I've had experience with this company before, but the experience at this location stood out in a very positive way. Despite how busy the team was, the manager immediately acknowledged me upon arrival and took the time to communicate professionally and respectfully. I believe the day manager's name was Jack, and his level of professionalism and attentiveness truly made an impression. Exceptional customer service is rare, and in my opinion, it is just as important -- if not more important -- than the service itself. I don't write reviews at all, but the folks at the Shell station deserve all the effort and commitment it takes and MORE!!! They have won me over simply because of their never-failing friendliness and willingness to help with anything that caused me to be there. Their treatment of all customers(I watch very carefully and am very aware of how they help people) is genuine, disarming and 100% consistent. How this gas station finds and trains people to be the great employees they are is beyond my understanding, but hopefully is appreciated by their employer! The folks that I have seen most are Rose Mary on the evening shift and Michael, Christina and Veronica on the day shift. Hats off to these employees and GREAT people. What is weirder than a person reading gas station reviews? Being a person who actually writes them!!! Hello fellow weird people! We are a different sort of breed. We need to know if there is an adequate selection of energy drinks! We MUST know if the coffee machine is the cool kind that grinds fresh beans! It is imperative that we are warned of sticky gas nozzles! No sticky nozzles here and while I failed you because I don't have the coffee info for you, I do know that the selections inside the store are adequate. Basically this station is clean and has a good amount of space to be able to get in and out. Heh... come to think of it...this location is super close to an In and Out. Gas is gas but when the Costco Station has a long ass line, I have no problem with filling up here. The car wash is decent too just have to wipe down the water that the dryer doesn't get rid of but if you don't mind spots on your windows then it isn't a problem. Service is always quick and the pumps don't need replacing like other stations in the neighborhood. read more

Shell gas stations in San Diego have rewards program including Ralph's rewards. You can use them directly on pump or inside with cashier. But for some reason (???) cashiers systematically shuts down rewards screens when you checking in so that you miss possibility to use rewards. It's made on purpose since it was twice done for me. On my question "why you hide rewards screen from me" cashier (old Asian lady) just said "sorry". read more

I went inside to ask for a refund and both times they refused to give me a refund. The second time I was told they don't have anything to do with the car wash. The last few times I've come here, the station employee has been outside smoking. That literally used to be a joke when I was a kid, ("I'm like a smoker at a gas station... the current night attendant, a short, blonde caucasian lady probably in her late 50s is constantly acting erratically like she's on something. she's always mumbling to herself and takes forger to use the register. she also gives attitude when you try to go in while she's smoking outside. she's also has trouble counting the proper change. doesn't the register do that for you? i would not be shocked if she steals from the register. every other cashier is cool though. read more

I don't write a lot of five star reviews so you know that when I do for a gas station, it must be pretty darn good. I've been going here for almost a year since I moved closer to my job. All of the cashiers have been there since I began going. Eddie, who I believe is the store manager, is always accommodating; he'll make coffee immediately if it's out, give you a free car wash if something doesn't go right, etc. Speaking of car wash, I find that this location in particular washes cars the best. The other one down the street is much older and doesn't work as well. Also, speaking of the other Shell down the street, next to B of A, its store is a fraction of the size of this Shell. This Shell, which is located directly next to Panera Bread is large and loaded with lots of snacks, drinks, and car accessories to purchase. It also has a vacuum and air feature; I've done a thorough cleaning of my car several times here. Downfalls (which gas station doesn't have one?): -There can be lines at this particular station during the day, usually at lunch hour or after work. -Sometimes the entire station will be cut off from usage due to being serviced. -Twice the car wash didn't work. However, this was rectified-see above. All in all, there are three gas stations in the neighborhood and I consider this one to be the best. In fact, it's one of the best in San Diego because the service is always fantastic and the prices are reasonable. As reasonable as they can be living in SD. read more

I have been coming to this shell for years now and I always get my car wash here. Sometimes they give me the little card with star punches on it and sometimes they don't have the card and they tell me to keep the receipt. I walked in today with a few of my receipts and my card that one of the cashiers gave me last time and the girl at the front desk which was EXTREMELY RUDE accused me of me being dishonest about my car wash count. Not only she was rude she embarrassed me and accused me of lie. It is not my problem that they don't have a good system about keeping track of those car wash. Do not use their car wash!! This was the worst car wash I have ever had, and I totally wasted $9. The entire car didn't even get wet! In the back of the car, a strip about 4 feet wide is still covered in road dust and did not even get moist at any time during the VERY short wash. Looks horrendous. Total waste. read more

I try to avoid this gas station because there are always lots of trucks obstructing the entrance and the traffic. As is located in the Carmel Mountain mall, the closest one to Costco, it has a lot of transit and if you go during peak hours, you will be waiting more than usual. It is just nearby a Valvoline station, so it is very convenient if you need some service done + add gas next to it. read more

Cheapest, if not tied for cheapest, gas station around where I live. Never a line when I go (11 am - 1 pm). Pumps work great almost all of the time (I HATE those pumps that you have to pull the trigger to fill and they 'click' and stop after 5 seconds for some reason and then you have to HOLD the dang trigger for the entire 3-4 minutes and it starts hurting your hand. I swear this happens at over 50% of gas stations I visit and it is annoying as ALL heck!). Today the pump stopped again a couple times for the first time but at least with this pump you don't have to pull hard to maintain the trigger. It has something like power steering built into the trigger so even when it stopped I just re-clasped it fairly easily. Sold on this Shell and will be giving it all my business unless they mess with the pump triggers or the price. read more

Avoid this place. I am sick and tired of franchise owners who are too cheap to maintain their businesses properly. The drive-thru car wash not functioning properly - it washes but drying equipment is not functioning after you have paid - is a good example. And at the register they have the audacity to say, "yeah sometimes it breaks down." And give you a ticket for a free wash? Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't work apparently. And it's a mystery but it eventually works again on its own I was informing them that the car wash was broken. But they are not going to take any action to correct that. "It happens sometimes." This owner doesn't want the business with Costco gas across the street selling for $.30 and less? They just lost a customer. It's not as much about the faulty equipment as it is the attitude: "Yeah, it happens sometimes." So they don't need to inform anyone that their equipment is malfunctioning because...? It's going to fix itself? They're just going to wait until it starts working again and in the meantime let all of the cars drive through with half a wash? read more

I went in to the attendant for a refund and was told they couldn't do anything about it. I was so upset that I am going to avoid all Shell stations in the future.
