I brought my daughter to Elgin Pediatric Dental for what I believed would be a basic cleaning before she got braces. Unfortunately, I was not informed of the costs of the services being provided, and I was shocked when I later learned that the visit used $624 of the $1,000 annual dental benefit available through my insurance. The charges included: Oral Exam: $160 Dental Cleaning: $140 basic tooth brushing used no tools or floss. Fluoride Treatment: $67 Two Radiographic Images: $78 Panoramic Image: $200 What was most frustrating was that the panoramic image, which cost $360, was not something I understood would be needed, and I did not realize the cost before it was performed. Had I been informed of the pricing beforehand, I could have made a more informed decision about my daughter's care. When I called with concerns about the bill, I found the business manager to be extremely rude and dismissive. Rather than addressing my concerns about the unexpected costs, I was told it was my responsibility as a consumer to know the charges in advance. While I agree that patients should understand their insurance coverage, I also believe providers should clearly disclose costs before performing services that can significantly impact a family's benefits and out-of-pocket expenses. My concern is not with the dental care itself, but with the lack of cost transparency and the response I received when I tried to discuss the charges. If you choose this practice, I strongly recommend asking for the price of every service, exam, X-ray, and treatment before it is performed so that you do not encounter the same surprise that I did. This review is simply intended to help other parents understand the potential costs and to encourage them to ask detailed questions before their appointment. Dentist was nice but not as detailed as we have had in the past and at a surcharge of 420 dollars for the same services I would do as the business manager told me to do know your numbers.

I was told at the end of May that a refund check would be sent to me. I had a filling done back in May and I paid the amount they estimated I would owe. Got the bill from the insurance and I should have only paid half the amount that was estimated. No big deal. I called and was told my card would be refunded or a check would be sent. Two months later- Nothing! The sad part is this is not the first time this has happened. Back in 2016 I had to have a filling and the same thing happened. Same amount of money stolen from me because they claimed the insurance would not pay as much as they actually did. They even went after my dad for money for my account. I have dental insurance and my cleanings are fully covered. My dad was told I had an outstanding balance. First, I am a grown adult. They should not be telling my dad anything. Second, I never received a bill in the mail and they have never charged me for dental cleanings in the 5 years I have had my own insurance. I am going to call tomorrow and give them another chance to make this right. As of now they have overcharged me about $130 over the past 2 years and I am not happy about it.

EVERY staff member was extremely welcoming and personable. My hygienist was super sweet, engaged in fun conversation, and was very gentle with the cleaning (a nice change from my previous dentist office haha). I have had nothing but pleasant and easy cleanings. When I have needed to get cavities filled the team has ensured I am comfortable and not in pain. They even provide dental cleanings for young kids. That takes a huge stress off trying to manage the health and finances of your family. They are very kid friendly, but also very professional. It's been 5 years now and even with all the cavities my kids have had they do not fear the dentist. From the receptionists to the dentists everyone is kind and friendly. I also love that they've never once scolded my kids for being a kid.
