We love Slim's! It has become one of our weekly go-to spots, and there's a reason we keep coming back. One of the best things about Slim's is that you can get genuinely good food at an affordable price--which makes a huge difference when you're taking a whole carload of kids out to eat! The atmosphere is another favorite of mine. It has that laid-back Southern charm and hospitality that feels like home, especially for someone born and raised in North Carolina. There's country music playing, plenty of character throughout the restaurant, and they even have a table made from a truck. It doesn't get much more Southern than that! My go-to order is a burger with pimento cheese and fries, and I highly recommend doctoring up the fries with their Cajun seasoning, homemade ranch, and a little vinegar. SO good! Slim's recently relocated to a larger space just up the street. I met some friends for dinner on a Tuesday night. The place was busy as groups were waiting for tables. It looks like the locals have taken a fancy to the new place. We sat at the bar and enjoyed outstanding service from the bartender. Slim's had great beer specials. Our orders were served hot and fresh. The wings were meaty and looked good. The BLT I ordered was delicious. The onion rings were cooked just right. The decor featured a section recognizing veterans and first responders. I look forward to returning very soon. read more

The new location is roomier than the other location. Be hungry if you order the fries and onion rings as the portions are immense. My favorite item is the cheesesteak and jalapeños. read more

It has been months since updating. The rating stays the same Food is always the same, especially the amazing jalamango wings! The sauce is bar none. My daughter and my grandkids just had a great dinner experience at Slims. I had a three hotdog basket with a double order of perfectly cooked home fries! My daughter had something called a big salad . She said that she really enjoyed it one grandson helped my daughter eat it! The other grandson had a hot dog tray with the home fries! First time here visiting friends, we stopped in to eat some lunch! OMG everyone was super friendly. The food smelt so good. The restaurant was clean our waitress was the best , she was friendly, nice & answered all of our questions gave great suggestions. I was so impressed with everything. We had a great time the food was delicious. I had gotten two cheeseburger patties with fried egg, bacon and mustard . It's was so nice for them to accommodate me who's on a special diet. The rest of the the people had gotten: Chili hot dog and a slim , wings, burgers and fries. They others say food was delicious and sweet tea was the best! Very busy but we were sat fairly quickly. We ordered appetizers, fried pickles and jalapeño poppers, they came out very quickly and were fresh and hot. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. I ordered a hotdog all the way with fries and onion rings. The fries are hand cut which I love. We will definitely be back. read more

This is a nice locals bar with great prices on beer. Different days there is usually different specials. One of my favorite things to get is the Philly cheese steak sandwich. Plus on the side queso cheese covered fries they are so good! Another favorite is the Jalamango Chicken wings!! These are so good!!! If your on a diet this is not the place to eat!!! Fried pickles were delicious. Burger tasted like a microwaved meat substitute thrown on a grill. Fries were fresh. This is more of a bar to get a drink than a dine in place. My nephew is younger (10) boy .. it was a good sized sandwich ..and we asked for them to cut in half so he could handle it.. she brings out a cheap flimsy plastic knife. Wouldn't butter bread let alone cut toast bacon and lettuce. Service was like we were bothering them. And they weren't busy at all. The MAD DOG is the Best Hotdog ever. It's an all beef dog wrapped in Bacon and deep fried. I take mine with slaw and mustard. Simply incredible, the fries are great and so are the onion rings. After a trip to the Arcade Museum and to see the Christmas lights in Forest City we were walking around looking for somewhere to have dinner. Places were either closed, closing or not taking more diners. We were giving up and headed toward the car when like a beacon in the night Slims was twinkling in our eyes. A quick Yelp search showed some damn fine reviews. Sold! Love the simple menu - love the $3 Dale's Pales. Before I forget, one thing that made the visit great was all the young people running this place with great friendly attitudes; they had it running like a well oiled machine and seemed genuinely happy to be working there. We had Wings, a Cheeseburger, Loaded Chicken Nachos and Fried Pickles. Honestly, everything was good especially the Cheeseburger and Wings. The pickle portion was generous and plenty for four to share as an appetizer. The only flub was being overcharged slightly for wings that were supposed to be on special. I'm lovin it!! A great little hang out place right off Main Street. This is definitely going to be a local gathering place for nicely priced beers. ( $1.50- $3 cans and bottles) . We had the wing appetizer and the Not So Slim Burger with shoestring fries. Wings are on the small side but the JalaMango sauce was really good. The burger, a nice hand patties burger with lettuce tomato and onion in between two grilled cheese sandwiches. Oh boy, I won't slim down with this thing nearby! A nice little grill off the side of Main Street. Apparently folks say it's a staple in this little town, so after living here for a year and a half I finally decided to visit with a strong hankering for a burger. The girls inside greeted me kindly and there was way more space inside than I had thought. The menu is small, a good thing because sometimes too many choices are overwhelming. The sweet tea is down the real southern way- sweet with lots of ice! The burger was good, I kinda think it was a frozen patty but I could be wrong. So let basing that on the fact that the burger was packed tight and stayed round. The fries were homemade but a little softer than I personally like. The onion rings were perfect! We stopped here on the way back from Shelby because we were starving! I had to work in a couple of hours when we got back to Hendo so we wanted to choose something that would be a little quick and simple. This was the perfect fit! We looked at the menu before going in so we knew exactly what we were in for, which was perfect. So you go in and have a seat. It's very simple but has a bar set up that we didn't expect. We were greeted by a pretty tan blonde waitress. If you're not from a small town, you might not know that some of the purdiest girls are in them. I am not joking, it's the kind of place I am from so I totally get it. We both ordered burgers, fries and a drink with an appetizer of fried pickles. The fried pickles were really good. VERY generous portions. The burgers were good but I would have ordered condiments if I had known that they didn't come with them. I wasn't sure because it wasn't on the menu. You can tell it's not top quality meat and its not oozing with flavor but its a simple burger that you would come to expect from a homestyle place. The server recommended the shoestring fries because they're hand cut and she was right, they were really good. They even put a cajun seasoning shaker on the table so you can season as you would like. Way too many fries though, I might have eaten 1/3 of what I got because the burger is also large. Most people would not complain about that. The server checked in accurately, not overbearing and not aloof. I think one of the best parts to top it off was the mural in front of the building, I will post it. It was done by a local artist and you can view it from the windows in the restaurant. There is so much detail here you could look at it for hours. Very fun. We would definitely come here again if in town and want a quick bite. read more

Great atmosphere, very good service, friendly staff, but with a tag line under the name that says "flippin' good burgers" I was hoping for fresh hand pattied burgers not a premade possibly frozen burger patty. I also was hoping to be able to order the temp of doneness I want. But I got what appears to be a precooked well done burger with no seasoning. They could do so much better than they currently do with this product. I hope they work on this and get their trademark item up to the level they should be serving. read more
