This place is a carniceria, general store and restaurant all in one, and it's awesome. You can find latin treats such as candies and drinks as well as different cuts of meat, spices and even pinatas. We poked around the store a bit and it definitely gave the feeling of not being in the valley anymore. Ultimately we came to eat though and so you go to the back and it's a very cafeteria feeling eatery back there. The ceilings are high, there are chairs and tables and extra inventory everywhere. Based on the menu, we ordered tacos, but they also had tortas, burritos and even off-menu menudo (next time). We got some drinks and ordered our tacos. They came out reasonably quickly and we're just absolutely loaded with meat. Almost like they had been punched out of a larger taco with a cookie cutter. I ordered the carne asada and chicharrone tacos while my wife got pastor and carne asada. I'd definitely be down to try all the other offerings. This meal was a great surprise. Fast casual take out (or stay and eat) place attached to a grocery store. Printed menus are on the table in front of the register and open kitchen. Order first, grab a soda from the many refrigerators on the wall and wait for your food. They'll stick your tray on the counter but don't call out that it is ready so if it's busy keep your eyes open. We ordered four kinds of tacos: Carne asada (steak) - it was tender enough and well cooked but seriously lacking in flavor compared to the others that we tasted. Chicken - decent tender chicken shreds albeit a bit plain. Chicharron - small pieces of crispy pork rind that right before serving in the tacos are tossed in a spicy tomato sauce. Very good but you have to eat this one instantly when served otherwise the crispy pork rind starts to get mushy and chewy. Very delicious sauce! Pork al Pastor - Seriously the best of the four. Normally al pastor are made with the pork cooked in layers on a vertical split and served with some pineapple. Since this isn't a very busy place they don't do the volume required for having that kind of spit and they cook marinated chunks of pork on the grill. The marinade was very flavorful and strong and I would order these again the next time we are in the area and decide to eat here. One of the folks in our group had the multiple meat hamburger. It had a beef patty, some baloney like meat, a grilled piece of ham, a split hotdog, and bacon! They have lots of Hispanic and Mexican soft drinks as well as Pepsi products but very little in terms of low calorie drinks. Just Diet Pepsi and then three or four versions of flavored, unsweetened waters like Topo Chico. A very good value relative to the ski town where we are staying. read more

Since Yelp gave a great review, we went to this restaurant. Not at all what we expected. You walk into a grocery store. My husband thought we were in the wrong place. However, as you meander back past the interesting meats, fresh vegetables, canned goods, boxed sweets, a plethora of refrigerated beverages, and the cash register, you spot the tiny restaurant. Not knowing what to do, you look at the patrons eating their lunches. I guessed that you go to the far wall, pick a beverage from the refrigerators and go to the counter to find a menu and order. Guessed right. We ordered fajitas. They said, "We are out of chicken." Beef is fine hubby said. They yelled out, "Fajitas!!" a few minutes later. Oh! That's us I guess. Behold: there was beef, chicken, green peppers, red peppers, onions, beans, rice, chips, tortillas, lettuce and tomato. Enough to feed three people. Good thing we had decided to split the order. I found this gem after gassing up at Costco. Classic Mexican food and grocery combo. I ordered a 4 taco plate with beans and rice. They were street taco sized. They came "Mexican" style. My son ordered the burrito. Both were delicious. There is a large cooler with a variety of drinks. I would call this more "authentic". Great stop and highly recommend as a "hole in a wall". Hello Yelpers Having moved here from SoCal (where good Mexican food is birthed...don't be jealous...lol), I was in search of good Mexican food (not tex mex or New Mexico style). I was hesitant in trying this place but I saw that lunch hours was busy. So after a few weeks went by, I decided to try it out. As I walked in, I was immediately impressed because they had Korean style short ribs in the meat deli. They had a good eating area, real Mexican soda, and other goodies. Then I met Miguel and Maria. To my surprise, they're from Burbank CA and they know SoCal Mexican food (Praise the Good Lord!) They said we can make you anything from SoCal. My mouth started watering. So far I've tried their: breakfast burrito (served all day), carne asada tacos and burritos, posole (pozole) soup (de-lish in CO cold day), bean and cheese burrito (my wife's fave), and a few others. All are great. Oh yeah, I had bought their pre-marinated carne and pollo asada to cook at home and it was a hit with the Ohana. Give em a try. M read more

A small Mexican grocery store with a small restaurant in the back. Authentic food. Reasonable prices. We split a 4 taco carne asada plate. The meat was tender and the beans were perfect. We came upon this small restaurant from a couple of friends recommendations. What a great place to have authentic Mexican food made by a local family. My husband ordered the barbacoa tacos and I had the carnitas burrito. It was all so good and fresh! I loved the charred jalapeño on the side, too. On a side note: I ended up leaving my purse hanging on the chair when we left, but I did have my leftover burrito! I called when I realized what I had done and Blanca had it and offered to mail it back to me the next day! I can not tell you how much her kindness and taking the time to mail it to me means in today's world! There are wonderful people out there and Carniceria Tepic is a keeper in the Eagle Valley! Real original Mexican food you usually don't find. Real flavors and ingredients, good service. Generous portions, big menu. Be aware that everything is bigger at dinner time. Horchata is delicious.
