We stopped by Carmine's Cafe on Saturday afternoon and ordered two Italian sandwiches. The Italian sandwiches were delicious with the perfect amount of meat and cheese. Just discovered that Carmines does breakfast sandwiches and coffee as well! They serve New England coffee. I got the iced coffee which is a bit on the bitter side which I enjoy more than the water you get at Dunkin. So nice to have a local alternative for coffee in the neighborhood. read more

We were only in Boston for a weekend in December and got in late. We looked for a local place to get some pizza and found this neighborhood cafe. We bought a pizza and a calzone. The calzone was huge and so was the pizza. Both were excellent and authentic. What made it even better was the service. The staff was so helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. Great sub sandwiches! He now has ice cream has a service window. We have stopped by a few times while walking our dogs during the summer. It is nice to sit at the outside table having ice cream and watching the people go by. But the menu inside is Great also. Everything is made fresh everyday with a few specials as well. You can even pick up cold cuts and salads too! We have been going here ever since Carmine bought the place. It's great to see that he is still there and doing well. This place is great. I got the eggplant parm, and oh my gosh, it was so good! The bread was light, and the eggplant was soft and the sauce tasted very authentic. Along with the cheese it went together perfectly. I also had to get one of the huge, homemade, chocolate chip cookies that was resting on tray nearby. This also did not disappoint. There was a lot on the menu, so I hope for the chance to come back here again. The vibe was great. It had a bright atmosphere, and the workers were friendly. Everything felt very authentic. I have ordered subs and pizza there Large pizza was too big for two individuals so tried a small pizza and that the size was huge for a small pizza But Carmine's has something that you very rarely see Bottled milk. I went down to Quincy to meet up with some family members and stopped in for some food. I ordered two pizzas It wasn't exactly quick wait. I called in the car and they still took an extra 20 minutes when I got there (about 20 minutes later) and didn't notice until I got home but the bottom of the pizzas where very black and inedible because of this. I tried to call back and asked for the manager who told me that was how the pizza was cooked and hung up the phone. I called back and one of the regular service people apologized and mentioned he was not talking the phone calls any more. His word was final (fair enough considering he was in charge but not very costumer oriented....) I don't know if he was manager or the owner but I sure hope it was just an angry manager. Apparently my cousin doesn't order there because the food isn't really cooked properly all the time, like it was made to the taste of the chef and not to a standard food quality. Like sometimes it was over salty or very spicy on something that was only suppose to have a bit of a kick. My uncle said they where not open all the time and where constantly closed for mild weather and other small family stuff. He said the food is normally okay but because they can't rely on them being open they don't bother anymore. So that was probably my bad for not double checking with my family. It was pretty sad considering the other ingredients tasted okay and the other staff was so nice but I would not go back. read more

Definetly the hidden gem of Quincy. You could call me a pizza snob, I went to college in New Haven, where it all began. If you want good pizza it has to be a thin crust with quality ingredients, end of story. Carmines has it. Their grinders are out of this world. The best Italian I have had outside of my family's own. Carmine was very gracious - he talked us through the menu options and fit us in despite the short notice and a busy weekend day. The dish came out beautifully, and exactly when promised. The chicken pot pie is the best I've every had. They only have it on Monday. They have good Italian style pizza, lots of home made paste Togo. They have eggplant parmigiana, ziti with meatballs, and also lasagna. It's very kid friendly. The only bad thing is that the don't deliver and they close at 7pm. read more

Another favorite of mine is the buffalo chicken sub. I haven't tried much else but based on the rest I assume it's outstanding.
