The moment you arrive Cristina greets you and you feel welcomed. At the beginning I thought she was serious but the second time, she was assertive, polite, and very Professional! Then Lucy! Omg! The sweetest one! She explained everything and was making little cute comments here and there to calm me. She even grabbed my hands in the middle of the process . If I could give her zero stars, I would. I would not recommend Dr. Ohanian. Horrible dentist with no personality. She is more concerned about making money than she is about a patient's well-being. She could care less about her patients. Every appointment felt rushed, and I always had the impression that the focus was on getting patients in and out as quickly as possible rather than providing quality care. My dental cleanings were extremely fast and much more aggressive than I've ever experienced with any other dentist. My gums would bleed significantly after almost every cleaning, which had never happened to me before. I also had multiple fillings done, and over time every one of those fillings has come out. That has completely undermined my confidence in the quality of the dental work I received. Another concern was that my cleanings were performed by the dentist rather than a dental hygienist, which made the appointments feel even more rushed. Overall, I left feeling disappointed with the quality of care and have not returned and will NEVER EVER return. read more

I found Dr. Ohanian through Metlife (you have to pick a primary dentist) and I couldn't have hoped for a better experience. I had a terrible time with a shady dentist 2 years ago in San Diego and avoided dentists like the plague after that. I was really afraid to go back to one! Well, I can say that Dr. Ohanian was the polar opposite of my previous dentist. Her office was full of up to date equipment and very clean/peaceful. The doctor was really knowledgeable and honest about the health of my teeth. She didn't diagnose fake cavities or try to sell me random junk for teeth issues I don't actually have. She just told me to keep using a soft toothbrush and do what I've been doing. The hygienist took a zillion x-rays of my teeth. It always hurts to have those big plastic things pressing against my palate but she worked quickly so the discomfort didn't last very long. The dentist took a look at my teeth and x-rays and happily exclaimed, "No cavities!" I think I could've passed out from relief. Dr. Ohanian cleaned my teeth very thoroughly with the help of her super nice hygienist. She used some weird vibrating tool and was honest when she told me it may make my teeth feel sensitive. After the cleaning the hygienist polished my teeth and then I was good to go. Best part of all- my dental insurance covered everything.. I didn't even have a co-pay. So awesome. For once I'm looking forward to going back to a dentist in 6 months. read more

Five stars all the way!!! Not only Dr. Ohanian worked wonders to give me my Hollywood smile but she and her staff were very educated about their profession! Her hygienist Hilda walked me through the process and was very detailed, answered all my questions with patience, and that made me feel really great! The Earl Scheib of dentists. She's a nice lady but this place is run like a chop shop; It's all about volume here, getting you in and out as fast as possible and making every minute billable. This becomes a problem when you go in for a filling and they novocained you only to promptly forgot about you as they tend to the next wave of patients on their dental assembly line. By the time they remembered me fifty minutes later I'd already bitten into my tongue and was bleeding. Fast forward to two return trips because the filling hadn't been sanded down properly so I couldn't quite close my jaw fully. Probably because she was constantly interrupted by her staff for other patients in other rooms. Worse, when we tried to move our family away from her service it turned out that our lousy Blue Shield insurance requires her to release us first before they'll assign us another dentist and Ohanian's office refused to do so. They actually had the audacity to tell us we "have no choice" but to continue seeing them. After almost biting my tongue off getting my filling we ended up paying out of pocket for our kids to go elsewhere until our insurance resign three months later. Think about that: We were willing to shoulder the entire cost of another dentist, including teeth cleanings, x-rays, and fillings rather than bring our children to this clown. STAY AWAY. read more

From Weho to Pas, I've had bad experiences with dentists in LA. I looked through yelp to find one near me that had good reviews. I realized that if I wanted a good dentist I was going to have to change from a general insurance plan to a PPO. So I actually did this. With great trepidation, as it costs a bit more and I'd come to the sad realization that dentists in LA might just be awful all around. However, I made my appt with Dr. Ohanian once my PPO kicked in. I showed up, she cleaned my teeth right away, no double-talk about how I need a deep cleaning and no condescending discussion regarding my flossing habits. (I had one dentist who refused to clean my teeth first visit, then made me have TWO visits just to clean my teeth.) I discussed with her all the things I'd like to do to fix my mouth up; replace amalgam with composite, replace the resin on my front teeth, bleach. She told me exactly what she would do, explained how she does everything, and said she could do just what I wanted, at little or no cost. (The same dentist who required 3 visits for one teeth cleaning unequivocally refused to consider replacing the resin - he wanted me to pay $600 a tooth for veneers). I had an appt at 3pm and I walked out of Dr. Ohanian's office with a sparkling smile and a lighter heart. She seems to be honest and competent. A rare set of qualities in an LA dentist. read more

I was really disappointed with the service that I received. Dr. Ohanian cleaned my teeth in less than five minutes. I wish I could say it was because I didn't have a lot of plaque on my teeth. Rather, she aggressively and hurriedly scraped the plaque off while making my gums bleed the most blood I have ever seen come out of my mouth. In the past, dentists have spent a lot more time with the scraper and gone much slower and gentler. The polishing was done extra quickly as well. I seriously felt like I was just another client to get through. They didn't ask me about myself or even simply say, "How are you?" I used yelp to select this Dentist and I'm really sorry to say that my experience was entirely inconsistent with the other reviewers. She was nice but a few minor changes could have made my experience a million times better. UPDATE: A recent visit back for a small cavity filing was a completely different experience. The waiting room was not busy at all and the staff did not seemed rushed. Everyone was really friendly and Dr. Ohanian took her time with the filing. She was really thorough and patient. This experience was in contrast to my first visit. It may be that when they overbook or have too many clients in one day, the services are much different. UPDATE (about 9 months later): I have had so many problems with the cavity filing. Another dentist had to fix my bite and then redo the filing because there was a void. Still having issues with biting down and with tooth sensitivity. I've had filings before and never had this many issues :(. read more

I just had my teeth bleached by her and she did a great job, although I've already stained them. I've always been nervous about dentists, especially since I've had a string of them who sucked my bank account dry with onlays, overlays, crowns, root canals, and other "preventive" measures that they insisted I needed... so I decided to find (yet again) another dentist. I did a lot of searching a saw reviews for Dr. Ohanian describing exactly what I was looking for - someone who only did procedures if they were needed. I had my first visit with Dr. Ohanian today and she was everything I had hoped for - she didn't try to pressure me into cosmetic changes or "preventive" fixes. She examined my teeth and said everything looked fine. I was shocked. I thought for sure she was going to recommend I replace my older metal fillings esp. for one of the teeth that had been bothering me. She looked at the x-rays and examined the tooth closely, doing different tests to see if there was anything wrong with it. She said the tooth was fine and the reason it hurt was because the root was receding and that sensodyne would help. I told her another dentist told me to replace my metal fillings and she responded by saying the problem with doing dental work when it isn't needed, is that you lose more of the tooth. She said to come back if it still hurts in a couple months and she'll look at it again, but she was pretty confident that it was fine. And that was it, I couldn't believe it. read more

I have been going to the dentists for the last 15 years and Carmen Ohanian is the WORST of all. My bad luck that my insurance changed a month ago and I decided to give her a try. All the positive reviews are left by her staff. Generally, a dentist would spend about 15-30 minutes cleaning your teeth. She spent only 2 minutes, used only water jet, no flossing or scraping, simply nothing and my mouth is sore and paining badly. I got my teeth checked 3 months ago and they were fine. Suddenly, according to her I have a cavity and she was forcing me to book an appointment. I have only this advice for you if you are reading this..AVOID HER LIKE A PLAGUE. read more

I totally agree with the other one star reviewer. I was hoping his review was not true, but it was true (except Dr. Ohanian scrapped my teeth during the cleaning and did not use a water jet as the other one star reviewer mentioned). I usually go to Dr. Trudgeon in Mission Hills, but recently moved to Glendale. I decided to go to Ohanian based on the 5 star reviews here - you guys do NOT know what a good teeth cleaning should be. Dr. Ohanian literally only took 3 minutes to clean my teeth and the cleaning was very brisk and painful. I KNOW what a good cleaning should feel like and this one was VERY painful and way too fast. When I rinsed my mouth out after the cleaning there were blood clots coming out into the sink. I take good care of my teeth so there is no reason for the amount of blood and pain during the 3 minute cleaning. At Dr. Trudgeon's office a hygenist cleaned my teeth and always took at least 15 minutes - she was gentle and removed lots of plaque every time. Next time I will drive to mission hills to my previous dentists office. People, a teeth cleaning should not be very painful (maybe just a tiny bit) and should be done at a slower pace and more carefully. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR!!! read more

I have been going to Dr. Ohanian for about 5 years now, and I can honestly say, she is the best dentist I've ever been treated by. Like many, I've had my share of bad and horrible experiences with dentists, and ALL of my experiences with Dr. Ohanian and her staff have been pleasant and great from start to finish. Christina at the front desk is always so warm and friendly, and all of the hygienists are very gentle and make you feel comfortable. Dr. Ohanian is extremely personable, and takes the time to talk to you and answer all questions that you may have. She is very gentle during procedures, and talks you through everything she's doing, meanwhile asking if you are OK along the way. She always makes sure you are comfortable, and that puts you at ease. She is also sensitive to your finances, and will help prioritize any work you may need, aside from the routine cleaning, being mindful of your insurance coverage, (i.e. what work needs to be done asap, vs. what can wait until the following year). I truly trust Dr. Ohanian, and I feel safe and comfortable with any work she performs on me. I can't imagine seeing any other dentist. Even though finding a new dentist would make more sense (geographically), I still drive all the way from Rancho Cucamonga to Glendale just to see her because I refuse to go to anyone else. read more

The only thing that was really unpleasant was the x-rays. I usually could breathe through my nose but their particular way of taking x-rays was too much for me to handle. The pieces that you bite on was very very uncomfortable as I do not have a big mouth. A little bit of encouragement would have helped during the uncomfortable x-rays, but whatever. No co-pay with my particular insurance. I'll be back for a filling and then my routine cleaning. Her office gets busy. I went in for a check-up and cleaning; the dentist cleaned my teeth herself, since they had a lot of scale, and gave me a clean bill of health (my last dentist claimed I needed thousands of dollars of dental work). She's also the first dentist I've seen in years who didn't try to sell me cosmetic dentistry. My impression is that this is a pretty bare-bones practice, so this probably isn't the place for you if you want to see your teeth on a video screen or get cosmetic dentistry. read more
