Looks can be deceiving, and when I first saw Matteo's I was a little skeptical. Now it's my go-to pizza place. Not far from a literal hole in the wall, Matteo's does business from a counter WITHIN the Atlantic Liquors' shop (as does the Coffee n Cream cafe). But from this modest establishment comes a solid menu and amazing pizza. While normally I prefer more Italian style pies with thin crusts, Matteo's Greek style pizza gives excellent quality at reasonable prices. I'm also a big fan of their gyros, fries, and chick parm calzones. Good hours, wide delivery radius, and some of the best pizza in Quincy, Matteo's has never let me down. The first time I ordered here, their food was decent enough to eat and came with a decent amount for a good helping. Today, I ordered food and it's like they literally threw what leftover lasagna they had left into a tin container and literally threw it into the bag and caused a huge mess all over the brown bag as well as the plastic bag. I would give LESS than one star if possible!! Placed an order for DELIVERY. After over one hour, and no call and/or delivery of food, I checked online. Matteo's listed as CLOSED. As it is Easter, I considered this was most likely and internet holiday glich, so I ordered from somewhere else. About 20 minutes later, a call from Matteo's... We would always get our chicken parm sub here when we crave for one. It might not be what you might expect in a reg chix parm. But we like it! So after seeing the reviews I have finally decided to try out this place, like most new places I like to order a couple things to try and fill out the menu. The first thing I decided to order was a small pepperoni pizza and also an Italian sub both were very delicious and satisfying. The pepperoni pizza with fresh had great flavor and even though I believe the dough might not be homemade it would still very delicious. The Italian sandwich was also good size and Portion very delicious and satisfying, my only complaint would be that the deli meat look like it's been sitting out for a minute and not refrigerated because of the discoloration but still tasted fine. This place is in the back of a liquor store but has plenty of parking and the staff is very friendly I will be returning again I have found my new spot for sub sandwiches. read more

I can't say enough good things about Matteo's. We had a party on the 4th of July and had difficulty finding a place that was open. My husband stopped into Matteo's and was informed by one of the girls that they would also be closed on the 4th for renovations. The owner of Matteo's overheard the conversation and stated that despite being closed, he would cook for the party and also have someone deliver the food. Who does that ?? Not only was the owner over accommodating, the food was delicious. Everyone at the party commented on the steak & cheese, buffalo chicken & Italian calzones, chicken, broccoli & Ziti and the kids loved the chicken fingers & fries. This is a big upgrade from the previous place inside the liquor store. Actually, the whole place has improved since it was bought. I can personally recommend the calzone and the gyro. I get the veggie Calzone and it satisfies. Dough is so important and they do a nice "town-house" (that's at least what I call it) style crust with plenty of good quality cheese that they brown nicely on top. The gyro is excellent as well. I'm looking forward to sampling more of the menu if I can get myself to not order my tried and true standard. They are also fast (15 mins), very friendly, and family owned and run. If you are lucky, the 5-year-old name-sake might be hanging out behind the counter as well. Cute kid. They have become a local standard for us.
