Very disappointed their menu is so different than what it used to be. We went there specifically for the corned beef hash they used to serve, it was delicious! The seating has expanded and the door entrance is different. However, our biggest complaint is the weird track lighting in the new seating area and how the lights shine right in your face. It's blinding and annoying. The waitress was friendly. 2 stars for how the menu has changed and the dumb new lighting. We left after drinking our coffees. Won't be back.

Yay!!

Updated 1/7/2023. They have changed their hours (again) . Now open for breakfast lunch and dinner. Prices went way up. 2 egg breakfast with meat a side and bread is $10.50 compared to Smiths $6.99 including coffee. Tip... call before you go as it's a crap shoot if they're open as their posted hours. Just normal breakfast. Home fries are frozen. Had to ask for butter and jelly and a spoon to stir coffee.

This is the 2nd time eating here. Its a shame they close so early. They have really good food. My husband decided on breakfast and I wanted lunch. He said someone knew how to cook the eggs they were done perfect. The home fries were very good as well. My hamburger was huge! I wanted rare, it was done perfect It was really good! No pre frozen hamburger it was hand made and a great size if your hungry!! The waiter was good as well. We will go again sometime we are out early enough not to miss before they close. Great place to eat if your close by!

Nothing fancy. Got an omelet and a side of biscuits and gravy for $4.50, plus tip. You can't beat the price.

Great service and food and the price can't be beat! It doesn't look like much from the outside, but this place is great.

Malaprop's will forever be one of my favorite indie bookstores. I first fell in love with it back…read morein 2021 when I lived in AVL. I liked the name so much because I was the type of person who used malaprops a good amount. It's extra charming because you're able to order something from their cafe while reading your book. This spot is deceptively huge. The different sections are very intentional and beautifully organized. I had an especially great time looking at the "Beautiful Books" section this visit. I ended up falling in love with a short stories book by Chips Hardy that I took home. I also adored their graphic t-shirts here. I am not a big t-shirt person, but always want more graphic tees, so was so excited to love this one so much. I had a really special experience with one of the booksellers here on my recent visit too. I could not find The Enchanted April in the fiction section and when I asked, one of the booksellers got really excited about the author and that book. She passionately told me how wonderful the book was. We were sad to see it was sold out, but suggested I check a bookstore a block over. I love this bookstore and think everyone should make it a stop on an Asheville trip.

It seems as though it's only open until the afternoon though, as it wasn't staffed when we were there. But there's still plenty of seating if you wanted to sit a spell. The bookstore portion is really well curated with a nice "local" section featuring local writers and interest. I love checking out this section when I travel and there was a ton to dig into here. They also have a good sized kid's section most notable thing is how many books they offer with autographed copies. That means they seem to bring in a ton of writers which is so exciting for the Asheville community. Speaking of community, I peeked at their events calendar and it looks like they have a ton of book clubs in a variety of different genres that meet regularly. So no matter your interest (romance, science fiction, mystery, horror, etc) you can find a meetup. Some are hosted in store but others in local breweries, libraries, and other third spaces in the area. Excellent offerings across the board!

City Of Legends Sports Bar & Grill - Spinach Dip

City Of Legends Sports Bar & Grill

Basically same place as previous place, Draft Sports Bar. Same bar, same tables same pool tables…read moreand TVs. Food is a tad different and the same style. Wings, burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders and sandwiches . But they do a southern style home cooking with specials on Sunday. It changes from meatloaf, fried chicken, fish (whitting) . On to our food. We started with the spinach dip, it is definitely home made, good taste, not the over creamy stuff that's probably frozen. Good cheesy taste and tortilla s are fresh. $6.50 Daughter ordered the 1/4 lb burger with normal toppings, comes with fries for $8.00 plus .50 cheese. We got order of 24 wings, 12 hot buffalo, breaded and 12 lemon pepper, also breaded. The burger is a sad sad excuse for $8. Horrible size it looks not much bigger than a flattened meatball. Wings are good, but came out barely warm and the $4 fry is just a frozen half basket of yuck. So not impressed. They've been open 2 weeks now and only 1 other table of customers at prime rating location. No signage on front of building and the building is WAY off street half hidden by Denny's. I haven't seen much advertisement on social media or in local papers. Good luck getting business . Exactly why previous restaurantt closed. No one knew it was here, but at least the food was better quality at old place. One more thing. Debit or credit card is a 3.5% upcharge.

So I had the $8 burger + the .50 to add cheese talk about a big wast of $8.50 on a burger and…read morefires. But I will say this the burger had the good flavoring that you look for in the burger but the size of the burger being smaller than the bun! I will never order the burger here again unless they increase the size of the burger to match the price. And maybe give a cheese options of cheeses and maybe offer to season the fries. The spinach dip was good you could tell it was fresh homemade along with the chips just kinda wish the dip wasn't so greasy. The grease made it look unpleasant to look at. Not much of things from when this location was the draft has changed. There's no personality to make it stand out for what this place was with the past businesses that where here. And when I hear a place called City of Legends it makes me think of New Orleans kind of soul food/bar food but that's just my take on it.
