Even if it was, which it is not, it was very unprofessional. Root canals don't always last forever. Sometimes an infection can develop many years later, in which case you will need an apicoectomy. Next, I do not agree with how this office handles their billing. I had my surgery in March 2026. The office said before they would even schedule my surgery, they need the insurance estimate. This seemed a little off to me since I was already told by Dr Peneses that my insurance would be maxed out after the root canal, and also are you telling me you won't perform this very important surgery if the insurance doesn't pay? They had submitted an estimate to the insurance company prior to the surgery and were waiting for it to be returned before they would schedule my surgery. I did get a call back from the office stating that they had received the estimate back from the insurance company and now I could go ahead and schedule my appointment. They informed me that the insurance was going to pay X amount and that I also had a credit with them from my previous root canal surgery with them. I was informed of what the final amount that I would owe would be. I was thrilled because I knew I had enough money in my FSA to cover the remainder. Fast forward to June 2026 & I see that the money for the apioectomy had not been deducted from my FSA. I called the office to ask why & was told that they had not submitted the bill yet and the girl that does the billing was already gone for the day, so they would have her call me back tomorrow. The billing person called me back approximately 2 weeks later to let me know when they would submit the bill. JUNE 2026 & THE BILL WAS NOT SUBMITTED TO INSURANCE YET?! The surgery was done 3/30/26! Now, today, 8/4/26, I was informed that the insurance didn't pay anything because my benefit was maxed out with the previous root canal, and my final amount owed is $2,120.33. That is VERY different from what was quoted to me in March. I understand the insurance maxed out on the root canal & the office has no control over that. My complaints are: 1. Why would you tell someone a quote very different from what you actually charge them? 2. Why would you wait so long to submit a bill to the insurance company? And 3. Why would you not advise a patient from the beginning that the final amount owed is just an estimate and you may actually owe more? Idk but this seems shady to me.

Yes, that was an issue that needed to be dealt with but that was NOT the tooth my dentist had wanted done first. Consequently I still have to go back and have the original tooth worked on. The really strange part was yesterday I received a check from this facility that was 2/3 of my original co-pay. I have no idea if the insurance they quoted me was incorrect or this is money back for the "extra" tooth work. Bottom line, communication is not a strong point.

More then 3/4 of my tooth # 6 broke up to the gum line last year Crown or implant were the only options. Crown under condition that remnants of my tooth and root is still healthy. After X ray and examination I learned that root canal was already done. I forgot that it was done about 40 years ago and it was incomplete and that at the bottom there was already little pocket of infection. After discussion about options, chances and what if..... we decided to redo root canal and prepare tooth for crown with pin-bolt in it. And here is the best part of my experience. As a person with good understanding about using manual, power and precision tools I was amazed by skills of Dr Kasper in using them. Don't be scared about what I said about power tools because he has his own tiny tools appropriate for his profession. He has plenty of them and he is master in operating and using them. I did not fill ANY pain possible because there was no pain, but possibly because I was busy watching him and admiring his skills and precision. After two or 3 visit my root canal was done. Next my dentist molded and installed pin and put crown on the top.. And that's end of the story.... Not exactly because Dr Kasper does FOLLOW up his creations-work for two years. So today was my first follow up visit for follow up X rays. I checked the pictures and they look perfect. Doctor has to review them and send report to my dentist. My next follow up visit will be next year for another X rays. Did I say that follow up visits to Dr Kasper are free? Yes the are. So conclusion and advise for those that are looking for good endodontist. You can keep looking but I am sure that there are not many Dr Kaspers around. I will update my comment-review next year after final follow up. In June of 2015 I had second-final follow up X ray and everything looks and feel good

This review is based on many years of experience. They did a good job giving me different options for treatment -- both what my general dentist recommended and alternatives. For example, while my general dentist thought a tooth could not be saved, the apicoectomy performed by Dr. Wong was able to avoid extraction. Both did a good job explaining my situation in a direct manner. Dr. Wong has a big personality but he backs it up with professional work. They provide insurance and out of pocket estimates so you know what you'll pay for different options.

Due timing and pain I took the first avail appointment with Dr Wong. I waited one hr for my appointment to start. I could hear Dr Wong w his other patient talking. But I am sitting in the next room still waiting for my consult which is already one hour late. Dr. Wong didn't acknowledge or apologize for the long wait. Without looking at my mouth, a 2 sec look at the X-ray rambled a lot of confusing information. He spent more time on making notice of how my hair was done, looking at my shoes, ear rings etc, which became uncomfortable. Dr. Wong was very arrogant, and what he claims is his ice breaker was to ask about my nationality.... He questioned my last name and asked if I was sure my last name was from the ethinicity. Than he questioned if i was married. My nationality is and was irrelevant to the purpose of my visit. He clearly has not had any DEI training. Dr Wong didnt believe his ice breaker is/was culturally insensitive and told me that I was sensitive and he would make note of it. Dr Wong than went to use a common foods in my culture as an analogy to describe my issue. Dr Wong was all over the place explaining the treatment place, bc in the middle of his explaination he kept making comments about my look... which he justified as being "observant". He should be more observant in the care he provides not a persons looks including the items they are wearing. His front desk couldn't explain the itemize bill or what they call care plan Dr Wong was ready to take my tooth out that minute bc they said he was quick and had an opening. They could clearly see I was confused by what was going on. I declined to take action bc I needed to consult my dentist bc I was surprised by Dr Wong saying I had a bacteria eating away at my bone. After thinking over and waiting for the email plan, I called back for an appointment w Dr Jurkas as a 2nd opinion since I had a good and educational experience for my first root canal. I clearly remember Dr J saying why try to save the tooth first. To my surprise Dr Wong called me bc they shared w him that I was not happy w my experience w him and wanted a 2nd opinion. I brought to Dr Wong's attention the above concerns I did not like. Dr Wong was condescending by responding some ppl are slow to understand. I stopped him there and again brought to his attention his rude and unprofessional response. During our call when I brought to his attention the insensitivity of my culture he thought it was ok bc he had a lot of friend in the "x" culture. I than brought to his attention that is not my culture... He clearly was looking at my file picture and again made and assumption. He didn't catch it on his own that he was associating me w another culture when i was telling him what my culture was. Dr Wong was very arrogant and rude to say Dr Jurkas was not going to be able to do the work I needed and that he works under him. Dr Wong response was a narcissist response. I decided to end the call by saying I need To take my services somewhere else. I asked for the email w the recap if his consult I still hadn't received it. 10 min later Dr Wong called me back I sent him to voicemail bc I was working. "I know you are screening calls."To close the loop I acknowledge the email being received: I thought we were done...No he calls me again... now this was starting to be harassment. I picked up the call and just listen to Dr Wong ramble... "I can give you recommendations for a new consultative exam. " Than he started to explain to me what should've happen day one. Not the news I was hoping for, but it is what it is. He went through my options with me and fully explained them. I really appreciated that. I set up an appointment for the next day with Dr. Emily Smythe for extraction. She and her assistant (whose name regrettably escapes me right now) made me as comfortable as I could be, making sure that nothing was done until the novocaine was totally working. I was amazed at how short of a time this actually took. The extraction and bone graft for my upcoming implant took maybe 10-15 minutes. The next step, in about 3 months will be the post for the implant. Everyone from the receptionists who scheduled me and helped me with my insurance paperwork to the assistants to the doctors at Cameo were friendly and professional. I highly recommend them!

I see I'm not the only one who has had difficulty with Cameo's billing department. In early May…read more2026, I went to the West Loop location for a consultation for which I paid in advance. The front desk told me they do not submit an insurance claim for consultations, and yet they did. And in late May my insurance company sent them a check to cover the full cost of the consultation. In other words, Cameo was paid twice for the same visit, once by me and once by my insurance company. I was told that Cameo would require some time for the check to clear and for the reimbursement to be processed. Well, it's the end of August, three months after Cameo should have received the insurance payment, and I have yet to receive reimbursement. This is actually the second issue I've had with a reimbursement. The first was being reimbursed for services that were not performed. In that case one of the partners intervened to settle the issue. I should note that the dental care I received was excellent, but I will not return to this practice for any follow-on work. Withholding reimbursements seems to be a feature not a bug for this practice, and they've already fooled me twice.
