Stopped in to town on a refuel morning between camping days and picked up breakfast burritos from here. Owner was super friendly and updated us on the local situation before we headed back out on to the highway. We definitely felt welcomed by the owner and the ambiance. There was a baby Yoda picture on the wall to greet us. Our burritos were made from scratch and some of the best we've had anywhere. There were a few local regulars who stopped by and knew the owner by name, I take that as a sign of a good restaurant. We'll be back and I'd recommend this place to anyone. read more

Like another reviewer pointed out, the deceptive menu is the real killer here. First time we ate there I paid no attention to pricing, however in the second visit the bill was over $30 more expensive than what it should have been. Entrees we're at least $5 more than posted, rice and beans were no included in the price even though it stated that they were. I asked to speak with the owner, but after waiting around for more than 29 minutes just decided to cut our losses and left. Really great food! Give them a try! My family and I come from California, so we know our mexican food. I got the Baracoa Wet Burrito and it was excellent. They had a unique wet sauce that I had never had before. Carmen and her husband who own the restaurant were kind and served us personally. Apparently the chef is a personal cook on the side, and it really shows! The food was great, the service was superb, and they are an awesome business to support. After reading positive reviews we decided to look for this hole in the wall. It is located in the residential area of old Gypsum. Small restaurant with what seemed like a good atmosphere, but after ordering a drink and browsing the menu, the waitress told us at the time of ordering that the prices on the printed menu we had in our hands were wrong. She explained that they were still waiting for the new menus to come in but that prices had changed. Around $5 more per plate than what was listed. Now, I've worked in customer service jobs for many years and it's a big no-no to do this. You can't charge customers for a price that's not advertised in your printed materials. I asked to speak to the owner and politely ask for honoring the prices. Apparently the owner is also the cook so he took a while to come to our table and talk to us. When he finally came I explained that this was our first time in the restaurant and hoping for a great dining experience based on the reviews but that the waitress had said that the prices were very different than listed. He declined to honor the prices without discussion, took our menus and did not care that I mentioned I was going to have this bad review for his restaurant. He raised his tone of voice and collected the menus in a rude demeanor from our table and walked away. We paid $6.50 for the bottled Victoria beer we ordered. So it's pretty expensive, the service is rude and even though some people said food is good we'll never know as we don't intend to go back to a place that treats customers like this. read more

Don't let the odd location detour you from coming here. Their food is amazing and authentic. The guacamole is some of the best I've ever had in the country. I usually get some variety of tacos with their HOT sauce. And they now sell alcohol if your feeling so inclined. After dinner dessert are yummy. Sopapillas and I believe home made ice cream are amazing! Staff is always friendly and the price is fair I feel, for the quality of the food you get. read more

Not sure what's happened here but this place has really gone downhill. The guacamole ($9) hardly had any avocado and was mostly tomato. What little avocado was there had been diced - not combined, not creamy and VERY unripe. The menu states that all burritos come with beans, rice, lettuce and cheese. Ours had exactly none of that. The food arrived in a decent amount of time but the service otherwise was slow. Very disappointing overall as compared to the first visit. read more

Beware! Charged $21 for a menu item listed as $16 (relleno plate). when we asked it was stated the price went up. They were out of margaritas, so it was suggested Michelladas as a substitute, and those were $17 each!!
