Great stop, they have it all! I was searching for a propane heater for outdoor events. This store was packed with everything, free popcorn, coffee and a huge hallmark store. This store is a disgrace to the Ace Hardware name. I've been in this store 3 times in the last 8 months and it's been a negative experience all 3 times. I won't be going back. Every time I've gone in and asked a question, I've gotten a snarky, condescending answer from a slender older man, plus a young cashier who couldn't answer the simplest question and had no desire to be helpful in any way. And the store has always been a disorganized wreck, stuff piled everywhere. They need to take lessons from Madden Ace Hardware on Fairview Rd in Asheville. When I walk in there, the cashier asks what I'm looking for; I tell them, they radio that department and by the time I walk to that department, there is an associate there waiting to help me!! When I need anything hardware related, I will wait and purchase from Madden on my trips into Asheville. This place is ridiculously bad. read more

I needed to drop my Eco mower off for a warranty repair. This was one of the locations I was given to drop it off. I dealt with three people at this location. I have never seen so many unprofessional people in my life. Everyone acts like they don't have time to talk to you or engage you or help you little or no information is given. Jack the Manager on shift Sunday September 14 2025 has no customer service skills whatsoever, and should not be a Manager! We visited the store for a new battery for our car's key fob. We asked the cashier Wyatt to summon the associate that does the keys. Wyatt informed us Tyler was with someone but he would get to us shortly. A little while later Tyler showed up and started to take the screws out of the back of the fob. These screws are teeny tiny so he was having a hard time finding a screwdiver to fit. As Tyler was working his manager (Jack) came over and started to help him look for other screwdrivers. While Tyler was looking for other screwdrivers Jack tried to use all the different sizes that Tyler had already tried and nothing worked. When Tyler came back to try again he said "Oh now it looks stripped" That is when Jack tried a few more times by clamping vice plyers to a screw driver and then pressing into the screw to get it to turn.. this didn't work! That is when i wanted to put it back together but Jack said he would do it. Then the very tiny screw shot loose and no one could find it. I left the one screw missing and attached the outer cover on myself. Jack when asked what could be done to fix things said it wasn't his fault . I said i wasn't trying to blame him but he was the one handling the key fob stripping the screw and losing the other screw. Since Jack is the Manager, we had no where else to go... we are now out a key fob for our Lexus convertable, which Jack informed us would be over three hundred dollars.... I am in and out of this ACE all the time and I love it. Every employee that I have worked with has been very helpful and kind. And the coupons on the back of ingles receipts are a nice bonus. If I could give this 0 stars- I would. The people who work here could not be more disgusting and rude. The nicest people are the teenagers like excuse me. Back in my day you were supposed to respect your elders and now we respecting them youngins because they actually know what they are doing. There is this guy, I think his name tag said Jim or Jimmy he had red head and he was short with glasses, ew he was creep and so snappy to his employees. Also I heard their boss is a jerk to them and tells people they smell like cheese. Would never reccomend. It's a miracle these old people survived WW2 or whatever World war we're on. I ordered a set of washing machine hoses on Monday, 16 September. I was told that they would come in by Friday, 20 Sep, and that I would be called when my order was in the store (that is why they wanted my cell number). I just called today, Saturday, 21 Sep, to check on my order. Fortunately, my order arrived and is ready for pickup, however, I was told rather abruptly that the store does not have time to call the customer that the order is ready for pickup. Ace is our closest hardware store so in a pinch we do go there and we also like to support a locally owned business. From the employees to the owners it seems like no one could care less. They are rude, unhelpful and yes, the prices are higher but honestly for great service that would be ok. Everyone is short handed, I know, but when you receive poor service from owners/managers you have to just know....it starts at the top. Really a disappointing situation. read more

I was so happy when this store opened. No more runs up 501 to Lowes. The problem is that the store is so small and inventory is so limited that I still have to drive to Lowes. If I search for an item online the response is always "not available at this store." I don't even check anymore, I just drive to Lowes. I am so disappointed! The Service here is Terrible. The lady working the morning shift on Tuesday morning yelled across the store at my friend accusing of her stealing a 49 Cents piece of hardware. There was no reason for this interaction and my friend did not deserve this. It was completely uncalled for and there are proper ways of handling this. If the employee had just looked, she would've seen that she was merely holding the item in her hand. Id have understood if she had tried leaving the store or had hid the item but this was in the middle of the store. Also she was yelled at across the store and completely embarrassed for no reason for simply pick an item up. This is extremely unprofessional and unacceptable. Seems that cashier in question needs to be taught some manners and be retrained. Unless of course this how Ace Hardware treats its customers and trains the staff. Worst service ever! Went to this store to buy some galvanized steel rope. Went in and ran into an employee, told him what I wanted. He sent me to the isle it was in, already knew anyway. I measured it myself because no one came to help. Also, it is almost 3x as expensive as it is a Lowes. So I had it measured out, just needed to cut it. Waited about 10 minutes and decided I would rather go to Lowe's. Unless you like to wait for very long times for service, I would recommend you stay away from this place. I like shopping and supporting local businesses and typically Ace Hardware stores have unique items along with a good selection at reasonable prices. On Friday, Dec 9, 2022, I shopped at the 911 Greenville Highway store. The customer service I experienced was absolutely dismal from 2 persons working there (one was the owner!). When I asked one of the men who worked where a certain item was located, I was given a vague answer along with a motion as to the direction to go and find it. Later when I asked another question, I was not even looked at, and he answered while he was walking away so I couldn't hear the answer. I said I'm sorry I didn't hear and again he continued walking away as he answered so I couldn't hear again! Lastly, the day before I was at another Ace Hardware in Mills River and purchased a small paint sample, and experienced "great" customer service. This day I made the same purchase at the Greenville Highway store and was charged quite a bit more, when I asked the cashier (the female owner) if it was a mistake, she quickly kept restating the price they are charging and dismissed me by saying "good day". When I tried to converse and better understand the pricing, she rudely repeated..."good day"...like get out of here! Yes, I left and will never return to this ridiculous culture of horrible service so I can have a "good day"! Wow! read more

Ace hardware has a great selection of a wide range of commonly needed hardware store type products. A big plus is the Big Green Egg accessories! But, this is my go store store instead of the big home center stores we like the helpful and friendly staff. If they don't have a needed product they're always willing to order it. On Friday I purchased three flower box coco liners, using the 30% off bag sale coupon I had received in the mail. When I got home, I realized I had purchased the wrong size. On Saturday, I returned (to the same cashier) to exchange the smaller liners for three larger ones (and pay the difference). When she rang up the new ones, I asked if she had applied the discount. She said no--that I'd need another coupon. I told her she saw me yesterday--and I'm a frequent shopper there. She wouldn't budge. I asked to speak to the manager and she said she was the owner. So, in this time when we're supposed to limit our activities, she wanted me to drive home and get another coupon (which we happened to have) and return to the store in order to get the discount. As I was leaving the store, I ran into my neighbor. I asked him if he was going to be using his 30% off coupon and he said I could have it. So, I got back in line for this insensitive store owner to apply my credit. read more

I have always enjoyed shopping at Ace Hardware. However, today I went in to buy a gallon of paint for a friend that was painting his bedroom. He had written down exactly the paint he needed. No one was at the paint counter and the owners wife walked by and I asked if I needed help. I said I did and she she called for some one to help. Salesman named Gregg finally came and asked me I need paint. I handed him the paper with the type of paint I needed and he would not take it and asked me what type of paint I needed. I told him It was written on the paper and handed it to him and he once again would not take the paper and told me not to get close to him. Another employee saw the look on my face and came over and told Gregg he would take over. When paying for the gallon of paint ($96.06) I told the owners wife what happened and she said she was sorry, but never said she would address the issue with the employee. I was feeling good about going to ACE versus other hardware stores because their staff SEEMED to be good about wearing masks. The first time I went, all but one employee were wearing masks. I just avoided that employee. Today, however, the only man available to help me was wearing his mask UNDER his chin. While helping me, he coughed hard onto the sales shelves in front of him. No attempt to cough into his elbow or even his hand. Luckily he was facing away from me. Later, the employee was facing away from me working on my order when I heard him say in a mocking voice either "Where's your mask? Where's your mask?" or "Wear your Mask!" Wear your mask!" to another employee. Either way, it was clear he was not a fan of mask wearing. I left. Who knows what all this employee touches in a day. Shop at your own risk! read more

Today I came into Ace for a few items. The store is in the process of being remodeled. A man in a blue shirt and black mask (I presume he works here) was flagged down by a store customer. The customer asked the gentleman "Do you work here?" The man in the blue shirt replied "Of course I do", and then he walked away. WORST display of customer service I have seen in a while. The only reason I would ever consider coming back to this Ace is because of the EXCELLENT customer service provided by Brody (who cut keys for me), David (who directed me to the correct isle to locate an item), and Elizabeth (the cashier). I will be looking for other ways to post my experience today, as I am VERY disappointed in the employee (or owner) who just brushes off customers. As I was leaving I asked who the man in the blue shirt and black mask was. I was told he is the owner. I hope this message finds him, and he learns not to be a prick to his customers. I was able to shop for my husbands items and then I was able to get my monthly birthday cards and my garden seeds to start my garden. The staff was super friendly and helpful! I often shop here and usually the customer service is outstanding..very knowledgeable, helpful and kind.But there are couple of men who work in the hardware and paint department who are grumpy, dismissive and sometimes rude. For example:I recently tried to get some paint replacement and was told at th epaint desk that the store did not carry that paint ..even though their label was on my old gallon can! I asked for an explanation and was asked if I had trouble hearing! (my hearing is excellent ). Since I thought there might be some misunderstanding I asked..politely .. again and this time was told,it did not matter, the issue was closed. Then was told to come back in 4 days when the paint was in! None of it made sense, but the man''s rude attitude was truly what put me off. I am now willing to pay more and go to another paint store where the service is uniformly kind. Their ad" helpful harware place"is true about 70 % of the time ..and when it is not true,it can be very offputting. read more

I had been searching (in vain) for set screws for my 48 year old Singer Touch and Sew machine. I wanted to put it back in the cabinet we bought at the same time we bought the machine. I tried Home Depot--no luck. I tried Lowe's where one associate was rude and left me to try to figure out the heads and tails of set screws, their sizes, their spirals, etc. by myself. (sorry, buddy, what is clear to you was sounding Greek to me as I tried to comprehend) . Another Lowe's employee was more patient and I purchased a package of screws I hoped were right. WRONG! Then I tried Ace. A very nice young man walked me through the selection process and I purchased two more that I thought were right. WRONG!! After two hours searching the net and sending out emails that were never answered by companies that carry machine parts I made another trip to Ace to purchase plain old flat head screws as a last ditch attempt. I was greeted by Dennis who uttered the word 'metric' and proceeded to walk me to the metric set screws!! Joy of joys! That's what I needed! My dear Ole Betsy is safe in her cabinet, in a window overlooking the backyard and MY SEARCH is finis!! And Ace has a happy customer! read more

Unfortunately, fond memories o f this store have been shadowed by a recent experience. We just moved back to Hendersonville after being away for 3 years. Gone are some of the lovely things here before, like the coffee shop and a neat store. It seems more crowded and uncared for. Some of the plants in the garden area were actually dying! I did find some nice ceramic pots for my orchids, but, when I took then to the register the very young clerk rang them up and set then on the counter...No bag, no nothing! When I asked him to put them in bags he did, with an attitude. No wrapping. When I asked him to wrap them, he became visibly grumpy and complained that he was almost out of bags. So I proceeded to wrap them myself. He then started to wrap them as there were people lining up behind me. Very sad experience. I was expecting things to be the same. They weren't. Too bad. I ask Greg if all grills were assembled free of charge and ask, even the ones that weren't above the 399.00 mark. He told me all grills were and if I wanted I could take the floor model home. After going home and discussing with wife I returned and my wife had a 20% off coupon. I ask if I could use coupon and was told yes. I went to buy grill and then was told there would be a 20.00 assembly fee...I ask why and was told because of coupon. Why would it change because of a coupon? Isn't it used to save money? Was told they would assemble it tonight, so I ask if you are going to assemble tonight can I come back and get floor model later tonight? I was thinking they would replace with one they were going to assemble after hours and was told no that I would have to pick up the one they assemble the next day but really didn't have a time.......I shop here at least once a week and this was the most confusing experiences I have had. It's almost like the young guy who helped me didn't believe me. I heard all the guys talking on their radio's...and they seemed confused....If I told a customer something, I would do everything possible to back up what I told them....May just get a refund and shop around read more

I bought a new Echo CS-303T chainsaw from Ace in Hendersonville, NC. I could have saved money buying on-line, but I always try to support our local businesses. I've been using Stihl & Husky saws for years but needed a top handle trim saw. Within a couple weeks the chain flew off at full throttle. I simply assumed I hit something or since it was a new model low profile bar, I hadn't kept it tight enough. I saw nothing when I checked the chain. Nonetheless, I told Jeremy at Ace and replaced the chain. Same result at full throttle. Bought another brand chain replaced it and this time had same result with my employee using it. I called Echo and they told me to return to the retailer. I then brought it back to Ace. Jeremy at the service desk tried it and the same result, the chain flew off the bar at full throttle. I offered to accept credit for a different model saw, the owner of Ace refused. They have had the saw longer than I and still do. I've been buying Echo products for 2 decades with never a problem. This model has an obvious flaw in design. And I will continue to buy Echo products but will NEVER return to Ace Hardware for anything. read more

It is a shame this Ace hardware caters to residential customers who obviously have more money than they need. I have never seen such an expensive hardware store. I live 1/8 mile down the road and continually drive past them to get to Lowe's or Home Depot. This week I ran in to grab two 60# bags of concrete to finish a footer and they rang me up at $17.00. I figured they put in way to many bags and told cashier I only needed two bags, she said that was the price for two bags. THEY WERE $7.99 A BAG! I ran to Lowe's and bought a 60# bag ($3.25) and an 80# bag ($4.25) for less than the cost of one of their 60# bags. Time and time again, I end up leaving Ace to get to the real hardware store that has normal prices. Even their 50% off one item coupon is more than if you went to a nursery for plants or the Lowe's/ Home Depot for any other item. This could be such a nice store and good location if it wasn't for the outrageous pricing. read more

Went to my local ace hardware this morning to purchase borax, trash bags and a couple other items. When I arrived at the store around 8:30 I stood in front of the front doors without them opening which I found unusual since they open at 8. There was an older lady fussing with the popcorn machine ignoring me..I was there for about 20 min when an older gentleman came from the back and told her to open the door. She complained about the unfunctioning door with no apologies offered..the other staff were very helpful with me finding my items. When I got to the register I again stood there without any help while the same employee continued to ignore me and again fuss with the popcorn. I finally asked her if I could pay for my purchase. With somewhat of an attitude she rang me up. She was very negative and short. She was wearing crazy stripped leggings under shorts and looked like she was going to a child's party and not to work..next time I will drive across town to the corporate hardware store at least they are cordial and dress appropriately..this store should be more concerned with customer service and not popcorn.. read more
