Taco Palenke Menu Side 1 - April 2018

Jackson Foodie crew came at the opening, recommended and I followed suit. Good cantina style tacos. Fresh corn tortillas. Love the fact they have their own set-up bar with sauces, onion, cilantro, peppers. I literally at 10 tacos on my first trip. If you like true cantina style tacos, you will not be disappointed.

Alivia T posted previously (3/11/18) about guacamole! I was told when I called there to place an order that they do not have guacamole.

OMG!! My husband and I was in Jackson today for his job and one of his co-workers told us to go by…read moreand try this restaurant so by the time we made it to Jackson it was lunch time so we stopped by. From the time we walked through the door the service was excellent! We were greeted with a smile and didn't have to wait. We were taken right to a table. The server came with a smile and got our drink order and food order. I don't think we waited 15 minutes for our order. It was hot and fresh and oh so good! We both got the lunch special grilled pork chops with 2 sides and a roll. The server kept checking on us to make sure we were good and if we needed anything and after we finished our meal the manager even came by to ask if everything was okay. I highly recommend The Iron Horse Grill!! 2 thumbs up and 5 stars

We started eating here probably 30 years ago when it was the OG. Mike always got the crawfish enchiladas and I got the habanero cream sauce pasta with grilled shrimp. He got fried shrimp tonight. The shrimp were jumbo and fried perfect. The "depot" fries are frozen crinkle cut. He subbed the Mac and cheese for the okra. It's more of a less sauce old fashioned Mac and cheese. I got my old habanero cream sauce pasta. It was served in the tiniest of bowls but the amount of food was good. Why not serve it in a normal sized dish? I would rather have the 4 jumbo shrimp they used to serve back in the day rather than the smallish medium shrimp. The sauce was thicker than I prefer but flavor was decent. I'll try something different next time. The cocktails were delicious. Again, the service and speed of things was incredible for a party of 17. My biggest negative was the music is ridiculously loud. Serving food to 17 people with that music was diabolical and we could not even visit. The group was great but the volume needs to be turned down. Def recommend for a large group but be prepared for music that is concert volume.

The food in the cafe in the back looked like it had been sitting for hours and it was only 10 am. Highly deceptive pricing! They do not put prices on anything. Staff will speak only in Spanish to you. As a Latina, I find that this not only is unprofessional but not tailored to serve a community that is in need for reasonable pricing. I am heading to Hattiesburg area to pick up some of these staples bcuz there is no reason these prices should represent California prices.

Carniceria Valdez is literally a counter in the back of a Mexican grocery, but coming out of that kitchen is some mighty fine Mexican food. I went with a couple of tacos and a gordita. For the gordita, I went with chorizo as the protein and for the tacos I went with the asada and the barbacoa. The tacos were just under two dollars each ($1.99 to be exact) and the gordita was, I believe, $3.50. I probably enjoyed the gordita the most and the chorizo was definitely my favorite protein out of my three choices. The staff was friendly enough, though the ordering process was you walk up to the counter and order your meal and they call you up when it is ready. All in all, I would definitely recommend here and I will give it five stars.
