    Calamari

The place is in a little strip mall. It's smaller than it appears on the outside but that's not a big issue - just noting as it might take awhile to get seated on a busy weekend. There was live music playing the night I went. The singer even had a little QR placard you could use to request songs and tip, which is pretty cool. The server was friendly and checked on us a few times. The food was brought out promptly and was well seasoned. The calamari is mixed with either banana peppers or pepperoncinis so be wary if you don't like spice - not that they were really spicy. Salmon was grilled nicely - I've had salmon from other local restaurants where you can taste the propane, not here. Only sad part was they didn't have tiramisu, quintessential for an Italian restaurant imo.

Our first time to Carmines....and it won't be the last. What a great spot for date night or with the fam. Excellent setting for happy hour or a drop in. The menu has something for everyone and priced accordingly. The drink selection made choosing the perfect Pinot Grigio, easy. The lasagna is to die for. Caesar salad was on point and very delicious. The spectacular tiramisu was a great way to end a perfect meal.

Decided to visit Carmine's for my birthday dinner with my sister and little nephew. We arrived around 4:40pm on a Wednesday night for an earlier dinner. The host was friendly and seated us right away. Within a few minutes of us sitting down, our waitress was ready to take our drink order. We ordered the cheese bread for an appetizer and I will definitely get that each time I visit Carmine's. Cooked to perfection, yum! I ordered the Italian sandwich. Generous portion and tasted great. My sister got the Cajun pasta and that was also very delicious. My little nephew had the kids cheese pizza (not pictured), but he loved the cheese bread the most. Portions are large. We both had leftovers for the next day. Restaurant was clean and bright. There's a bar right when you walk in and pull-tabs to the right. We also noticed there was a backroom with arcade games. Perfect for families with kids. Our waitress was nice and attentive. Lots of options on the menu. Great experience and we'll be back in the future.

I went to Carmine's on a Saturday night. It was busy, but there was a lot of space for all the people there. The hosts were very friendly. They were able to get a booth. I ordered the Hot Dago. It was delicious! I would recommend it!

Popped in here on a whim to try a new place. Nice patio outside, dark atmosphere inside with a lot of space, really liked the setup. Service was solid, which is what carries this from a 3 to a 4. Apps: Balls And Bread - really good. The meatballs are one of the best parts. Very soft, not over cooked, moist (say it with me, mooooiiiisssssttttt), and the marinara they serve it with is good. The bread was just ok, I'd rather just eat the balls. *Note on their marinara, it's on the sweet side, which isn't my thing for marinara but it's still good. Italian Fries - really good as well. Enjoyed eating this. The dough is good, and the flavoring between the cheese, spices and sweet marinara works. Deep-Fried Raviolis - swing and miss! Over fried and flavorless. Not much else to say about it other than that. Nobody in our party enjoyed eating these, so, yeah, not worth getting. Entree- Meatball hoagie, meh. The bun completely fell apart and left me picking balls up with my hand to eat. As noted above, the meatballs are good, but, when you get a sandwich, you'd hope the vessel is going to be there to the end - the bread failed here and became a soggy mess of dough. Think it over. I got the "Carmine's Famous Sirloin" which, I'm not sure what it's famous for, honestly. It's a decent cut, cooked to order - slightly over - but there is no real flavor to it. Certainly nothing to make it "famous." No special seasoning to it or topping to set it apart from any other slab of cow. So, while it was good, nothing famous about it or anything that would make the dish truly better than just "good" as unfortunate as that is considering the price. The risotto was really good. As was the asparagus. So there is that. All in all, good, not great. If service is on like ours was, 4 stars all day.

The raspberry lemondrop doesn't pack a punch alcohol wise but I enjoyed it. Portions are large and definitely easily sharable. There was good lighting at each table to be able to see your dinner companions but dimmer throughout to give a sense of privacy, not sure if that's what they were going for but it was nice. Ample parking since it's in a strip mall. My only critique is that the containers for leftovers are the compostable clamshell containers; great for the environment but for butter and fat heavy foods. The containers absorbed the oils and leaked onto each other and the bag relatively quickly so keep that in mind if you're taking your pasta home without a bag or your car seats may be stained.

Basket of bread comes with the meals. Pizzas are only ok... so just come for the pasta dishes. Daily special dishes are great as well. Happy Hour: very few places offer 3-6p HH 7 days a week. This is one of the rare spots that do! Decent HH menu with $5 house wines. Granted, the house wines are very basic, but their regular wine list has some nice options and are fairly priced. Service: prompt, friendly, overall good experiences with the service. Ambience: it's a cozy, warm vibe with fireplace for cold days. It can be cold if you're seated by the door. Plenty of booths to request when you rsvp. Making reservations is a good idea on weekends. Located in an unassuming strip mall, this is a gem of a find. Would absolutely come back.

I encourage readers to look past a few things.... - First the restaurant is attached to a grocery store. It wasn't a distraction or issue to us. You wouldn't be able to tell if you're eating inside or even on the patio. - Second the menu is not huge. You're not going to find countless pasta dishes, chicken parmigiana, mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, and so on. Personally I was more than happy with less options that are all done well. - Lastly the prices. Like anyone I looked up the menu beforehand and wondered why a deep dish pizza was in the $25 range. While some restaurants charge more to adjust for inflation, Pizzeria Pezzo stands behind their prices through their homemade food with simple, high quality ingredients. Now the things I encourage readers to look directly at... - The meatball appetizer. I ate them too quickly, resulting in a bad picture. Comes with focaccia and a salad large enough to split. Definitely order if you appreciate this type of thing. - Both the deep dish and coal fire pizza. We only tried deep dish, but our eyes wandered to nearby tables dining on the crispy thin. I can't imagine a world where it isn't great like the deep dish, but will confirm when I go back. - Cannolis! Get them. $9 for 3 huge cannolis. Splurge a little. You can always walk it off at Kowalski's afterwards. I really liked this restaurant. Good food, nice people. I hope you try it. Pro tip: They have a Groupon out there right now 7/6/23.
