Amazing place has everything you need for Hispanics and has really good food too with lots of flavors

This market has some delicious food. There is an area for you to sit and enjoy the food or you can take it to go if you like. They have like three food ordering places. One for meats, another for daily food plates and another for desserts. Real, authentic food and I think their juices are hand made. So good! I've always wanted to try the fruit dessert with chili flakes and well.. I did. lol, it's a required taste. It's not bad but I probably wouldn't order it again. It looked good though!

The food was good, the sauces were excellent! I gave three stars because you can only buy Barbacoa and Birria on the weekends. So I couldn't try the dishes I came to eat. Also the service was decent but not as accommodating as you would expect in a restaurant. To her credit she was the only server and it did get busy when I came in. Also if you have to pay with cards you must pay at the front of the store.

We got the Barbacoa and pastor gorditas, and oh man, we inhaled it so quick, I forgot to breath. From the crispy fried corn flour, to the well seasoned, tender meat, to the two different cheese that they used, this thing can take my breath away any day. We also got the asada torta, the asada was delicious, but I'm not a fan of tortas. The man really enjoyed it thought, fries wasn't seasoned and we usually like it more crispy. We ran into my friend, she let us try the fruit cup and the pineapple mango drink. Both were so good! The mango was sweet, tangy and had chile. We eat very similar flavors in the Asian culture, so I'm used to these flavor mash up, my American boyfriend, not so much. The pineapple mango smoothie drink was very refreshing, it taste like an all fruit smoothie with no fillers! I think I'm already ready to try the next dish here! And we just left. The man said "Easily one of the best Mexican food I've had in Jackson."

Surprisingly not that cheap for a Mexican place. It's actually a Mexican store with a restaurant inside. The food was excellent! I had a steak burrito, a pork taco, fries, and a strawberry soda. (I thought I was going to get rice and beans not fries but meh). $12. $14 with my after lunch Ferraro Duplo Hazelnut bar (love). There was not all that much meat in the burrito which was disappointing. It was almost solely rice, beans, cheese, and veggies. I still say rice is a way for places to fill a burrito without using meat. The steak was very fatty. Like cow flavored bubble gum. The picture on the menu, which I know is an unrealistic expectation, was meat, avocado, tortilla. This had almost no meat and no avocado at all. This was like buying a red jacket on eBay and getting snow shoes. The seasoned pork taco was excellent!! Really, I think I just ordered the wrong thing. I should have skipped the burrito and ordered a plate of tacos. All in all I think it was pretty plain because I ordered the wrong thing. My coworker got the steak and pepper plate (not sure what the name was) and it was terrific. Overall great and I will be going back soon.

Fresh, tasteful, & cheap. What a fantastic place to get some good authentic Mexican food!! I have never before had such great tacos in my life that were so marinated & juicy!!! They had amazing salsa to choose from as well!! My friends loved their food equally & it was an overall amazing dinner. Great place to get some authentic food!!

Chicken (pollo) torta with arroz (rice) and extra crema. (I'm learning Spanish now lol) Chicken (pollo) Chimichanga with frijoles (beans) and arroz (rice) Chicharones and fresh fruit with mango, pineapple, and strawberries. It helps that I learned the basic things I needed to know how to say prior to going. So, communication was much easier today. Food was excellent and I have now transformed my dad from going to any other Mexican restaurant. He was like a kid in a candy store throughout the market. Great lunch!

Tried something new with my boyfriend and I love it. They are very authentic and true to the taste. Will definitely be back!

Deliciousness at its best. There is a bit of a language barrier but a smile goes a long way. They are nice and the food is the best Mexican I've tasted in the jackson area hands down. Please try their melon juice to drink, it's orange and taste like you've eaten ate a cantaloupe.

I know I am not the first person to do a review on Carniceria Valdez, but I'm gonna write it anyway. I've had people tell me about this place for the longest, but I didn't think about it, because this is Jackson and there's not too many places that provide authentic cuisine, especially Mexican. In Biloxi there's quite a few spots, but I look at Biloxi as if its Northwest Florida (that's what it was originally called anyway), but in Jackson you have LaMorena's and La Guadalupe, but now that I'm officially hip to Carniceria Valdez, this is gonna be my official go to spot for authentic taco's in the Metro area. I'll let all the southern yuppies, buppies (that's black yuppie, lol!) and preppies have Babalu's and Jaco Taco's - I wouldn't touch that gringo tex-mex fare with a ten foot pole and it was for free, I don't eat for ambiance - I want some good authentic grub when it comes to my tacos and burritos. They even have a butcher shop where they offer all the beef cuts and then on top of that they have the pre-seasoned fajita meat, where you can take it home and make YOUR VERY OWN AUTHENTIC TACO's - yes indeed! They sell groceries as well, tortilla's, seasonings, fresh fruits and vegetables, and marinades (their selection is better than La Guadalupes) Carniceria's offers diverse mexican sodas and drinks, including your standard beer collection - Corona's, Modela's, Tecate's as well. Taco's go for $1.99 a piece, they have fried chicken, the REAL chiccarone's, shrimp cocktail (cevache), they offer a good size burrito too. I'm so glad I finally broke down and tried this place, because now I know where to go when I want some really good tacos and La Guadalupe and La Morena are too busy. All in all, I'm on the bandwagon and a BIG FAN

Not sure if there is any better Mexican/Latin American food in the Jackson area. I highly recommend the birria and barbacoa tacos.

Best Mexican food in the area. The market also has a wide variety of ingredients. The fresh made tortillas help make it an excellent choice.

Oh, what a treasure this place is!…read more I am a big fan of Mediterranean food and this place does not disapoint. I had the cold plate with a side of gyro meat in order to try a little bit of everything and boy, I was glad I did. Everything is incredibly fresh and tasty. The real stand out for me is the tzatziki sauce - HOLY CATS!! I have never tasted anything so good.

THIS PLACE IS THE JAM Y'ALL…read more For Jackson, this is about as good as Mediterranean food is going to get. I gave it four stars because well, I lived in New Orleans, and I've tasted better Mediterranean food (Lebanon Cafe, Mona's). That's not to say that this Mediterranean food is not good. It's SO good. Shin e. is right, they do have a grocery section which is nice, unfortunately, Jackson doesn't have a huge need for Middle Eastern groceries, so some of the items may have sat on the shelf for a lil' while. The stuff in the case is solid though. The desserts are for the most part really good. The tiramisu is AWESOME, but I'm not sure that it justifies the $5.99 pricetag. Try a chocolate pecan bar instead, they're really good (but I'm not sure that it's a middle eastern thing) The hummous is SO SO fresh, you can taste the lemon and olive oil. Do yourself a favor and get some to-go for later in the week. Okay so pricing is a little pricy, but in all fairness the portions are pretty huge. The best time to go is for lunch, where you can get lunch plates in the neighborhood of $6-9. Dinner gets a little pricy with plates ranging from $10-$20. I had the kebab which was good, but not the best I've ever had. Then I tried my brother's dish, and realized I made a mistake choosing meat. This place is called Mediterranean Cafe and Fish Grill, and griling fish is a fine art that they have perfected. True, they use frozen fish, but they do a pretty good job at making it palatable. Hell, even more than palatable. I would recommend getting the pasta with fish. The pasta is done in this mediterranean sauce that I'm not familiar with, but it's delicious, and there are also grilled vegetables with it too. DEF. worth the visit. The owner (Elias?) is a very accommodating guy. One last tip, this place is BYOB! Which is amazing! (Except on Sundays). There's a liquor store in the strip, but I'd recommend shopping elsewhere for wine selections.

Their price hands down is the best around. $2.99lb, you can purchase by the sack or per pound. $4.99lb for boiled, but they offer a deal for 3lbs, 5lbs, and 10lbs. We got ours medium spicy, crawfish was huge!! Nice little kick, but I'll probably get it spicier next time. They do their boudin several ways, in a wrap (eggroll form), hot boiled, and fried boudin balls. The hot boiled way were my favorite, there was a nice mixture of spices, and a little kick. The cracklins were good, definitely fried extra hard if you like it that way. They're much different than Mexican style chicharons with a crispy layer on the outside, and tender on the inside, this is crispy all throughout. They have dine in at the moment, but with a limited menu. Place is spacious and clean. Once you're done eating, head over next door to their seafood market! They carry a variety of specialty meat, seasonings, and ready to cook items from Louisiana! They're still in the process of getting everything in, so the market is about 1/3 full at the moment. I spy with my little eye a hot food bar in the market area, that would be great for anyone on the go that wants a quick snack. Included the menus for yall. What's on the white board is what they're currently offering, and the paper menu is for what's to come.
