This was my first visit to the Carmel Salt caves and had the best experience. There's a cute gift shop up front. There are two different caves and we went to the Tranquility Cave upstairs. They provide lockers for you. The owner was super friendly as well. There's the sound of ocean waves that plays. I had such a nice time and will be back. The experience is an hour. They also have foot detox services, but I haven't tried that yet. read more

If you ever can't find me, go look for me at Carmel Salt Caves and Spa. You'll see me relaxing in an electromagnetic chair, breathing in salt particles and napping. Because what a relaxing experience! I have discovered that one of my favorite ways to relax and reset is to sit in a dark cave, surrounded by tons of Himalayan salt. It's called halotherapy, if you want to be fancy, and it's also called "salt cave" if you want to be less fancy. A few years ago, when I visited a salt cave for my first time, I fell asleep during my session. Do you know how difficult it is for me to nap? Let alone nap in a salt cave?! I knew I had found something special after that session. This time, I did not fall asleep, but I luxuriated in that comfortable in-between twilight stage of being awake and being asleep. I probably could have fallen asleep, but I wanted to be awake to enjoy every second of my salt cave experience this time. There are two different salt caves. They don't mention the sizes of the caves on the website, so I'll mention it here! The Harmony Cave is located downstairs and is the biggest salt cave. This one can hold several people. The upstairs cave is the Tranquility Cave, and it is smaller, although I haven't seen it myself. Keep in mind that, unless you book a private session, if someone books at the same time that you do, you might be in a salt cave with other people that you don't know. That wasn't the case for me, though. The cave is so peaceful and dark! There are chairs with electromagnetic fields pulsating out of them, and blankets that you can use to be snuggly and ultra cozy. The chairs recline, so you can lie completely down or elevate yourself to whatever degree you're comfortable. Sessions are one hour, and that hour goes by very fast! The spa itself is impeccably cute. There's a gift shop as soon as you enter, with lots of things like salt stones, lip balm, candles, jewelry and many other things. The whole place is spotless and inviting, and the perfect place to visit when you want to relax. read more

What a wonderful way to celebrate my mom's birthday! I took her here as a surprise and the spa sid not disappoint. I scheduled us the foot detox session. It was very interesting to learn how the process was done. Nevaeh walked us through everything and made sure all of our needs were met! When we checked in, the host allowed us to test out the vibration plate while we waited, Which was a perfect use of waiting time. Right as the plate timer ended, our seats for the foot bath was ready. They have lot of keepsake and items for gift giving at a reasonable price. They also had an outdoor seating space near the parking lot. The establishment was clean and smelled amazing. I am looking forward to going back. read more

What a fun activity to do with my friend while she was in town! I highly recommend making some reservations here for a fun group outing. You can choose a from relaxing in the salt cave or detoxing with a foot soak, and both are only $45 per session!! We made reservations for the foot soak about a week prior to the Sunday we chose with no issues. They were ready for us upon arrival, and the staff greeted us and was very thorough in explaining the soak process to us. I think there are 2 private rooms for the foot soaks, and there were maybe 5 chairs in the room we were in. They played some cute holiday music for us, but offered to let us use Bluetooth to hook onto their speaker and play our own personal playlist. Judgment free zone! The staff member was very patient with us and explained the whole process before beginning our soaks. The infrared lights were probably my favorite part. They were so warm and cozy. The little wands are adjustable so you can move them wherever you like around your face. I do have to mention that we were trying to lie back and get comfortable, and we struggled a bit as the chairs did not have head rests. I think the soak took about 20 or 30 minutes, and our necks started to get a little sore from the lack of support. If you scooch down far enough in the chair, you can rest your head on the back of the seat, but then your lower back starts to hurt. Apparently, another staff member was supposed to come in halfway during our soaks to add more hot water to our bowls, but she did not. We were fine though. Yes, more hot water would have been nice, but we lived. At the end of it, all, the water is disgusting regardless of the temperature. The girls will drain your bowl, check the contents, and explain to you the likely reasons for what is in there. So gross, but a very fun experience. We laughed the whole time. Apparently, pulling the toxins is not so much for detoxing as it is to help you understand what's going on inside your body. We received helpful feedback about dietary changes that could honestly benefit anyone. It was nice that the girls didn't act like sales people like some spas do when they try to get you to come back excessively and unnecessarily. They give it to you straight and explain how to use the tools they offer, they were also nice enough to offer us a tour of their whole facility so we could see the salt caves, but they had other customers and we didn't want to take up their time. For $45 though, we'll definitely be back to check out the salt caves. Oh, and the storefront has adorable little items to shop for ranging from healthcare items to jewelry to kitchen utensils. My friends and I visited today to celebrate a friend's birthday and it was an absolutely lovely experience. The cave was so relaxing. I immediately felt like I could breathe deeply and just let go. I wanted to stay for hours. After the cave experience we did the foot detox and that was great as well. We loved the music playing while we were in there. It felt like a little party. My friend and I had foot detox at Carmel Salt Caves. We thought we were going for a "hoot". Boy were we wrong. This is a first class business in a welcoming yellow house. The minute I walked in I knew I was in a real spa. We were greeted immediately, had to fill out paperwork and then were escorted to a spa room. The therapist explained what was going to happen and placed our feet in clean clear water. She said we would be that way for 30 minutes and she would return. There was a cascade of red lights above us and of course, relaxing music. She left us with "spun" water that was to be the purest water you could drink. Within 10 minutes our water was changing color. (Kind of creepy, but that is why we were there). After 30 minutes the therapist returned and explained the colors. The real thing was when she emptied the bowl there was like sand at the bottom and she could tell the toxins that had been removed. Amazingly she was right on with each of us. Totally different sands for each of us. She said because we did this we would have a great nights sleep. She was correct we both talked the next day and felt great While paying we were browsing the boutique shop and the owner stopped by to ask about our experience. Of course we were pleased She told us more about the salt cave and explained she has a medical degree. That is why she feels so strongly about the other services she offers. Will we go back? I've visited the Caramel Salt Caves and Spa a few times now and it always ends up being such a relaxing day. My family loves going together and it has become one of our favorite places to unwind. The salt cave is incredibly calming and I always feel better afterward, especially with the sinus issues I had recently. We added the red light when we did the foot detox and it made the whole treatment even more enjoyable. I left feeling refreshed and relaxed. We'll definitely keep coming back. I chose a foot detox because I'd been suffering with ankle pain and this really did help. I left off one star in my review because I arrived early for my appointment as directed and came upon an empty lobby. In the meantime, a large group straggled in for the salt cave and were escorted into their session first. Another person exited her treatment and checked out while I continued to wait. It was explained very nicely and with apologies but my service started 15 minutes late. The foot spa attendant was so nice and very informative "reading" the gross water at the end. It's kind of annoying to share the room with others especially when you can't just ignore their conversations but whatever. It was an inexpensive and different treatment that I thorough enjoyed. I did peek into the salt cave and it didn't look as claustrophobic as it sounds. May have to try it!! Fun place and I wish them well! read more

I was brought here by my wife as part of my birthday relaxation gift. I had previously wanted to go, but only to bring her. I'm hard to convince how good these different relaxation places are but I am very happy that she brought me. I was able to relax and take in the benefits of the salt cave. I noticed that they have other services that I would like to go back to and try out. I could really feel the difference in my breathing and I am now a believer of the benefits. I liked the fact there were lockers for your personal items to give you peace of mind and the zero gravity chairs were also nice. The person that greeted us at the door provided top shelf service and made me feel comfortable and like she was happy that we came. I will happily recommend this place to others. read more

I received an advertisement in the mail for the Carmel Salt Caves and saw that it boasts as being HSA and FSA approved. I've had halotherapy at other facilities before and thought that it would be nice to visit and use my HSA card to cover the expense. I went online and decided to book the smaller cave that they have located upstairs for a more intimate experience. My best friend and I arrived just as a snowstorm was ramping up outside and was greeted on the front steps by a gentleman clearing a path in the snow. Once inside, we checked in on the iPad and a woman took our coats. She then showed us around a bit, since this was our first time there. She showed us the larger, downstairs cave and then took us upstairs to the lockers. You must leave all electronic devices in the locker or keep them under the blanket once you're in the cave, otherwise micro-particles can get inside of them and ruin them. There is also a restroom upstairs near the lockers. We removed our shoes and was then shown into the cave and given a brief description of the benefits of halotherapy and how the cave operates, including a history of the stones used to construct it by Sky. You are advised to breathe through the nose, holding the breath for a few seconds before exhaling. I think my friend and I did too much yapping and not enough breathing because I didn't really feel the effects of the therapy in regard to the clearing of my sinuses and improved breathing. I began to question the validity of their claims to be pumping micro-particles of salt into the air, but when I licked my lips, I could taste it! The little shop downstairs has lots of unique, self-care products and they also offer foot detoxes. There are beautiful chandeliers throughout the home (this is a residential home that has been converted into a business) and they lend a lot of beauty and charm to the place. During check out, I tried using my HSA card, however, it was declined due to the business not being s medical provider. Sky forwarded the receipt to my emails and advised that I should submit it for reimbursement. She also allowed us both to take an item home, free of charge, for venturing out into the snowstorm to keep our appointments. That was extremely kind of her. We plan to return and try out the foot detox soon. read more

Do you need an hour to relax? The carmel salt cave may be for you! I was fortunate to visit on a Friday I had off of work.. so I booked mid-day.. well all the sudden the weatherman started saying "snow in bound starting around lunch" so.. I called and asked if there was any chance to reschedule... the nice employee checked and found an opening earlier in the day. This was perfect so i could beat the incoming snow. I think the site did mention something about a possible charge for not showing - don't remember the specifics but it was clear. Okay so I tried to read a bit about what to expect before going so I knew to wear socks and just a comfortable outfit and that they may give me a blanket because it was on the cooler side. The employees that helped me were so warm and offered lots of good tips to take advantage of the experience like how to breathe and even ideas on what to think about. I left fully relaxed and glad I had the experience. Oooo and they mention you will need yo drink water after. I was drinking water like it was going out of style!!! I could taste the salt on my lips too for those that might not think there will be salt in the air - there is - they have some machine that pushes it into the air (they told me what it was called but you get a lot of info so I don't remember) Final note: i didnt try any of the other services but i'd come back for another time in the salt cave read more

This was a welcome surprise on a Sunday! Booked online and did the salt cave, detoxifying foot soak and face mask-just wore the visor. We were warmly greeted upon entry and since it was my first time, she gave a little tour. They also have a sauna with infrared light that can have two people in it. There's a separate dressing room area to change as well. There are two salt cave rooms. We were in the room on the first floor. It is well insulated so I didn't hear much of anything outside of the room. There is literally tons of Himalayan salt in the room. For the salt cave, you put all your belongings in a little locker, along with your shoes and you wear your socks in and walk to a zero gravity chair of your choosing. There is room for eight in this room. You can cover up with a blanket and listen to the intro while soothing music is piped in for your hour of relaxation. Be sure to inhale deeply through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Try to focus on your breathing. She comes and lets you know you are done, but there is also an announcement over the speaker that you are too. We then went upstairs for our foot soak and face mask/visor. The water was nice and toasty and the room was well decorated. Loved the fireplace! We were advised on how the foot soak works between the salt and the detoxification process. They give you a little card to read that tells you more about and what color your water means. It was very relaxing because I'd never take the time to sit and put my feet in a bucket of hot water for 30 minutes at home!! Nicely appointed little shop too where you can buy gifts such as salt lamps, bath bombs, etc. you can also book parties here which is an added bonus! Lots of education in a relaxing environment. What a great escape for self care! Originally we had purchased a Groupon for an alternate place but we found this spot in Carmel- so much closer for us! We received a happy greeting upon entry and welcomed by the owner, Skye, whose grandkids also refer to her as Birdy, which was her grandmothers name, and that's why there are so many noticeable Godwinks to her. We had booked zero gravity chairs in the upstairs salt caves. We had it to ourselves and after sitting in the space, surrounded by salt being pumped in through the ventilation. It was extremely relaxing and you can feel the difference when you step out. Skye/Birdy continued to show us the other options of the foot detox, the infra red light bed and the massage balance machines in the basement. I specifically asked for a membership or loyalty and she said not yet. There's a quaint little gift shop supporting the shop, and let's just say, we are booked for next Wednesday to return! Had a very positive first experience last week. Have visited salt caves in other cities but not in the Indy area yet. It was easy to make a reservation online that fit the time that I wanted. It was unclear if I could bring a friend so I called and asked they said yes! It was unclear if I would be reserving just a seat in the cave, since there were about 6 chairs total or if I was reserving the whole cave. Apparently you reserve the whole cave! The owner said she works hard not to put strangers together which is appreciated when you're closing your eyes and trying to relax. I do feel that if the $40? (think that's right?) covers the whole cave then bringing additional people should come at a discount or something to incentivize you to fill up the already reserved space. I found the experience to be very relaxing. Appreciated the music and the directions. The time went by really fast-I thought it was an hour but total time seemed to actually be 45 minutes so maybe the hour includes directions and transition time. Didn't really notice any benefit other than relaxing time away from distractions but definitely open to trying it again. Really nice quality of space. read more

I just had the most amazing experience at Carmel Salt Caves. Skye and Rod welcomed me into their space and provided a top-notch experience from the beginning to the end. I spent an hour in the cave which contains (I believe) 12 tons of salt. It was an incredibly relaxing experience and gave me quiet time to reflect while also getting the health benefits of the salt. Then I moved on to foot detoxing which was incredibly soothing and also informative (it's crazy to see what's been lurking in our bodies). It felt like a spa experience with added health benefits. Late one night, my friend from back home sent me a vid she had seen on social media of The Carmel Salt Cave and Spa. After watching, we immediately decided she had to come for a visit so we could check this spa out. I reserved our cave experience (upstairs cave), foot detox and sauna thru the website, which was very easy to do! She came up and away we went! We had the best day at the spa! The cave was beautiful, relaxing and peaceful. We had a foot detox bath right after, which we enjoyed immensely with other guests in the room. It was a unique treatment that was very well explained throughout the process. Lastly, we sat in the infrared sauna (we both LOVE saunas) which was very clean and had plenty of cold water and towels waiting for us. On the way out we chatted with the owner. She is an absolutely lovely lady! She told us her story, showed us around and even offered us a tasty beverage from the cooler. Later that afternoon, my SO went by to pick up a gift card to give as a bday gift after hearing our rave reviews. The spa is clean, inviting and unique with beautifully crafted salt caves. The staff member for the foot spa was very knowledgeable and explained how the process removed the toxins from the body and then explained all those (ewwies) after the process. The Himalayan salt cave was beyond cool. It was so relaxing in the gravity lounge chairs and staring at the startlit night cavetop, or drifting off to sleep to the sounds of ocean waves. After being pampered, you can hit the gift shop, that has amazing variety of natural soaps, as well as a variety of other self-care products. Give me this as a mother's day gift all day, everyday!
