First time going to a U-cut lot for ourselves. We have taken Mom & Dad to a few lots in the Southend because they need a very tall Noble for their vaulted ceilings. We used to be fine with a Chubby & Tubby tree but alas they are now gone. Arrived at 11:30 on Saturday the 8th Of December and found we had company. Ample parking & helpful parking attendants working the lot to direct cars to open spots. Grabbed a saw, map & pricelist from the main area and headed out into a small field. You are to only cut trees with green tags. Saw quite a few without green tags that I would have loved. But found plenty with green tags to choose from. Got ourselves a nice 7ft Noble for $50. Same price as Fred Meyer but fresh as can be. Tip: Bring a tarp or blanket to lay on while cutting your tree & Bring gloves for carrying tree. read more

This place doesn't get enough credit and reviews that they deserve. This was where I cut down my first tree when I first moved out from my parents when I was 21. 15 years later; I'm still cutting my tree down here but this time with my kids. I love this place. I drive about 45min to an 1hr just to get here, but it's worth it. They price is right and they don't charge you for a shake and bale like Issq. It's sad that Christmas tree farms are getting fewer and fewer and it takes about 5-7 years for them to grow for our enjoyment with our family about a month But I love the smell of having a live tree every years. If you're thinking about getting a tree, you won't regret going here. The people are friendly, organized and my kids favorite part is the fundraising goods for the local high school that we always support. read more

First time cutting our own Xmas tree and couldn't be happier. Went to another tree farm first that had almost no inventory and super high prices. Here we were immediately greeted, given a HIGH quality saw, then off we went. There were ample choices of tree type, size and prices. What a huge bummer. We drove all the way over here and got nothing but muddy All their trees available were dead in the middle or Charlie Brown trees, like tall skinny scarce or even crooked. They have beautiful trees right when you drive in that aren't for sale. They say they're for next year but they're already huge. When you find a good tree it's not tagged for sale and there is no rhyme or reason why. 2 same height, same variety, the ugly one is tagged, the beautiful one right next to it isn't. I'm pretty sure we hiked all over the farm and the only ones we found that were decent didn't have a sale tag. read more

For years I've been buying my Christmas trees at the Yakima Fruit Market in Bothell, but this year we wanted to make it more of an adventure for the kids. So we piled into the car and headed out to cow country. Carnation Tree Farm is right off SR-203 so it's easy to find, and the farm is quite large. They have a huge selection of trees of all the varieties you would expect. The kids had a good time running through the rows and searching for the perfect one. The price was excellent. The tree was $40 and it's 12' high. I paid $70 at Yakima last year for one similar. Carnation Tree Farm will also shake it and bail it for you for an extra $3. There is a gift shop which is warm and has all the usual Christmas knickknacks. Customer service was excellent all the way around. I'm giving it 4 stars because 1) I never give five, and 2) because it's in Carnation. Other than that I have no good reason to knock it down. It was an excellent experience and we'll definately be back next year. read more

Take your kids here - next year, because they're all picked over for 2009. I decided that I was disgusted with the current crop of Christmas tree alternatives - trees on lots along major roads, Safeway, Home Depot, IKEA - everywhere overpriced dried out trees. This year, I wanted a real nice fresh Christmas tree. Alternately, for the Hippies out there, I had a blood lust - I wanted to kill a living thing for the holidays. Either way, I wanted a live, fresh Christmas tree. So of course, I looked on Yelp and found Peter's review (I blame him!) and decided to run down highway 90 and give this place a try. And, since it is the "holiday season", just for good measure I packed the car full of kids, because something told me that this was going to be one of those Winter Park Christmas tree farm places, and I knew that kids would get a kick out of running around and chasing Christmas trees ... well, you get the idea. Besides I might need help carrying the thing :-) So, into the car we went, and after a 30 minute drive we arrived at ... and passed ... the tree farm. Fortunately Carnation is not a huge place, so I turned around and went back and parked. The place was COLD - the weather said that it might snow today (it did - just flurries - but that made it even better). We parked, got out, corralled the kids, and headed straight for ... the restrooms (because women and little girls always have to go to the bathroom as soon as the car stops). Surprise, who is sitting in the room next to the restrooms and gift shop but ... Santa Claus! So ... who wants to sit on Santa's lap and get their picture taken? Surprisingly, not too many (as they were little children and many were scared by the prospect). Santa's elves (female elves?) calmed and cajoled children while the took moderately priced holiday happy snaps. For me, sitting watching the media debacle, there was entertainment in the form of an old (like 1950's old) coke machine that was OPEN - which meant that I could either (a) steal free bottled sodas (not!) or (b) open it up and show everyone how this antique refrigerator cum dispenser worked (which I did). Of course, the point of the trip was to go get a Christmas tree. And, sure enough, there were ROWS and ROWS of live Christmas trees just WAITING for me to rush out there and butcher with my trusty saw (which they supply). So we proceeded to wander around the large open field - of stumps, because it is late in the season and a LOT of the trees already have been cut down - until we found a tree that all of the kids decided was just THE perfect Christmas tree. Then, with my trusty (borrowed) saw in hand, I swiftly moved in and ... er, cut down ... the defenseless conifer - which after "shaking and wrapping" I proceeded to lash (with twine supplied by the tree farm) to the top of my rugged four wheel drive vehicle for the trip back for later mounting. A very good deal if you ask me. Oh, did I mention the bake sale (some local high school's robotics club - very much a non sequitur, hot cider, the gift store, the kettle corn, and the snow flurries, and the scenery and the nice leisurely drive? So, yeah, nice place - a bit out of the way (a few miles south of Duvall as it turns out) but nice people and a well run operation. My favorite quote from the visit - some guy to one of the workers at the tree farm asking about the price of his tree: "How will they know what to charge me?" All 4 of our kids love this tradition (even as adults) as we bring our Christmas cookies and sip hot cider after we have found the perfect tree. I love this place. We live in Carnation proper, and last year picked up our tree with our wagon, which can't hurt. But, beyond that, its the great friendly Christmas tree experience. You can either saw your own, or they've got fresh pre-cut to pick from. Our trees have always been lovely from there and lasted a long time. Also, the owner of the place donates a large tree to the local Senior Center, and probably other places, which is a nice touch. And, total bonus, its the only Salmon-Safe Christmas tree farm in the state. The guy that owns the place is a 4th generation of that family on that farm, and has made major shifts to make it a sustainable salmon-friendly operation. read more

My boyfriend and I had so much fun coming out here. We are in Kirkland, so it's really not too far. The Seattle sun was shining and it was opening day for the farm, so I had to take advantage of the weather and head out there. Dress warm and wear rubber boots cuz you might get muddy! You can either chop down one in the field or pick out an already cut tree. This place is great fun for the whole family! The selection was great, then again it was the first day, so go while the weather is nice and before they are all gone! The have everything from Noble Firs to Grand Firs, Nordman Firs and more! The prices are pretty reasonable. I haven't bought a tree in a long time, and they were between $30-50 on average for a regular 6'-8' tree. read more

Got there when they opened the morning after Thanksgiving and cut a beautiful 8' Grand Fir for a bargain price of $30. Yes, there was brown in the middle that the shaker took care of. Can't imagine they have much left as the crowd was enormous on our way out. My understanding is that they do not use pesticides nor excess fertilizers because they prefer sustainable farming and are certified Salmon-Safe. We'll continue to support, even if it means our tree is a little bit imperfect. read more

We visited this farm on 11/23/18 to cut down our annual Stewart Christmas Tree. We don't have a go-to farm every year, so we decided to try Carnation Tree Farm this year. We usually get a Noble fir due to the openness of the branches, but the Nobles at this farm were mostly brown except at the ends of the branches. From what I understand, this is due to a disease that cannot be treated with chemicals due to the farm's Salmon Safe designation. However, all was not lost. We were able to find a beautiful Nordmann Fir and cedar garland that looks lovely in our home. Our tree was $76 and the garland was $1.40 per foot. read more

I almost don't want to give away how great this place is. They have an incredible, vast acreage divided into different tree varietals. The trees are beautiful and healthy - you spend a good hour bounding from tree to tree, unable to decide. It's such a lovely spot, you don't want to leave, anyway. This year, we ventured to a new farm out in the "real woods" and found ourselves trekking around in vain, then politely making our way back up the mountain, handing our saw back in, and actually driving the half hour out to Carnation Tree Farm. Never again will we make the mistake of trying another tree farm. I couldn't tell you if they had cocoa or cider or Santa or anything - we were focused on good trees at this point - all I know is that the staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and the trees lovely. read more

First time visit. First time cutting my own tree. The day was nothing short of a rainy northwest day.. Needless to say we left with our tree, feeling as if we went for a dip in the tolt river.. But don't let a little rain slow you down. We didn't and we had a wonderful time picking and cutting our very own christmas tree. The people were wonderful, service was great. Prices reasonable. Absolutely impressed with the place from the time we parked to when we drove away. Customer service was awesome, as was the true caring from every employee there; that is very difficult to pull off. We interacted with about 7 employees and all were genuinely nice and personable. The quality of trees here surpasses anything I've ever seen and the price is very inexpensive. After trying out several tree farms in the area since we moved here in 2001, we have made this our 'go-to' place to get our tree for the past few years. We are partial to Grand Firs, and have had absolutely beautiful, PERFECT trees for a decent price. We also love the history of the farm, the barn and gift shop, and the baked goodies usually available from local groups' bake sales. We braved the rain and went on 11/26, and were disappointed to see that every single Grand Fir that was tagged for cutting had brown needles inside. A lot of brown needles. And we did diligently search, despite the rain. We did find a row of green ones, but they were not tagged for cutting. I'm assuming this past summer being unseasonably warm took its toll on the trees, and I know that's to be expected from time to time. We were able to find a pre-cut Noble that is beautiful, but it just doesn't have the intensity of pine smell that the Grands do. But the shape is perfect, and we had a great day despite the rain. We still love the farm and will go again next year, but I do think that maybe they should drop the prices on the brown trees. At least it's saying "yeah, we know these trees don't look great this year." I would appreciate that honesty. Happy Holidays! read more

We were excited to see a lot of cars when we pulled up, thinking it would be a great place to get a tree. Id say they had a lot of great trees on the lot, but only the tagged trees were for sale, which wasn't very many and they were ugly. The pre cut trees were nice but if I wanted one of those I'd go to Fred Meyer, no we drove all the way out to the sticks to cut our own. They did have free watered down cider and a Santa handing out candy canes to children. Bottom line is the selection sucked and they charge extra to bail your tree and won't even tie it to your car for you. Ho Ho horrible. read more

Third year getting my tree from family-owned Carnation Tree Farm. I love that they are a Salmon Safe farm and do not use chemicals that pollute our land and water. They have beautiful trees of several varieties -- mostly Nordmann, Noble, Frasier, and Grand firs. Because this farm doesn't use chemicals, some of the Nobles and Grands have been affected by Interior Needle Blight, which may be caused by a fungus, but still not much known about it. Nevertheless, the farm still has many great trees and I hope to be coming here for my tree well into the future. (As a Norwegian, I'd love to see a few more Norwegian spruce! Wonder if this is possible?) It's also fun to make a day of it in the beautiful Snoqualmie Valley -- have breakfast or lunch first in Fall City or Carnation (Raging River Cafe or The Roadhouse), visit other farms, support other valley businesses! read more

I can only rate it for the Christmas tree experience, which was ok but there are better places to go if you want "full" experience. Trees are great, a good price, and all the folks working there were helpful and pleasant. What I would imporve is no fire of any sort and the santa is expensive and in an ood place. Again, I was after the ful christmas experience with the kids, and we love it when places have a little bonfire or something to warm up by. Also, the santa was a nice fella and the photographer was as well but $11 for a picture they print there and its poor priinting quality (self photos are not allowed). The ink was not dry before it was put into the little cardboard holder so there are several smeared spots. The other thing with the Santa is he was sitting in a back room, a cinder block room that was not decorated much and it felt like we were getting a photo with santa in his jail cell. the picture sort of looks like is at well. Still better than buying a tree off a grocery store lot but there are better farms. read more

Typically nice trees at a good price. This year, poor selection and MUCH higher prices. Nearly $7 for a small piece of mistletoe. And no candy canes from Santa. Just big signs that say, "no photos w/o paying." Isn't that a nicety of buying a small $60 tree? read more

We recently moved to Seattle and thought it would be fun to take our kids to a Christmas tree farm to cut down our tree. Parking was easy and I enjoyed seeing all the rows of trees growing around the farm. We grabbed a saw and headed to a back section where the Douglas Firs were. They are $20-$27 depending on height. The noble firs ran between $45-70 on average (from what I saw). We cut down a great tree and headed back to the barn. I chose this place because they had pictures with Santa. For $11 you get a picture taken by their photographer. The quality of the print wasn't that great, but it definitely captured the moment. While waiting for the photo, we bought some sweets and hot cocoa from the bake sale out front. They also offer kettle korn. We will definitely go back next year. read more
