I think the best seats are about half way up from the court, but there really isn't a bad seat in the house. I think you'll be able to follow the action wherever you are. I like how the students get prime seating. Their section starts just off of half court and extends behind the South goal. They are young, full of fun, and are a huge part of the game day experience. Concessions are basic, but easy to find and access. Entering and exiting can take some time if it's a big crowd, but isn't overly difficult. If it's a popular event you might give yourself a little extra time.

It was a women's basketball game with all of the women's teams in booths around the concourse prior to the start of the game. I was also able to meet K-State's new soccer coach who is starting the program that will debut in Fall 2016. Last night I attended my first men's game, K-State's upset over KU. There really is not a bad seat in the house. The arena is relatively small, seating just over 12,500. That means there is only one true seating level though and not really any nosebleed seats or sections. I had excellent seats on the 12th row behind the basket, with seat backs. The crowd was ferocious, there is a lot of entertainment at the game between time-outs and at halftime, and the powercat pride was exciting. Parking is not terrible - $5 for women's games and $10 for men's games. We parked by the exit to the lot and got out pretty fast. Go cats!

Being one of my first Opera Houses this completely met my low standards and made them high! This…read morelittle place has been the settings of many of my nights due to the wide range of plays they have such as a little theater that has children audition from any and every background and have different shows, such as Grease and Hairspray. The Opera house is clean with little to no trash in the seats making it easier to relax and enjoy they show. The inside is smaller than you would imagine, but they make up for it with adding a second row with booth seats. They also did a good job with keeping a wide area in the seats so you don't have an awkward situation on standing up and having a stranger push onto you, because there's enough leg room for you to stand up. The directors make the show fun and interact with the guests, for example tonight they had a give away if they reached 100 likes on Facebook, but even though they did not they still gave the prize away!

When a friend had to cancel plans for Saturday evening, we needed to find something to keep us entertained. After googling "live music" we found "Jazz at the Junction" at the Opera House. We made the drive over to Junction City and are so glad we did. We didn't actually see the theater, as the jazz concert was held in the lobby. The group performing was Wayne Goin and Friends and the music was fantastic. There was a $5 suggested donation at the door, free popcorn, and snacks, beer and wine also available by donation. There was a good sized crowd for a small, community theater in Junction City. There was a tv in the lobby with scrolling announcements of upcoming events and it looks like they have a little of everything...musicals, comedy, dance, and productions for children. If I lived in Junction City I'd definitely take advantage of the events this little opera house is offering.

The Kansas Sampler Festival was a fun a way to explore the entire state in a few hours at one park…read more It moves locations every few years, and this year it was in Wamego, about 15 miles east of me. Eric R. and I found parking in downtown Wamego and walked to the park. Adult tickets were $5 each which is a fair price. There were maps everywhere, with different entertainers at different stages and ampitheatres. Tents were spread throughout the big park, each one highlighting a different area of the state. Inside were booths of CVBs and representatives from various cities. In the vendor/KS products booth, we met the writer of the Kansas Trail Guide book that is not even out on amazon yet. We talked to him about how he explored the whole state for hikes and trails, and we bought his book. We look forward to exploring the state for hikes and Eric R.'s cycling passion. There were some food trucks and booths from around the state. Eric R. tried BBQ from Halverson. We heard the bison burgers were great but the line was too long and we had to go back to MHK. I was intrigued by the Lindsborg tent - there is a Swedish community there a little under 2 hours from us, so we hope to visit Lindsborg soon!

They even had a backroom with cars, carriages, and a fire truck from the 1890s. I think this would be a great place to visit if you were researching local history. The museum volunteer was very informative and a great tour guide. Museum admission also gets you admission to the old buildings on the lot and the windmill.
