere. I spoke with a salesman since Mitch was "busy". The salesman told me the manager had taken the truck to tow his boat for the weekend. I was appalled I had driven all that way only to find out the truck was being driven by the manager for the weekend. No one called me to tell me and they didn't really seem to care how irritated I was. The salesman actually had the nerve to ask if I wanted to look at another truck. Not only will I never buy anything from this place, but neither will anyone I know. Awful customer service and even worse personal skills. read more
