We had a really enjoyable experience here and were lucky enough to arrive before the dinner rush hit. The restaurant is surprisingly large, with plenty of seating inside and a patio that looked like a great spot to linger over a meal when the weather cooperates. Hayley took excellent care of us throughout the visit, offering thoughtful recommendations, plenty of patience, and just the right amount of attentiveness without hovering. If you're ordering, do yourself a favor and grab some of the hot honey sauce to take home because it's that good. The sausage and peppers had great flavor and was well prepared, though it wasn't particularly saucy, so if you're into that, consider yourself warned. Parking was easy once we found the place, but first-timers may drive past it since it's tucked beside a Chevron gas station and isn't immediately obvious from the road. Usually it's quiet at that time, unless there is a football game, or more recently, a soccer game (and World Cup hasn't even started, so I'm not sure which soccer game was even playing). We came up on a Tuesday only because we noticed that they have a happy hour menu that isn't otherwise available (M-F, 3-7pm). Scott very generously poured my $5 house vodka, and we ordered the cheese steak egg rolls ($5) and the Asian black wings ($6). Was intending to take pictures, got excited about food, forgot. It was 4 wings, 2 rolls/4 pieces. Amazing. Service here has never let us down, and the food hasn't either (Miss Tiki in the kitchen deserves all the raises, she never misses with the food.) I've been coming to this Ale House location for over 10 years, and I've honestly never had an experience this bad. What happened tonight was unacceptable, not just because of the poor service, but because of how both our server and the manager handled the situation. A group of about 10 of us came in for lunch. We were seated quickly, and the staff did a great job arranging tables to accommodate our group, so I want to give credit where it's due. Unfortunately, everything went downhill after that. Our server didn't come to greet us for about 10 minutes. He took our drink orders, but three drinks were either forgotten or incorrect. One of my friends ordered a Dr Pepper but was brought Pepsi. When she politely pointed it out, instead of simply replacing it, he questioned her by asking, "Are you sure?" He brought another drink, which turned out to be Cherry Coke. Even after she explained multiple times that she wanted Dr Pepper, he continued questioning her. On the third attempt, he came back carrying two cups--one for her and one for himself so he could "test it." We were all confused by the interaction. After receiving our drinks, we waited another 20 minutes without our server returning to take our food order. I eventually had to get up and ask another server where ours was because we had been sitting there for so long. About five minutes later, he finally came back and took our orders. I ordered the grilled chicken tacos and specifically asked for no onions. After waiting over 40 minutes for our food, my tacos arrived with onions. I politely asked for them to be remade. He took the plate back without apologizing and acted as though we were inconveniencing him. Twenty minutes later, my replacement arrived. Instead of the tacos as listed on the menu, they contained only grilled chicken and lettuce. They were missing the pico de gallo, corn, avocado dressing, and every other topping. At that point, I asked to speak with the manager. As I explained that the tacos were missing most of the advertised ingredients, his first response was, "Well, the pico de gallo contains onions," in a dismissive tone. I replied that my issue wasn't just the onions--it was that almost every ingredient was missing. He simply stood there in silence. I finally said I didn't want the food anymore, and his only response was "Okay," before walking away. Not once did he apologize or attempt to resolve the situation. Immediately afterward, our server removed my food and started bringing the payment machine around to collect payment from everyone, even though nobody had asked for the check and several people in our group were still eating. Given the service we had received, several of us chose not to leave a tip. That's when the situation became completely unacceptable. As my friends selected "No Tip" on the payment screen, our server said out loud: "If you don't have money to tip, don't come to a fucking restaurant." We were absolutely shocked. One of my friends immediately asked to speak with the manager. Instead of apologizing for his employee's behavior, the manager defended him by saying, "Well, servers rely on tips." That response was incredibly disappointing. Tips are earned through good service--they are not mandatory, and they certainly don't justify verbally insulting customers. There was no apology from either the server or the manager at any point during our visit. As we were leaving, I waited to ask the manager for his name. While I waited, I could clearly see him and the server laughing together while looking in our direction. When he finally came over, I asked for his name. He told me it was Carlos, and when I asked for his last name, he hesitated before saying "Garcia." I thanked him politely and left. I've been a loyal customer of Ale House for over a decade, which is exactly why this experience was so disappointing. Mistakes with food happen. Long waits happen. What should never happen is being treated with disrespect, receiving no apology, having management dismiss legitimate concerns, and then being cursed at by a server for choosing not to tip after receiving terrible service. Our server took over 25 minutes to take our order despite walking past our table several times, and we waited over 45 minutes for our food. Simple requests were repeatedly overlooked, including an incorrect drink order and a meal that had to be sent back twice because it was prepared incorrectly. What truly crossed the line, however, was the way we were treated. After we spoke with the manager about the ongoing issues, our server became visibly hostile. At the end of the meal, after everyone at our table paid and tipped according to the service they personally received, he loudly told us, **"If you don't have money to tip, don't come to a fucking restaurant."** That kind of language and behavior toward paying customers is completely unacceptable. Unfortunately, the manager's response was just as disappointing. Instead of addressing the server's conduct, he defended it by explaining that servers rely on tips. While I understand and respect that reality, it does not excuse speaking to customers with profanity or hostility. There was no genuine apology or attempt to make the situation right. The place was very empty, and although all the screens had the games showing, the hype for the start of football season, a crowd wasn't there. We sat at the outside bar, and there was one bartender waiting on the outside guests. The outside bar could use a bit of cleaning, and updating. It was looking a bit aged. Food here is just mediocre, it's nothing too crazy. The drinks are ok, but you're better off just ordering beers. I'm not to sure that we will be visiting here again anytime soon. The place was pretty empty when we got there and hostess did not seat us where we asked preference wise. Also all the food came out at very very different times to the point where we had people finishing eating before people even got their food. It also took them a very long time to get the bill. There are many sports bars in South Florida, but I think this place is bigger than most. It has two dining areas, outdoor seating, a huge central bar, and even pool tables. But the food really stood out here. We were impressed with the quality and how yummy it was. Started with some cocktails like the Margarita and Lemon Drop Martini. Both were very good. Not too sweet. Just right. We also got the Hot Honey Pepperoni Flat Bread and Chicken Quesadillas. The flatbread was nice and toasty however we wished they drizzled more hot honey. We want some spice! The quesadillas were very good thought. They were generous with the protein and cheesy. For the main course, we got the Carolina Ribs and Lobster & Shrimp platter. The ribs were mouthwatering and fall-of-the-bone. Loved their BBQ sauce. The lobster tail was perfectly grilled and the shrimp were crunchy. As for the dessert, I highly recommend the Macked Out Donuts. Wow! They were piping and drizzled with some sweet gooey stuff. Yum. We really enjoyed our visit here. The staff was wonderful, especially our server. Even the manager came by to make sure our food was good. There are plenty of TVs surrounding the bar and dining area so you won't miss any of your favorite sports. This place was a life saver! I picked up my adult children who came home for the holidays and were starving at 10 pm... everything seemed to be closed, even the cheesecake factory! ... and suddenly we looked at places "open now" and the Carolina Ale House was open! The added detail is that they are vegetarian. It is hard to find vegetarian dishes in restaurants, but the Carolina ale house had some very good items that met their hunger! So we ordered the Nachos without chicken- and they were a very full filling dish. Next we ordered the Alfredo pasta, also no chicken, it comes with a garlic toast, well it was great- and then we also got the vegan burger and the report I got was that it was extremely good, juicy and flavorful ! Yes!! Success! There's other items in the menu that would have also been very appetizing for a vegetarian but kudos for offering a nice assortment. Enjoy! First what was good: the waitress was very friendly and helpful. She checked in but not too much. Made us feel welcome and comfortable. The fries also were not bad Now the rest. Ordered steak cooked medium rare (the only way to eat steak by the way), but it came out extremely well done. The steak itself has almost no flavor. Wasn't expecting anything wonderful by any means, but still was disappointed. We also ordered a burger and it was also extremely overcooked. Burned and charred. The atmosphere was very busy. It was overstimulating for sure. Of course there were a lot of TVs, but the noise level was what was causing the problem. This is my favorite bar to meet up with friends and relax. Friendly bartenders and stiff dirty martinis and loaded nachos. The bar allegedly was sold a couple years ago and now built a brand new Carolina Ale House restaurant in Deerfield Beach - will check it out. The ribs and a side of shoestring onion rings are amazing here. Nice outside patio with live music tonight but the cigarette smell halts me from ever sitting outside - who the heck still smokes cigarettes? Ok, so to be completely honest, I've been to this location maybe a dozen times since they opened. Except for the selection and freshness of the draft beer, I've not once enjoyed a meal here. I went in with minimal expectations to be sure. So, you rightfully ask, why did you go back? I guess I'm an optimist. The place stays open, I see people go there, maybe things have improved... nope. This was a late night drop-in for a couple drinks and a snack. I ordered French onion soup. I will admit, great onion soup is not easy to make but I'm not (for earlier discussed reasons) expecting too much, I promise. Served at the bar, the bartender brought it to me with pleading, apologetic eyes. I didn't really understand why until I looked down at the soup, completely blackened under the broiler. When I say blackened, I mean new asphalt black. It was blacker than the devil's heart; black holes being pulled across the galaxy into this cheese kind-of-black. So, yeah, I asked for a new one and the very understanding bartender obliged. The second one came and (one may expect) that it was just barely melted, no color; ok, fine. I scooped through the cheese to taste the soup and argh... it was so damn salty it was inedible. Now I know a lot of restaurants over-salt their food but I'm talking SALTY. Beyond Atlantic Ocean salty, this was more like some new level of salt. A second try, my tongue writhing in protest, yielded an even higher order of salt; Bonneville salt flats level of salt. The bartender was great, the ambiance is good. Aforementioned beer is good. Go to Carolina Ale House for the beer, go elsewhere for food. Your blood pressure will thank you! I really hate giving low reviews. I'd rather just not review an establishment at all. This place needs a warning sign on the door like one of those old-timey explorer's maps warning about dragons over the edge of the world, except it's not dragons but the threat of a collapsing universe or rating a salt lick. We came here as an alternative to a very busy Sunday night at Flanigans with a family of 5 adults and 1 baby. But we were really hopeful. Upon pulling in to the parking lot, it was pretty empty but it didn't stop us from being hopeful! It should have because this might have been some of the worst food and mediocre service. It was extremely loud in there with all the TVs and music turned up way too high. Starting with the drinks, nothing fancy. Just some waters and sodas. After our initial round of drinks, we were never offered refills, even though our waitress came by several times with food items and our cups were empty. The appetizers: spinach dip and the fried tumbleweed onions. Spinach dip was alright, served with chips and pita. But the onions? Weren't cooked all the way through. The batter was still raw. I ordered the steak and frites that came with an awful "asian chimichurri". it was very thick and tangy but not good at all. The dish came at room temperature. The ambiance is great only due to the in house relations going on while wait staff is eating behind a corner only due to the fact that the floor manager is back in his quarters. Today I ordered a few items including a plant based buffalo burger and the vegetables are the saddest, grosses vegetables I could get. Where to start? We recently visited with a group of 12 with high hopes of a decent meal after a long day of outdoor activities. Upon arrival we were seated rather quickly which was awesome. That is where the positive experience ended. Our waiter was superb for the most part and continuously apologized for the horrid service at this establishment. Drinks, cocktails and regular beverages were messed up if they actually arrived. Our waitress was googling how to make the cocktails because the bartender(only one for the entire restaurant this day) wasn't sure how to make them. We often resorted to going to the bar ourselves to have drinks made and requested condiments that for the most part the restaurant was out of. The food, when it finally showed up(after almost 2 hours in a very unoccupied restaurant) had overcooked burgers, shrimp that was almost completely raw and appetizers that either didn't show up or was made so poorly that we weren't charged for it. When the manager was asked for, they never showed up. We were credited for a majority of the food/drinks. This all stems from ownership that simply does not care about its patrons and just about the money they are trying to make(it has to be hard to be profitable when they're not charging for all of the messed up items). Our waitress was so embarrassed she was hinting to our party that this will most likely be her last day working there. We only visited here because flanagins(across the street)said they had a 2hr wait. We should have known when we called Carolina ale house there was no wait for such a large party something was up. I would have given this three stars if they could get an order right. It isn't rocket science and they got it wrong on too many levels. It's common that someone other than the server brings the food but when they don't know what was ordered and insist it's right errors occur. In our case we ordered two different burgers. And that's what they brought.... But not the ones we ordered. And we ordered them medium and they came charred and dry. The problem was compounded when the server who actually took the order was too busy to check if we were satisfied. After about 15 minutes when she showed up she was apologetic and said she'd fix things or give us a credit. But no fix and no credit. And it took a good ten minutes for us to ask for a check. Ok no fix, no credit.l, no attention. I gave her a smaller tip than we normally do...
