One of our daughters had always wanted a grand piano. She had a Yamaha Clavinovo that we had…read morepurchased many years ago. I had always told her if she stuck with it that one day we would buy her the grand piano she had always wanted. She had forgotten all about it, but we never did. I called the store and talked to a consultant by the name of Allen. A 50-minute conversation followed, and he took the time to answer all questions that I had about pianos, their store, and other things. We called our daughter and ask if she had any plans for the coming Saturday that we had a surprise for her. We went to the store and met Allen, and they discussed what she was looking for in a piano. We spent about 5 hours looking at what they had new and used in the store. Allen took the time to answer any questions told use the key points of each piano we looked at compared to the other ones we had played and looked at. He showed us the repair department so we could get an in-depth knowledge of why one brand cost more than the other due to its construction etc. We never ever felt pressured into making a choice that day. He said this is an important decision, and you want to feel you have made the right choice. We scheduled another visit the following week and spent about another 5 hours playing and looking at what they had in the showroom. She finally made a decision, and I would say that phone time and site visit we spent close to 16 to 20 hours of his time. Never once was he pushy or in any way not helpful. He offered so many suggestions along the way and made it such a pleasure to work with a true professional something that is lacking in many businesses today. After the sale he called and made sure that we had the delivery set up on our schedule and to check to see if there was anything else that he could do for us. I've been taking amps and pedal boards to Uncle Albert's since 2007. My brand new Fender Twin…read morearrived damaged, he fixed it under warranty, no charge. I turned my Marshall TSL up to 10 one night and literally burned it up (dimmed all the lights in the house, heard a pop, no sound, then smelled smoke). He had to clean up the board inside due to carbon deposits, replaced a power transformer, soldered in a number of capacitors, etc. and re-tubed it. He charged me about the same as if I bought the parts and did it myself. He fixed a couple of Vox Tonelab effects pedals for me. The last repair (12/2025) was on my Marshall JVM 410H that had a lot of noise. The tubes were fine, so he had to go over every component, every circuit, to eventually find it to be a $3 capacitor. What he charged me was way under what his time was worth, it plays beautifully now. He even texted me this morning to make sure the amp played well last night. Kevin doesn't just fix the problem, he goes over the entire amp, cleans all the electronics, even wraps up the freeking cord like it came new. I won't take my amps anywhere else.

As mentioned, the owner's a little quirky. I think he means well, but doesn't know as much about guitars as he'd like. And he gets pretty defensive if he's not the one in the know on something. That's not the end of the world. But it's an odd experience in an exclusively USED instrument store. Because those of us who have been playing and collecting for decades are going to come in and occasionally have a little more knowledge on something obscure they've got in, etc. If someone with gray hair who knows how to disassemble and review an instrument comes in, it behooves you to trust that he understands it. They stand by their own intake inspection to a fault. If you find something they missed on their intake inspection--even if it's glaring like the guitar doesn't make sound when plugged in--then you've got an uphill battle to prove your case even if you haven't left the store with the instrument yet. If you're looking for a deal on something generic, I think this place will get you through alright. If you're collecting, then this place is probably going to weird you out a little.
