The best times to fill up are early morning (before the warehouse opens) and in the evening. Great value -- prices per gallon are the lowest in the area. I have to say I got lucky coming to this location at the time I did because I was somehow able to get all the way into the gas parking lot area and not be waiting down the street when I arrived. I was hesitant because I know it can be busy during the afternoon but I was able to get in and out of there within like 10 or 15 minutes. The guys that is assisting there is actually really helpful someone honked at me thinking I didn't pull forward but there was a car in front of me so he went and told him. Best prices for gasoline. Line moves quickly. Pump island on far left has only 2 pumps, whereas, the other two has 3 pumps available. I also use the Costco app to flash the QR code at the pump and use my preferred payment that's setup on the app for a drive in-pump-drive out transaction. So CONVENIENT!!! The employees are always great here, very nice and around when anyone needs help. Traffic getting in and out can be pretty bad. Over the years Costco has done their best to aliviate it but it stills gets back up, people still cut in, and it can be hard to get out once you are finished getting gas. Price wise per gallon is comparable to some other gas stations much further away. Usually priced the best in Carmel Mt. Ranch for sure. We have found the best time to go is early in the morning, around 7am or later in the event before they close. A lot less crowded for sure. read more

The workers and facilities here are great, but the pricing policies are shady. Gas at the Carmel Mountain location used to cost around 10 cents per gallon more on average than other nearby Costco locations. Over the last 6 months or so, the difference has been growing out of control. A few days ago, prices were 33 cents higher than the nearest location. Today, gas here costs a whopping 40 cents more, and is the most expensive Costco price by far in the San Diego region. Maybe there's a logical explanation for this, but it's getting ridiculous. No, I can not stand this Costco gas station, the way it got designed, who in their right mind to make it possible, I couldn't drive around the parking lot and get there, because noone is willing to let the other car from their opposite side to pass, creating this whole traffic, then they only barricaded a portion of the parking lot, so people could still drive and cut in front of others who came from the main line from the street to get to the entrance of the gas station. Then from the street, they have 3 ways left right and middle to get to one entrance plus the others that I just mentioned above, nobody won in this game, except Costco, and the price was not the cheapest either, I went to Chula Vista Costco yesterday and it's $ 4.009 per gallon, guess how much it costs here. Yeah, so why people still come here, maybe it's convenient for them, not me not in a million years, unless I don't have a choice and ran out of gas, then I might. read more

I came the other day just before they closed and that seems to be the best time to come. The lines were shorter than your average Costco gas station. I only had one car to wait behind before I was at a pump. The whole process was quick and easy. This Costco Gas is conveniently located right across the street from Scripps Rancho Bernardo and is close to lots of shopping. Although the lines are almost always quite long, they do move fairly quickly. I like that there seems to be a bit more room for cars between pumps (more than at the Temecula location where I usually fill up), so that you can more easily maneuver through. I've been several Costco gas stations and this is probably the worst one I've been to. Even the busy mission valley location is still better than this one. I've stopped here during the weekday and weekend it is always busy. Also the drivers in this parking lot seem to be more rude. I got cut off 3 times trying to get into the line. Unless I'm in the area or really need gas I won't come back to this location. I'll go to Poway I've never had issues at the location at all. read more

Costco gas is the most affordable gas. As long as you have a Costco membership, you're good to go. It is the most economical to fill up here if you can, especially before a long drive. When it's busy (weekends, in the evenings), the lines of cars easily continue onto the street, blocking traffic, fyi. So I would recommend coming during off hours. I also find this location to be quite safe and clean, which is another reason I like to come here. Gas station opens many hours BEFORE Costco store and that's often when lines are very short or none at all. It's Costco gas... fairly good prices all year long. Isn't necessarily the least expensive, but definitely not the most expensive in town. Closer to least if anything. The lines can be challenging, especially since they are allowing cars from all directions from the parking lot enter the fuel line. Before you could only enter the fuel line from one direction as the lanes in the parking lot were blocked off with cones. They've stopped enforcing that the past couple times I've been through here, so somewhat annoying when cars enter from the other side and essentially cut in front of everyone whose been in line already. The management does not care that people cut in line. I almost saw a serious fight and another customer threatened to shoot someone for cutting. The line situation is so outta control I'd rather pay $2 more at Shell. The problem could be fixed so easily especially since they make millions every day. What would we do with out Costco gas, there are many pumps and the average price is around .30 cents cheaper. I personally love being a member of Costco, you may wait a few moments but to me it's worth the savings. The gas station to me is safe and clean. Always good gas prices. The lines can vary in length on day and time. But well worth the wait. I've seen 20-30 min before closing it's usually shorter. Expect longer waits between 3pm and 6pm. The driveways to get into the plaza are low car friendly, so getting to this gas station is easy. It's in the same plaza as Islands, Panda Express and claim jumper. I had to post a differing opinion after reading another reviewer saying this one is worse than mission valley. That's completely inaccurate. Yes this one is not big enough, it's always way overcrowded, but it's nothing like mission valley! Mission valley has that awkward entrance and exit that literally induces panic attacks. Worst experience lining up for gas of any Costco I have been too. Another yelp review mentioned poorly planned. People cut you off and act like you don't exist often when going in here. I went to go into the usual line and someone couldn't back up because I was there and cars were not letting me normally merge in after I had been parked at the tire center. So the only way forward was to head towards Costco and turn left to merge in where many people have gone in front of me even with a sign that says not an entrance. A man with a beard stops me. Now I actually thought this is a way to go in and he's saying I am cutting people off which I have let many people merge in there as some people are just coming that way even from just being parked shopping. You would think they would find a better way to fix all of this? I told him how no one would let me in and maybe you should send people over there then to help & he basically accused me of lying and that I was just cutting in there too which I was not. I felt offended! No one probably cares though it is stressful to go there & you would have hoped Costco employees would be nicer than that! read more

The entrance to the gas station is a little annoying and someone did try to cut in from the parking lot. But the attendant came out and told her she needed to get out of line and that she couldn't cut, and she left. So although the entrance is bad they are making sure people are not getting cut in line. Go mid afternoon on a Thursday and there is no line. Works on Wednesday's too for the most part. The only downside when it's busy is that there is almost always a few people that intentionally drive around the back of the parking lot to cut in line.
